Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

  1. Ok so running two rockford p3 15's 2.5 cubic per sub still within Rockford specs of 1.86 to 3.0 cubes. Subs are d2 wired on a RF T1500BDCP at 2ohm so subs seeing a few hundred watts over rms should I be ok with subsonic off? Amps filter is 28hz with a 12db slope . A few people said because I went with closer to the large side I should use the filter but I'm not sure I lose a lot of low end with it on .

  2. I bought a 10" powered under seat subwoofer from the sound storm https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CY13W2/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and used an LC2i to convert the speaker signal from the rear left speaker to RCA outputs. I do not have a subwoofer stock as i have the lower trim level which doesnt incude a factory sub. I finished the setup and can barely notice the subwoofer working. The sub turns on and does work, but is extremely weak/quiet, not even as powerful as the stock rear speakers. I have tried almost everything to try and get it to work and get more bass but nothing seems to work. If someone can give me some feedback or advice that would…

I had two Pioneer Championship PRO (TS-W3003D4) 12" subs (600watt RMS each) on a Hifonics Zeus 1200 watt amp wired at 1 Ohm in my 02 Tahoe. It was pretty powerful, but I still would like a little more punch in the chest, so I'm now thinking about maybe going with 3 Kicker Comp-VRs and a better amp, OR maybe if there are more powerful 12"s with the right amp combination. I'm at a point where I'm ready to take this seriously now. What brands or whatnot would I need?

Well, I'm looking to painlessly install some stuff in my truck I don't feel like cutting and welding and I MUST retain all of my bed, so the only space available is behind the seat, I've done some research and the best value to me for my buck seems to be the JL 12TW3. I was looking at the Alpine Type Rs, but I'm not spending $600 for one driver. . . From Alpine. . . That's just absurd. Does anyone have any input or experience with any other brands?

I would like to find a good selection of tweeters to pair with my MCintosh 630's https://www.ebay.com/itm/MSS630-McIntosh-COMPONENT-SPEAKERS-TWEETERS-MIDS-X-OVERS-GREAT-CLEAR-SOUND-NEW-/130617525735 and Audison bit1. I am also looking for a 100X4 amp that sounds clean. This has to fit in my 1990 Lotus esprit. The plan is and is going along. To finsh building my custom doors that house tweeters near the handles and midbass by the knees. The midbass will have boxes of around 4L-6L of capacity and be ported. Then when the speakers are built I plan on adding in a 4x100 amp for the front connected to the bit1 and having that connected to a CD or better quality audio so…

I have an 07 ram quad cab. Second time owning this truck. It has hertz energy 6.5"comps in doors and hertz dieci 5.25" in rear doors. I have a jl XD500/3 on comps and the sub channel puts out 300 at 2ohms. I will not change amps. I will be buying that under seat box for 1 10" .65-.8ft^3 depending on which box I decide to get. So I want SQ. Loud is subjective loud to me wont be loud to you all I know. I really want to fill in the bottom octaves is ideally what I want. So what sub for the small sealed box and 300 watts? Pricing the cheaper the better $125 is probably the max cause thats $200 for sub and box and im broke for car audio. …

  8. Hey guys, I was originally going to run my Treo Engineering SSX 18", but decided I don't want to go through upgrading the alternator. Where is the most you recommend running off the stock ALT with an upgraded battery? Can I get away with 2KW? I'm looking to run 2x15's now, something around 750RMS. I'm not to familiar with this power range, what do you guys recommend? Something around $150 each preferably Needs to fit in a 2010 Maxima

Need a little help with box design. I tried out about 6-7 of them now and they all give me different numbers. I want to do a 6" Aero port (unless recommended otherwise). Any sites you guys know of where it takes displacement for the sub and port into consideration while calculating? I tried BCAE1.com, Internal dimensions are 12.5x28.5x21.9 = 7801/1728= 4.5cu. ft. Their site is saying Gross volume = 4.2, which is already wrong, then -.32 for sub displacement and also need to subtract port displacement....?? RE's site doesnt allow aero port calculations.

  10. Does anyone know of a thiele-small parameter database or where I could go to get this info for a slightly older sub? In this case I have an original RE Audio SE 12 d2 that I am trying to build a box for but I cant find the needed info. I called the company and the lady said they don't have the info since they were discontinued. P.S. there have been two versions released since the one I have. Any help would be great.

I'm just curious is all. Looking at these for my application they don't look back spec wise. $ wise is really good for me. I'm broke as a joke right now. Sealed box like .8ft^3 ish depending on where I buy the box. Could be .5 could be .65 could be .85. So this 10" wants .75 so im in the ballpark. I've just never heard of these. Tried the search and 0 results found. Gotta be an error. Are these as bad as the price reflects?

I'm looking for the best set of component speakers around $100 and coaxial around $50-60. Doing a budget build in my new car. Speakers will be powered by NVX JAD900.5 about 70w at 4ohm First I was looking at the NVX V-series 6.5" component and coaxial. They have decent reviews I can get both speakers in a set for $129.99 What are some other options in the same price range. I'll be using a sundown sa-8 v3 for a sub. Just want something that will sound good with it.

Hi everyone! This is my first post on the forum as I found myself liking the way SSA forum is handled versus other car audio forums out there and I'm looking for advice from people who really know their stuff! My build is very budget oriented as I am 18 and in college but that's not to say i do not take my bass seriously. I have an APMI 2K with 1/0 KnuKonceptz Bassik wire ran for power and no big 3, all powering 2 10s under my back seat in my 2012 F150 which has already been sound deadened slightly and the back cabin vents sealed. Now to the meat and potatoes of my post. I am looking for some new drivers. My airspace is limited to 2.05cf before displacement shared by both…

Got the 12" hellion installed earlier today. Thought would take around 3 to 4 hours. But ended up taking 7 hours for amp install, LOC, sub into box, and box into trunk, tuned a bit and all good. The installer seems very knowledgable and super chill dude. I feel bad that it took so long... I was there just hanging out and talking with him throughout the whole thing and paying attention to learn some. Will post more pics tomorrow hopefully after work. I was suprised about how long it took to get through the firewall with a grommet. I guess the new acura TLX are not easy to do. Also that the installer tapped into the power and ground wires for the LOC into the ampl…

I was wondering if anyone had any input on this matter So I have a single 15" xcon that I can barely fit into my trunk, it's a 2005 grand prix. I've built two boxes for it and both of them will not fit smooth in the trunk. Meaning I tried to get the optimal box volume for the sub and it wouldn't fit unless I put the top plate on after it was in the trunk. Not a good idea when trying to remove it. So I was thinking of maybe trying 4 8 inch subs. I just wanted to hear if any one had any thoughts of the output comparison. Will the output be somewhat close to the 15, will it have a completely different sound. I've never heard 4 8s so I have no idea how it will sound

  17. So I see theres a subwoofer that comes in a 4 ohm and a 2 ohm version. I believe a 2 ohm version would be easier to run and most D class amps are compatible with lower ohm rated subwoofers? So is the only reason between the versions, based on which amplifier you have? Just trying to understand this. Thanks! Also, yes I did buy an Acura TLX 2017 tech. With the ELS speaker system. It sounds pretty good but is lacking in quality bass. It has an 8 in subwoofer which sound distorted and horrible. I'll first start by getting a decent subwoofer and then speakers later. Edit: also what SSA sub would be comparable to the JL 12w6 and one comparable to the JLw3…

I have a 06 Toyota corolla and the rear speakers are right next to each other (about 6" apart), killing the stereo effect. I was considering getting 6x9 boxes and setting them on top of the back dash so I can get the separation, but I'm pretty sure putting speakers that large in boxes that small will diminish my sound, mainly the low end, maybe kill it. Right now it has a nice punch, sounds like the drums are in the car. when I'm listening, the front has great separation, of course, but everything from the back seems to come from the center. I need advice.... Boxes? Is there sum kind of separating thing I can put on the rear deck? Just leave it?

Hi forum folk, I'm here tonight to ask about a topic I've never discussed before. Only because I had never seen them before I came to SSA and now that I've seen them once I've seen them a thousand times! The topic of the SSA Evil 6.5(sp?) Is one that I see on this forum with a turn off every "page" and it seems like many of you SSA-ers have gone to some lengths to assure you were among this elite crew of car audio enthusiasts. So what is it about these speakers that is so awesome that you're willing to wait out their build and restock? Granted they are inexpensive mid-range drivers in a sea of likely overpriced mid-range speakers but I want to know what sets them apa…
