because I'm a noob to active setups. So I'm trying to plan out an active two way setup for my Tahoe. My question is can I use any speakers I want? I'm used to buying what is packaged and put together for me and now I'm swimming in possible options. I see all the Morels ,but none are the ones for the car setups, then there are seas and ScanSpeak and peerless.........Do they need to be made for car audio and what are things I need to look for in the graphs and such. I have no way to demo all these options!

Mark, I am looking to build a 2 way bookshelf for personal use and just for the hell of it. I want to use SB Acoustics SB29 Ring Dome Tweeter and was wondering how well you think the MLI would mate up with it. Anyway, any thoughts you have are appreciated.

I've noticed that the level 3 subs have small vented requirements. I am looking to use two level 3 tens in a jeep wrangler. The enclosure size would be the recommended 1.4 cu. ft. (for both subs combined) using a 4" precision port for tuning. Can I start cutting or is this a bad combo?

  8. Hi all, I have a BTL n2 12" actually, and I love it. but I want more now ! I was thinking of reconing it to a 15" sub. Can you tell me what I need to buy from Fi, of course ? Recone kit, basket ? Is it hard to do ? Can I find a tutorial here or elsewhere (I'll try Google !). I won't do it myself as I am not very familiar with speaker recones and tools, and ...anything !!! a friend of mine will do it, but I want to know some things before. I already have a design for a good box. It must be around 3-3.5 ft3 net @ 32 Hz ! Thanks in advance for your help.

This is my first install in a four door sedan. So sorry for the noob question I will be using a single 15 in a ported enclosure in my trunk. My question is, will I have a better/louder low end if I have my sub pointed towards the rear hatch or if it is pointed towards the rear seat? BTW there is about 10"-12" separating the enclosure and rear hatch. Thanks!

I will be running them at 4 ohms with 1000 Watts to each one. I want it to be loud but would like for it to be accurate as well. I listin to all kinds of music but mostly rap, If anyone has any suggestion on which series and with what options let me know, its gettin down to the wire and I need to make a decision.

My son really likes the SA8s and wants to upgrade his stereo system. Can someone help with a box design? I assume someone has done this already and has posted a box design of what they did. I've been looking but have found some crazy installs. We only want to do two subs. Ported since that is the recommended design. If going sealed does not hurt that much, then that would be an easier build. This will be our first sub project together so want to do something on the easy side. We built a pirogue so have skills. BTW, he will be powering these with a Cadence ZRS-2002 going with 2 channel, 2ohm loads. http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/ca/learningc…

I have installed a new pair of Havoc 15" subwoofers in my truck, powered by two SAE-1000D amps bridged and notice a distinct lack of dynamic range, or ability to hit "peaks". It's almost as if it's built to play test tones, only. As soon as I play rock music at relatively high volumes, the fast bass notes and kicks clip and distort. It's not very loud, but I turn the gains down till it no longer clips, as any good car audio enthusiast would. Now it's quieter than quiet, and it just barely wants to clip if a loud enough drum comes along. Now if I play a bass mekanik CD I rattle store windows and do mini-hair-tricks at 20Hz. No clipping, sounds good. Switch to rap or …

  25. I was wondering if I can send my Adire Brahma MkIII to be fixed other than Adire themselves. I got it a while back from Low-Hz, and it got shipped blown (once I opened the smashed shipping box, I pushed in the cone and it was stiff and made scratching noises) I ended up with a Mag D2, but I still have the Brahma and I want it fixed. Thanks
