  2. Alright guys, I finally got my build up and running (its in the build log section if you need to see it) and I am asking myself if I need more power. Currently I am running an AB1100.1, and during testing had it wired up but scored a 150.2. After wiring it down for peak power from the amp it scored a 154.2. Te reason I ask this is because these subs seem to be laughing at that amp.. I mean I know they are underrated at 2250 RMS but they literally only move 3/4 of an inch at most (20-30hz) and get stupid loud in that box. I am looking to add more batteries, maybe another alt, and maybe gonna add another AB1100.1. I am just worried that the 3" coil wont be able to han…

  3. Hello everyone, I was using the search button, but I didn't come up with a solid answer. I'm hoping someone here can help me out. I'm looking for the recommend box size for 1 orphan sealed. I've read from other post that said the orphan are about the same as the SA-8 and likes the sealed box size of .17^3ft. I've also read a post from mike, that It needed .2 to .5^3ft, but I'm not sure if it was the recommended for seal or port. I actually wanted to try out they type of boxes and see which one sounds better to me. I do want to to try to make a passive radiator box, which I believe these subs were intended for. Here is the info from another post on this forum. T/S Parame…

I recently got my first comp set. They where used. I hooked them up to my head unit. They are working just not much came out of the mid bass speaker. Is this do to lack of power from the head unit? I have an amp to power th just do not have all my cables to connect it. I was excited and wanted to here them. Should I expect better results once connected to my amp?

Whats up fellas, I wanted to get some input on what you guys think. I have 4 Sundown audio SD-10's that will be pushed bey a Planet audio BB2400.1. After doing some measurements I dont think I can get optimal box volume for all 4 in a ported box so I was thinking of dropping it to 3 of them in a ported enclosure, that would raise the impedence a bit so I figure about 1500 watts. Or I can run all 4 of them in a sealed box and give them about 2K watts. I am more concerned with the lower frequencys which is why I am thinking of giving up cone area and wattage to be able to tune lower. Do you guys think with the extra cone area and wattage that I could get as much low frequen…

Hey guys, I heard a set of Death Row 12s today and I am THOROUGHLY impressed. Ton of clean, hard bass without losing much musicality so to speak. I was just wondering if anyone has experience with both the DR's and the DP's and if you could answer a question. I've heard from a few people that the DP's are burp princesses and don't sound very good on music. Is this the case? Or do they perform similar to the DR's? Are they burp princesses? The DR's to me sounded like a lower power xcon (don't get mad or nothing, just opinion). Looking to run a pair in my cadillac and a single in my wife's 2010 Speed 3. Opinions?

Hi, I posted here awhile back having trouble getting any output from two dcon 12 d4s in a sealed box. I tried them out in a ported box I had for my ED subs and there was a definite increase in output. But there are a couple of things I need your opinions on. The box is not spec for the dcons. Basically it's a 2.8 cu ft shared sub chamber with a 3x13x40 slot port which should give it a tuning around 28Hz. So it's undersized by about .7 cu ft from spec. Now the main issue. I have been running these at 4ohms off of a PPI A600 and while it sounds good, the amp runs VERY hot. Granted it always has, as has any of the Art series I've run at 2ohms stereo or 4ohms bridged. The oth…

  11. Hi Guys I'm also planning to do the door speakers (With an Amplifier) in my car and I have never done this I've always only added a sub. So I may have a lot of questions and I'm looking for some direction. This will be hooked up to factory Head unit Via LC6i (unless directed otherwise.) My car has 8 total speakers. Front door has 6.5" speakers and then tweeters in the dash. Rear doors have a 6.5" at the bottom and then a tweeter next to the door handle. I have added pics below for reference. I have no idea what the depth would be or if spacers would or could be used? Not sure how to find that out. Now I don't want to go crazy but I'm willing to flex my bud…

Hello Everyone, I have had an Infinity Reference 1260w in a sealed box powered by an RE Audio DTS 1000.1 subwoofer in my vehicle for over 6 months now, and I have decided to upgrade. I purchased another of the subwoofers, and attempted to install it. RMS Values of 1260w's = 300w @2ohm DTS1000.1 = 560w For some reason that I can't determine, it isn't playing as loud/well as before, much less louder as it should. Is this because my amp is too weak? I am attempting to wire it down to a 2 ohm load, and to do this I have run the speaker wire from the amp to the first sub, then looped it to the 2nd. AMP + ---> sub #1+ ----> sub #2+ AMP - ---> sub #1- ----> …

Well this weekend has been eventful. I was sure I wasn't going to have enough time to do all 3 and I was correct in my assumption. However, I took a giant stab at it and have took some pics along the way. I have been doing this a little at a time so if you have any advice then by all means. This is my first attempt at reconing any sub and I will be the first to tell you that if anyone uses as much glue as what came on these things then just let someone else do it if the price is negligible. It's different if the sub/motor is worth reconing to begin with, but what the hell I need to learn anyway right? So to start things off let's take a look at the culprits. Ok, s…

  14. I have a set of Kenwood KFC-P709PS connected to a Kicker 350.2KX *i think it is*. So about 3 weeks ago I moved the amp so I can put the back seat down. Then today, I put hooked the RCA cable back to it, and Im getting bass and whatnot but no vocals at all. I changed RCA cable. Did nothing. I changed the speaker wire. Did nothing. Tried just the speaker without the tweeter. Still nothing. Checked power and ground connections. Nothing. I factory reset my headunit which is a KVT-516, and that didnt work. Im lost here. I checked all the connections on the back of the head unit and all that. Everything is good. I wanna say my amp is buggered but its pounding my speakers like n…

  15. my friend is looking to build a box and install a sub under the back seat. we don't have the dimensions of our space but we were wondering what a good sub would be that is 5" or less deep. were thinking one 10" or two 8" subs in a sealed box. or one 8" in a ported box. any recommendations would be very appreciated. we will be able to fit a 1cuft box according to the stealth box that is sold on crutchfield.

Hi everyone, I've been doing some shopping lately looking for a new sub and wanted to get some advice. Heres a few things specifically I'm kinda basing my next purchase upon. 1. Budget- $450 (approx) 2. single subwoofer setup only 3. minimum 1500w RMS 4. Best SQ possible at the same time id love something that can hit pretty damn hard (140 decibels if possible) 5. Very durable!! I've already blown 2 soundsplinter rlp-18s i need something that can take some serious abuse. ( something that actually can withstand in hot weather) I will be using a a jl 1000/1v2 to power the sub ( Nak cd400 headunit). So far I've been browsing TC sounds Axis series, Ascendant audio mayhem ser…

  19. I recently wanted to have a under the seat build for my truck, but now I've come up with the decision to go a little bit bigger with the enclosure. I don't want to take my seats completely out. my plan is to flip my seats up and build a box that's I can take out if I needed to use my rear seat. 15' s are out the question cause the enclosure will be to large to move around, so my options are multiple 10' s or 12' s. I have my saz-3500 but I plan on selling it and get a saz-4500 or two crescendo bc2000's I want to keep the price of the subs under $1000. I listen to 90% rap and I will not be competing. the source I have to work with is W-50 D-16 H-17.5

  22. Hello, I am going to be putting a 12" XCON in a ported box into my Passat. I was looking at the Crescendo 2000D to power it at 1ohm. Since I'm on stock electronics I was thinking I will just keep it at about half gain maybe slightly higher and see how everything does. I do plan to do some upgrades or possibly add a second battery. My trunk comes designed to house a battery so "I THINK" it would be an easy addtion. Do the Gain's work like that? If the AMP is rated at 2250RMS and the gain is set at halfway does that mean I will rougly be putting 1125RMS to the sub? Any Enclosure recomendations? Right now i'm planning to just use the SSA optimal enclosure design,…

Hey everyone, I've been working on getting everything ready for my new set up. This will be going in a 01 blazer s10 extreme, it is my daily driver and will most likely not be doing competitions. Will put up pictures as I progress. What I have and want: HU - (OWN) - Pioneer DEH-X9500BHS PROCESSOR - (OWN) - miniDSP 4 x 10 hd. I was planning on getting the MS8 but I've heard it does not like trying to work with horns. Can I expect this from the miniDSP as well (I really hope someone with experience can chime in here) or will the DSP help my speakers shine? SUBSTAGE - (OWN) - 1 2010 Fi Q 18" d1, fully loaded (without high Qts) in a 8 ft^3 box tuned to 29 hz. (Best sounding …

What does inverting the subwoofer do for performance?? Is this completely cosmetic or does it do something differently than normally mounting the sub?? Also, How can you mount a sub backwards if the trim piece only fits on one way?? Is there a different trim piece needed to do this type of mounting?? Thanks everybody.
