Hey guys, as the title says I'm looking for a single larger sub to replace my two infinity reference series 1050W's but still provide the same amount or better performance. This is to save space in the back of my cherokee without sacrificing loudness or quality. I am running a infinity 611a sub amp and I would like the sub to match up well with it, it puts out 657 watts rms at 2 ohms. Being a student funds are a little limited but I was looking at the Sundown SA-12. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Edit* The Infinity's are in a sealed box dimensions 25.5 x 10 x 12, I Would prefer the box to not come above the back seats which is about 18", I could always have the s…

Hey everyone thanks for having me. So I am rebuilding my substage after blowing one of my ID 10s last week, which I had 2 of in a sealed enclosure with .6ft^3 each...and it was "lacking" to say the least. I have a 2005 F150 Supercab and I'm pretty limited to what I can put under the back seat. In getting back into car audio after over a decade, I am blown away by the kind of output todays subs are capable of, even from single driver systems. In talking to custom enclosure guys, it seems I'm pretty maxed out at around 2ft^3 which I'm thinking will be around 1.75ft^3 after port displacement (tuned into the low 30's) I'm looking for something that will have fairly signific…

I’m looking to build a ported enclosure for (6) Ampere Audio AA-2.5 6.5” D2 subs. They will be run on a 5k/1 ohm stable amp wired at a 1.33 ohm load. There will be plenty of power as they are 500 rms and 800 max. I can’t seem to get anything from Ampere Audio on the port size I need. With sub displacement my box needs to be 2.48 CF (+) port displacement. Does anyone have suggestions or know how to calculate the port size? Square inch and length is what’s needed. Hopefully someone can help on this

My buddy wants to know which would be the loudest set up... He is starting out with BoX/Sub first before he buys the AMP. should he go 2 12's 1 15's or 1 18 (if he can fit it in that dimension) SUB choices BTLS, LEVEL 5's, MAYHEMS!! REMEMBER the loudest possible set up!! We just measured his trunk and the biggest he can go is L 27" x W 32'' x H 17"

Ok, I am in the market for my first Amp, and Sub set up, I have done tons of research and have talked to the guys at carstereo.com. I have a 2007 honda accord V6 EX-L, I have all stock speakers and all stock power, but it already sounds pretty good for all stock. I want my set up to sound smooth and fluent, rather than just ridiculous bass. I think I and going to get Fi Q15" sub, and Memphis PRD 16 1000.1, If there is any other set up that would meet my needs for around the same price, please let me know. Fi Q15 Memphis 16 PRD 1000.1

I'm looking into some new speakers for the rear spot in my ride (I have only stock as of now), although I have gone all kicker as far as the other speakers so far I want to throw either some Infinity or polk audio in the rear. I guess my question is what are better (or how are they different) Kappa or Reference style speakers?? Also I may scrap the whole Infinity/Polk idea and just go with some 6' Alpine type R's, but I've heard they have issues with the tweeters can anyone confirm? Anyway thanks for your time and be patient with my beginner lever questions, thanks.

i currently have a pair of polk db 6.5 components. the 6.5s dont go low enough, they are running on a power bass XAX2160FD 100rmsx2 @ 4ohms. i have been thinking about using the tweeters and the xover and installing a pair of peerless 830946 woofers. im not sure where the xover is actually set. but would this work? or what would you guys reccomend? i have a 15" ssd on 1300rms in the back on my tundra access cab. these would go in the doors btw.

Ok so i have recently traded and got a DC XL-18 M1, im not familiar with subs(never ran a DC). Im trying to come with with a good enclosure and will be using aeroports. (<- Saves me some hatch space for stuff) I did see that the DC site says 5.5 cf net for the 18's, but im not sure how to determine how much port i would need for it. My goal is for Daily with good SPL. Really i want it be loud lol. I tune at 40hz because it gives me MY perfect medium of daily and SPL(Thats just me) for the occasional comp. The formats are burps and the other is Music average for 2 different orgs. So i was thinking about going 5.5cf net with maybe a single 8" aero, but again im not…

I am not trying to make this complicated but from what i've been told in the past, you never want to wire 2 different speakers together of different resistance. Conclusion would be one sub would get more power than the other. "If" that's true, then doesn't that mean- For 3 Dual 2 ohm subs, if they were all wired in parallel, wouldnt one of the 3 subs receive less power than the other 2? My thinking - take all 3 subs, wired in parallel - 3 1 ohm coils left. parallel those, 1 0.5 ohm coil and 1 1 ohm coil, 1 ohm coil receive less power, correct? If this is true, if i want a 3 sub combination off of 1 amp at a 1ohm load, would i need 2 dual 2s and 1 dual 1 version? Wiring …

Been a long time out of the scene, so I'm trying to bring myself up to speed on stuff. I recently purchased a 1985 Cavalier convertible and the stereo has got to go! I'm not young anymore, married, kids, but won't settle for crap, so I'm looking mostly at SQ, but needs to be fairly loud since it's a convertible. The cavalier has an open area behind the center console, and I can fit an 8" behind there and tuck the enclosure under the dash on the passenger side. I think it'll be a fun/challenging project. Issue is, what 8" to go with?? It has to be sealed, small and handle up to 400w (Soundstream Continuum is 200w x 1 @ 4ohm). Was considering a Kicker Solobaric at fi…

So I have an 08 Grand Prix GXP currently with one 12" xcon in a khaotic enclosure and it beats hard and sounds good. Powered by a stetsom 1.5k. But I havent done a project in a while and I kinda want more bass in my car. Recently added memphis pf 6.5's and 6x9's powered by my p400-4. I found 2 12" 1500 series dd's a guy has for sale with a custom built box with 6.5 cf for $225. Would this beat harder than my xcon. I know its a good deal but if it dont get me anywhere no need for the buy. If this isnt a upgrade let me know what you guys think would be a better 2 sub combination than my single xcon or even a better single combo just figured might as well throw another sub i…

I was trying to spec out a large enclosure car audio build. I am working in the range of greater than 13ft^3, but less than 14ft^3(depending on speaker displacement and thickness of mounting. I am unable to respec the box dimensions. I was wondering if this box would be capable of working with two IB315's or if this is too little of a volume for proper operation. I am looking at a QTC of between .735 and .75 depending on just how much space I lose to sub, sound proofing, and wood displacement(not sure if this calculation would stay the same with two subs sharing the same volume?). My desire for an IB setup is low power requirement needs, and using the box as built. Thanks…
