Subwoofers / Speakers

Just wanted some input and opinions !! If you were going to design and build your own Subwoofers from a basic entry level to an elite SPL driver. What would be your main concerns ? High BL ? Great Heat Venting ? Insane Power Handling ? Light Moving Mass ? High Sensitivity ? Stiff Suspension ? Thanks !!

Somehow i just discovered that the tweets are blown in my door speakers. Right now i have american bass SQ coaxials in there and i was thinking about going with their component line. The closest i have found to match the components that AB has are the pro series sm16-90 from soundstream. I have the amp to power them but wanted to know how they would sound in my doors, i have plenty of highs and bass to compliment more mids.

I have noticed some noise coming from one of the ssd's and took it out of the enclosure. turns out the tinsel leads have burned down some of the padding.I'd like to replace them to get rid of that terrible noise. so how do i go about taking the pads off? And i was thinking of grabbing some felt pads and 3m spray adhesive to repair. would that do me? Thanks.

Just playing around with my 1st TL experiment. It's ghetto, but sounds terifik for what it is. I have a cheap Walmart Regent HT-391 surround sound. I dropped the 5.25" subwoofer into a 5.5" cardboard tube I snagged from work 8'6" long. I believe that makes a 33Hz 1/4 wave. Once upon a time I had a TP roll glued to the cone for added mass experiments, so I tore it off so the black paper coating came off a little. I can't believe how loud and low the rear of the tube is VS how loud the driver end is... I wish I could do an 18' 22" pipe in my car for an IB3 22"! hey guys!! i recently purchased a 2002 chevy suburban. I will be using the burban as my sound car instead of my dodge charger so my question is... what components do you guys suggest me getting the car speaker sizes are 5-1/4" all around.. front door,rear door and kick panel. i want to get them on an amp was thinking of a sundown amp for sure because i am getting a sundown SAZ-2000 if you guys can help me out PLEASE figure out what components and sundown amp to get!! So I am looking for a sub that could fit my needs. I need something around a 6" mounting depth as that would give me just over 1.5" of backspacing. I was planning for 4 sa 10's but my box wouldn't allow for it. My max dimensions for the box are 27-H x58-W x9.5-D1 x6.12.5-D2. Any help would be great.

i forgot i had this and found it in the closet. its got a small crack in the cone. what should i do with it. would it be worth trying to get someone to recone it? tried testing the coils and im getting all kinds of numbers sitting next to my icon thats waiting for a box to be built

Alright so i'm going to buy an 18" fi bl before summer, but i want the plans for the setup before i buy. My box is 31"H 35"W and only 17"H, and will have a 3" port going along the 31"H, tuned to ~30hz. The sub will be on the same side of the box as the port, is that a problem? The only thing i could think of is that, im taking up 2 seats in my quad cab dodge ram for this, and because of the seat it will be set at an angle. Will the sub perform right, and what should i do, if anything, to my box since it will have the strain of an 18" sub on it. The only way i could get around this would be if i put it in the bottom corner opposite the port.. how does where i put the sub o…

I've heard people changing sizes of the sub when they do a recone, so I guess my question is how? Don't you need the correct basket size or can you recone a 15 or 18" basket into a 12"?

So im putting the ssd15 in a 3.5-4cuft box. Tuned to around 32... do i really need 4-4" round pvc ports? Could 3 6" ports work? Or is my math way off?

I was just wondering what are some of the best ways to keep impedence rise down. I have read that it doesn't matter much in daily but I don't see why that is true, unless it is only a db or so difference. Are there box designs that make a difference or cooling methods?

I just wanted to know, Is there a way to calculate how much power handling drops below tuned freq in a ported box. And how much power handling drops in larger ported enclosures, Other than win isd. I mean is their an actual mathmatical formula or no? Like for example I have 2 Fi Q 15s with BP power in a box that is 9.5 cubes gross 8 after the port @ 33 hz. How do i figure out how much power handling I have in this size of enclosure and how much it drops below 33 hz? Or does everybody pretty much play by ear and listen for bottoming out?

so after purchasing the BTL i need to beef up the rest of the system. Im riding in a 2004 Ford Explorer. I was thinking two sets of RF T1572 (power series!). WRMS 70 a piece. thinking about powering them with a JL audio J2 320.4 (60 watts to four speakers.) Wondering if anyone had any experience with either of these products and any suggestions for other full range speakers? im looking to spend about 350-400 for 2 sets of speakers and an amp. I know its kinda cheap.... but oh well. The head unit is the Eclipse CD7200 MKII (soon to be that is =] i just want some and any input before i make this purchase!! thanks

I recently purchased 2 10" q10 and wanted to know what would be the best box for them to fit in a 2012 ram quad cab

i was thinking about getting a 18inch btl, i do not plan on entering competitions i just simply would like to have a system that hits hard (really hard), sounds good, and lasts a long time. i have a 4000 watt hifonic brutus amp, if this is the right sub for me what options should i choose, or is there a better sub, if so which one?

i was wondering if a sub calls for a 120 sq in port and you have 3 of them do u multiply it by 3 or what?
