I bought 2 - 15" Memphis M3's recently, but at different times from different people. This was the first one I bought, I have yet to start on the second one. This one was sold the day after I finished it... Anyway, when I got it, the bottom plate was shifted. (almost every motor I get seems to be shifted) So in order to fix it, first Ihad to pull the bottom plate. Here is the method I came up with to do it, w/o hurting the ferrite. I start with a putty knife, and 2 butter knifes. First I gently tap the putty knife in between the plate and magnet. Then, I gently place each butter knife on each side. Then I remove the putty knife, but leave the butter knives…

So I bought a sundown x-15 based off the rms and it being a sundown sub. I had a sa-15 and loved it, it hit all the notes I wanted and put in work. I had it powered by a kicker ix1000.1 in a 3.5 ish box tuned to 35hz. Now I just swapped the subs in the same box so I'm not too sure what the box is tuned to with the x-15 it hits low notes really nice, but most of the music I listen to doesn't have low low notes. My question is should I keep the x build a box for the x. And get a 8 or 10" for midbass, maybe that will fill the gap. Or sell the x a d get maybe a fi bl or ssa xcon, right now they will be powered by a alpine m240 later upgrading to sundown saz 3500 for a pai…

Question in title If a subwoofer is meant for a 1.6 cubic ft ported enclosure, but let say I put it in a 1.8 or 2.0 cubic ft one, what exactly are the risks and/or consequences? Also, what would happen if a port is too small for the sub? what if the port is too big (too wide/long)?

So, lately Ive been asking a lot of questions about subs that I've been interested in. I've narrowed down the subs to just two choices 2 Sundown SA-12s or 2 Fi SSD 12s. After purchasing the subs I plan to build a ported enclosure and purchase an amp. I want loud subs with deep bass. Tell me which subs you would go with and why. Also if you'd have experience with either subs. Also would like to purchase an amp under 300$ that's 1200-2000 watts any suggestions. Thanks.

So today I replaced my 2 12'' Memphis c3's with a Xcon 15. I've been eyeballing this sub for a while but never had the funds to snag one. I ended up pulling the trigger, but with some hesitation. I didn't want to sacrifice any output moving from 12's to a single 15 and running the same amp. Well, after building a massive 5.75 cubic foot ported box tuned to 32 hz... my mind Is truly blown. I have my sub level at -15 out of 20 on my deck and this thing hits twice as hard as my Memphis c3's, on the same power. Sounds lightyears better ahead of those things also. I really am pissed that I didn't buy my xcon sooner... if your even contemplating buying this... don't waste anoth…

Hey friends, just wanted to share my most recent build with you all, my first Solo X 15. This was a challenging sub to build, but a lot of fun. Big thanks goes out to David, Rusty, and everyone who had a hand in helping make this happen (too many to remember). A lot of people stepped up and helped out, but none more than the man himself, David Moore@PSi. He and Rusty answered every question I could come up with, and without them both, this would not have happened, period. So thanks guys, it really means a lot! So I started with an idea to build a Solo X 15. Little did I know it had already been done, multiple times by PSi. (Check it out) So, I began talking to Da…

Hey guy's let me start off by saying im new to the board, im in the crossfire of buying a mojo 15 or sundown zv4 15, don't really know which is the hardest hitting sub between the two. I have a ford focus se (trunk type) and im debating on doing a custom box in the trunk or inside the car and remove the backseat. So im asking for some help on which sub is the best and the best way to build the box. This will be a single 15" build BTW. I will be using an extra battery, 0 gauge wiring, 3500 amp. Thanks

Sold the sa15s and got a pair of Fi SSDs and must say i'm slightly disappointed. The lows are far better with the fis but the sundowns were far "louder" than the fi's. The box is build to spec and I tuned the amp up and they just can't keep up with the sundowns. I think i'm going to try to trade the ssds and cash for a pair of level 4s.

Which would have deeper and louder bass, which would you choose? I just can't decide on which subs to choose. Either would be in a ported enclosure, also will a 15" sub respond fast enough for classic rock music? Thanks.

I'm thinking about either purchasing 2 12" SSA Gcons, or 1 15" Fi Bl fully loaded, I want deep loud bass, whichever I choose will be going in an s10 extended cab, which should I go with, either will be in a ported enclosure. Thanks.

Hey guys here's the plan. Don't worry about box size, trunk in the cad is huge. I want to run 2 or 4 subs, 15s or 12s. Power isn't a concern, I've got tons of Helix B Ones in the shop to use. What are some cheap subs to run to get as much as I can on music for daily and customer demo. I'm talking cheap. I've got 2 Hifonics HFI12d4's around the shop and they're available but don't know if I'm going to use them. Budget is $200 MAX, the cheaper the better.

I want to purchase two 12's. I want them to have deep, loud bass. Given the right amount of power and a good enclosure which would sound better? 2 Fi SSD with a Flatwind coil, or 2 Gcon 12s

I have 2 12 inch pioneer champion pro's. The amp I am running is an hifonics zeus 3000 watt running at 4 ohms. When the subs are played there is a knocking sound coming from in the box. I dont think the speaker is blown though because when I put pressure on the back of the box, the knocking sound goes away. Any ideas?

There seems to be a lot of different recommendations for port area size for the sp4 anywhere from 120-160. For the box I recently built the specs, are 7 cubic ft tuned to 31hz with 150inches of port. The port is double baffled with 45s in the corners, ill post some pictures in a bit. How do you think a fully loaded Fi sp4 18 will do in this box? I haven't designed too many boxes so I hope it is completely right. Also to note ill be running it on a crescendo 3500.

I'm in the market for a 10" sub and only have space for a sealed box (will be fiberglassing to use otherwise wasted space). Been out of the car audio game for a few years and there's a lot more choices these days than I remember. So here goes, I have an old amp laying around that I'm planning on using and potentially upgrading the amp later on. It puts out 400-500wrms. If I upgrade later it'll probably be to something in the 800-1k range. I don't feel the need to go any higher. Any suggestions here to go SSA or FI (with the high Qts option for sealed)? Both subs are somewhat in the same price range.

I recieved my xcon 15" a week ago, and Wow! where do I begin? After obsessing over craftsmanship (simple yet eye catching) I ended up using a 3.2 cu. ft. enclosure tuned to 30hz. This beast is powered by a 1000/1 (4 ohms) and a nak for the sound source. If there's a way to describe how hard and clean this thing pounds, It's bruce lee kicking you spot on your chest with the music. This is a great subwoofer, I've heard W7's and this one takes the cake especially at its price. Enough talk here's some photos: My ride quick comparison to alpine type r 12" Boxed, carpeted, ready to thump! I would like to thank Aaron, Mark, and the rest of the people at this company for excel…

Well, a midst everything else that's going on around here, subwoofer enclosure, engine replacement, four wheeler repairs (minor), and WORK, the components in my wife's van have all but completely given up the ghost. I do have to say they hung in there for WAY longer than she, I or anyone else would have ever dreamed but everything wears out eventually. They've gotten to the point where they will cut out at high volumes for a short period of time then come back on and it's any combination of the drivers that do it. Just the one tweeter, or maybe both tweeters, or maybe both mids and the tweeters keep going, or sometimes it's a tweeter and a mid on one side or the other.…
