Been out of car audio for some time... and now, with my new car... I am addicted again I was able to pick up a set of Boston Z6 comps for dirt cheap (yea Craigslist!). And have them hooked up to an old MTX amp, don't even remember the model, that I had laying around. Since these are 3ohm and I have them bridged to the MTX 4chan... the MTX doesn't like it. I don't think I ever had an amp get that hot. So I am looking for amp recommendation to power these hungry things. Any ideas? Thanks!

I just got my Pioneer PRS components running active on a Rockford Power 600-4 amp and Pioneer P800-PRS head deck. So far I'm quite pleased with the results but it's not perfect. On some songs I notice distortion/light bottoming which I traced to come from the 6.5" mids in the doors, and only when I'm really rocking out I've got them crossed over fairly low, at 80Hz because I've got my sub-stage crossed at 63Hz. I like the way this sounds, I could cross the mids higher and solve this problem but then it sounds like a large hole. I don't want to raise the sub crossover point either to fix this, my subs play pretty sloppy IMO near 80Hz plus I don't like what that does to…

Hello SSA, i recently picked up 2 12" mtx 9500's in a custom HUGE ported enclosure. i have a ext. cab ford ranger and the box is about 6"'s from my roof. the length of the box is fine, but its WAYYYY to deep. i was wondering on what i should do. i had 1 12" mtx 9500 in the sledgehammer ported box and it sounded AMAZING in my truck. i know alot of people say the sledgehammer boxes are hsit, but for osme reason it sounds really good in my truck. i cant find the sledgehammer boxes anywhere, so i decided to just build my own. iv never built a box befor. i have all of the tools to do it and all the materials in my garage ready to be cut. i have a good amount of knowledge when …

I built this box for my sons Scion. I did it this way so we could still use the area for light duty cargo space. 1.8 ft^ @34 hz with the port running straight along the back. It hit's decent for the L7 10 and Cadence 600ish watts. I know this isn't a killer build but as of right now I only have about $200 in the HU, amps, sub, and comp sets. Budget build for a kid kinda thing. Unfinished because I'm still on the fence... Messy here too for now... Here's the current port exit area. It's a little tighter toward the bottom than I like and why I brought all this up. I've been thinking of switching to a Sundown SA-12 in the same box running the same amp. Is the downfire/…

Okay, so I got my 12' Pioneer subs a few weeks ago and I put them into an old box that I made for my other system a while back. After a few days of listening to music on my current setup, I noticed that my woofers were not hitting the lows AT ALL and I am a big fan of C&S Music so this was really disappointing for me. I ran all the parameters if the sub in bass box 6 and my recommended tuning frequency is like 21 Hz. Am I doing something wrong here? Also, Could anyone really help me out and just give me a quick rough draft of a suitable box design for this application. The specs on the sub are here http://www.pioneerusa.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Car/TS-W3002D2_Instructi…

Sup,I believe that this is my 1st posting here at SS.I didnt know that there was even a forum for Stereo Integrity but I'm glad to see there is one.First I like to say that the Magnum is a monster of a sub(I have the 'claw' basket),definitely one of a kind.If something were to happen to this driver I'll either get it fixed or just keep it b/c the basket IMHO is a classic.Props to Nick & the gang @ SI for well built product. As u can see by my sig.(pic in my other reply is 1.4cf) that I am presently running 1 Mag in a 1.0cf sealed box ,the output from this setup is truly amazing.Even though it sounds great sealed,I really the ported sound better. Now to the fun stuff,I …

alright, this isnt really about the subs in general, but I am not starting a build log right now so figured this is where it should go. I recently picked up a trio of ppi pcx102 dual 2 10" flat cones. I am going to wire them to a 1.33 ohm load, got a few ideas on amps but am wondering about how much power I could give to them. they are rated at 250 rms but was wondering if they could possibly handle a little more as long as its clean? I have more than this but am willing to devote about 5.5 cubes before port and sub to this build. I dont think 3 10s need that much air, but I have it if needed. subs will be forward firing for no other reason than the fact that I can then t…

I was thinking of buying a 18in or two, or maybe even a 21in DP. But in all reality I probably should just build on what I have. So I was thinking another 2 Dcons. I'm not sure how much louder it would be, or if it'd be worth it to try. I saw Hairyunicorns 6 Dcons, and yeah they looked like they looked like they did decent, but I think his issue was the box. A bit small. I have lots of room for these Dcons, and don't care about cargo space so... I was trying to design a box that would give the Dcons all the space they need, without losing my backseats. But if I have to... that is an option.. The space I have to work with without taking out the back seat: 35" high 51" wi…

Hello fellas, I just picked up a pair of Claw Magnums from Hoss. I've wanted to try these for a long time, and finally came across a pair that I could afford. My only question now is, what size of box is recommended for a pair of these subs? Also, if somebody could point me in the direction of about how much port area is optimal, that would be great also. Thanks, Ry
