Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

  1. I have 2 10" older RE SE with the 12 spoke baskets and will be building 2 sealed boxes for them. Its going in a 300zx twin turbo and so i want one in each corner. (I know one box is easier and better but i need room for t tops etc.) wondering if the enclosure recommendations of .4 compact and .65 optimal for the new ones would be a decent guideline or if anyone knows the recommended specs for these models.

Guys I know just enough to get into trouble and looking for some advise. I've got 2 Fi btl n2 15's that are going to be sealed off from the trunk with a blow thru in the rear deck. Each sub is going to be ran at 1ohm with a Rockford t1500-bdcp amp. I've got 4 sets of Rockford T3 6.5" components and plan on running one set on each channel of my Rockford t800-4bdcp. My question is this..what freq should I cut the subs off at..where should my components pick up at..and are my components enough? Will they be loud enough? Will they go low enough? Thanks for any help you can offer.

I'm using a stealth enclosure that holds a single 10". Mounting depth is 8" and has .75 cu.ft air space and is sealed.I listen to all sorts of music, rock, rap,r&b,metal, etc. I have looked at the following subs...Alpine Type-R 1042D(sounded good),IDQ v.3 (haven't heard) and Re Audio SE-10 (haven't heard). That 's mostly where the problem lies,I don't have any dealers locally that I can actually listen to these subs. I already have a MB Quart Discus 500.1( 250W x 1 @ 4ohms, 500W x 1 @ 2 ohms) that I picked up a few weeks ago for cheap.woild like to keep it under 150.00. Thanks

Just ordered my IA 187 12'' I was wondering if anyone can look over my numbers here to be sure that the box I'm planning on building will work correctly.(for a 12) IA Suggests. Ported 2 cubes - 2.5 cubes, 20 - 30 Inches of Port, 28-35 Hz I have designed a box using this tool. http://www.reaudio.c...t_Box_Calc.html Width 28" Box Height 16" Box Top Depth 12" Box Bottom Depth 18" Wood Thickness 0.75" Square Port Width 1.5" Square Port Length 4" (seems to help tune it in) This gives me. 30.063035251515 Hz It may possibly be less once i put the sub in and account for the .09cuft of space that takes up. I'm asking here, with these variables, Will this box sound good, and work w…

  8. Started by TOOLMAKER,

I decided to temporarily put in one of my SE12's in at 2ohms on my T3002 in mono mode. Giving it approx. 800 watts. The box is 2 cubes after all displacement. For the port I doulble up a pc of 3/4" MDF and glued a pc of 4" pvc pipe through 1 layer and router a 1/2" radius on the top layer to make a homemade aeroport. The length overall of this port is 13". I don't believe I am right in thinking the tuning is at 32. Can someone double check me on this. Also am thinking about shortening the lenght of the port to get about a 35 hz tuning. This is just a temporary daily box for me to have something till it warms up. But I listen to all kinds of music so I needed some…

Would a RE SX 15" do well in a 2.0-2.5ft^3 Ported Enclosure tuned at like 33-35Hz, how would it sound, good or bad? RE recommends 3ft^3 as compact, but I've read on Tempro that a guy had 4 RE SX 12" in 1.25ft^3 each ported and he said it was very loud and sounded good, so what do you guys think?

  13. Hello all. While at first this will certainly seem to be just another "what sub is better" thread, I am indeed seeking the advice of those familar with the possibility spelled out in the thread title. My goals are: 1). Sound quality for multiple genres. 2). Lowest possible frequency response, whether ported and tuned low or sealed in a large dual chamber enclosure. 3). Adequate SPL, albeit valued below sound quality. 4). Would a single 1000 watt subwoofer circumvent and/or surpass the supposed goals of dual 500 watt subwoofers, or would the contrary do so? I have been considering the 15" Icon, as well as the 15" IDmax for a single subwoofer application. As for the dual …

I'll probably get flamed for this question, but here goes. I'll be purchasing a new sub in July and am having some trouble making a decision. I had originally planned on using the current box I have (1.21 cubes sealed) and getting either a SA-12 or Level 3 12" (the cutout is only 11" and those two are about the only ones I've found that will fit). But I've been doing some thinking about it and have come up with another idea. Getting a cheaper sub like a 10" DCON or a SA-8, and getting a really nice ported box built for it (I'm thinking Argent Audio). I'd love to do a IA 187, but I don't know enought about what I'm doing to put 600 watts on a 300 watt sub. Either …
