Subwoofers / Speakers

I was given a pair of Earthquake DBXi-12D subwoofers...I found out when i tried to put them in my friends truck, that they are in fact blown. They are supposed to be 4 ohm DVC, but as you can tell from the pics below the VC's are damaged. My question is would it be worth it to look into a recone? These are the speakers in question. Planning on putting either the 15" Fi Q I already have or getting a 15" BL in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Both would be in a ported box to specs. I've read hundreds of user reviews and have a good idea of what both can do. The Q I've only heard in a sealed box with around 1.8 cu ft at the most. Would it honestly be worth it to go through the process of selling my Q and getting a BL? Looking for ""SQL"" and basically if the BL isn't going to be noticably louder considering the Q will play lower I'm going to stick with the Q. But idk what would you do? I definately want output while mainting decent sound, playing low etc.

the tweeter in my sig, if i change the tweeter to a different one while using the crossover would it matter? or because it is still getting the same crossover slopes its ok?

So I've heard some amazing things about this sub and willing to plunge into if you guys can agree and give some advice... I have a small car and having a family and all that am currently trying to use smaller and smaller audio solutions to maximize space to the point where I really don't even want a subwoofer in my trunk anymore. I have an Alpine 12" Type-R 1242D subwoofer and I'm currently looking at an Alpine MRP M500 amplifier. The sub puts out 500 watts RMS (dual voice coil, 4 ohms), and the amp puts out 500 watts at 2 ohms. First, how do I bring the sub down to 2 ohms, like people say they do? Also, does the amp need to be more powerful? After measuring the power it can put out specifically, it came to around 600 watts. Is that too low or too high? I'm looking for a good, deep bass, mainly for rap, just for reference.

Ok so atm I have the ia comps and have them set at 120 lpf. If I go lower they start to bottom out. So I was thinking of going to a 3 "way" setup with some of the new sa8 v2's. I thought about trying to make them fit in the door but thats unlikely So my next thought is to either box them under the front seats or......build boxes to place behind the front seats on the floors. Now I'm only wanting these to fill in the 60ish-120ish area so I'm thinking sealed boxes. Would this work or is it just a plan to fail?

I was thinking about running 4 txx bf 15s in a custom box, but i dont know if i should. if i do should i go ported or sealed. i've always went ported but just wanted to know would it matter. i'm getting the Crescendo BC5500D amp to power em, and 2 xs power D3100s. please help me out should i go with this setup? i already have the big three and zero everything from front to back.

So - I have been askin about 6x9's because I thought I blew mine up - however - come to find out , one of the channels on the stereo actually went - somehow the rear left channel is messed up - I switched to my other deck , and everything sounds beautiful again ... thanks for your opinions everyone , greatly appreciated. Has anyone else ever had a problem like this ?

Well i have been bumping the maw for a couple months now, and have just recently been being hard on it. Today on the way home i was listening to late nite tip, when the whole sound changed. literally like night and day instantly. never saw, or heard anything like this before. now it gets right down and plays the low low note in that song like the others. at first i thought the sub was screwed, cause it sounded so different. then i realised it was playing clearer and louder than before, plus hitting lower. anyone ever experiance this with any sub? pretty crazy huh?

is $330 good price for a AA mayhem 15 shipped i ask him if the cone was stiff or loose he said the middle so does that mean its not fully broken in to? he had two of the subs on a 5k powerbass at 1ohm for about 6 months its a dual 1 reading .9 on both coils

Doing a little cleaning and I found these. No idea where I got them or what they are.

So i'm in college now and i'm meeting new people that like car audio stuff. But they have Legacy and pyramid and things of that such, but their system is loud. I am going to have to attribute it to the car being small. One is a camry with 2 sony explodes and a powerbass basstube(from wallmart) hooked up to a kenwood amp. It beats pretty decent for the money he wpent on it, but i'm gonna say its a small car. Next is a chevy nova, again not as small as a camry, but not big either, so he has 2 mtx's whatever kind and a legacy amp. As some of you know I installed this 10" rockford T2 a few weeks back, wasn't that impressed at first and then i started to like it. anyway, i just picked my car up from the dealer, first thing i notice when i turn on stereo is NO bass, i stop to check all the connections, settings, etc. the basics. everything looks good. get home and put the DMM on my rca's and i can see the amp is getting signal. check the wires coming from the sub. no reading at all. so i'm like WTF and i pull it out of the box. there are NO signs of any kind that would indicate damage. rockford does a pretty good job of concealing all the important parts of their subs, but the portion of the VC that …

Well this pretty much sucks. I have a brand new set of ID Xs-65 Components in my truck, along with a pair of ID CTS-69 in the rear. They are powered off a 4x150 PDX amplifier. I don't have my subs in, I have the crossover set at 60hz HP all the way around. I was driving the other day, listening to the radio at a normal level (Can't crank it without woofers and getting it set up) and one of the 6.5's stopped working. Mind you, I have the gain to just above muted on the amplifier, and again, I'm not rocking out with no adjustments or subwoofers to tune it in. Hello there. I`ve 2x PowerBass XA-3000D amps. And I`m really happy with them. Got a few questions though. I know they can be loaded down to 0.5ohm. Do they kick out any more power at this ohmage? And what is the power figure @ 14.4v?
