Hey, I just got a 15" BL in a a 3.6 cube box tuned to 33hz. It pounds and rumbles hardcore, but doesn't move enough air to make me happy. So I'm looking for some new setup ideas... My car is a 1996 Cutlass Supreme, so I don't have tons of trunk space. But I'm looking for something ridiculous that I can fit in here. Maybe 2 12"'s or something like that. I can proboly fit 2 15" in a sealed but I want ported So what are some ideas? I've looked at Orions and DD 9512 or maybe 2 13w7 even though there crazy overpriced. What are your opinions?

I have a JBL gto 1200.1 II amp that puts out about 1100 watts at 2 ohms. Right now I have 2 Orion HP 12s in 1.2 cubes each and they sound ok but I would like a louder setup that'll have good sq. I'm considering a different pair of 12s sealed or a single 12 ported. I've always ran sealed setups with 12s and I'm thinking of trying a pair of ported 10s. Can a pair of ported 10s get louder than and have good sq like a pair of sealed 12s? Right now I have 2 Orion HP 12s sealed.

Whats up...first wanted to say thanks to everyone on the SSA forums.. Very glad I found it. A lot of good info and members here.... now that I'm done kissing ass lol ..... I need some recommendations.. I recently built an enclosure to replace the old setup in my Eclipse. I built it to fit how I wanted in the hatch, and did not have a pre-planned volume. When I finished this thing, I ended up with: 1.62 cu ft Slot Ported @ 32hz 7.5" max mounting depth. I layed out both 12" and 10" cut out patterns on it, and have a Type R 10" temp mounted in it so I could still play until I chose on a final driver. I'm actually very impressed how the Alpine is playing in this enclosure. …

I can't seem to make up my mind what I want to run in the Supra for a substage... 12" or 15"?? Box will be max. ~3ft^3 regardless (fiberglassed spare tire well)...Power supplied from a PG Tantrum 1200.1... The install won't be visible at all, so I'm not concerned about anyone "seeing" it. I guess it all comes down to a question of sensibility? Do I really need a 15" powered by 1500W in a hatchback? Or will a 12" w/ 1500W suffice? LOL I've never owned a hatchback before, nor have I had much experience with audio systems in them...you guys will have to help me out... Front stage, you say? Well...I already have that one figured out...

Quick question that i should know but i don't. I know crossovers split frequencies to tweeters, and midranges, but do they split the power provided as well? For example, if I have kicker ss components which are rated at 100 watts, and I provide a 100 watts from my amp, are the tweeters seeing 50 watts, and the midranges seeing 50 watts? or does it mean, that there is a constant 100 watts of power being supplied to the tweets/midranges at the same time, making each speakers capabilites 100 watts rms? If they do split power, why do they rate the same exact tweeters which are sold seperatley(not part of a component set) at 200watts peak/100watts rms if they are only feedin…

I have been in contact with many, many companies over the last few weeks. Companies that sell drivers, customize them, sell just parts, repair shops, you name it. No one has surrounds capable of more than 55mm one way. I keep getting told excess of 30mm Xmax is easy, 10" and 11" spiders not a problem. But surrounds. Surrounds is the issue. So then I emailed many, many, many companies looking for just surrounds. Stone walled. I am willing to pay $600 per 18"... either 4 for my van, or 6, 2 more for my home theater. $3600 for 6 18's. I'll start vague, Xmax as of right now is no longer a requirement, but this has to be reasonable. I can't have 50mm of excursion that is unusa…

i got confirmation from chris at db-r that my 1500d will be here this week. im going to run 1/0, and drop a yellowtop in my car sometime this month. i have several woofers: 2 old zeuz 12" 825w, 2 jl 12w0-8's (kinda useless with the saz) and one new jl10w3v3-4. i was considering throwing two more 10w3v3-4's in to run around a 1 ohm load on the three, however im aware they arent the greatest speakers. my question is this: for LSQ, in a 1995 honda accord ex cpe, running the saz1500d am i going to be pissed if i buy 2 more 10" jl's, could i fit a single 15 or 12 and get the same or more output while maintaining the sq? im trying to budget my woofers and enclosure for under …

As stated in my intro thread, I have an '07 Ram Megacab. I have a decent amount of space to play with behind my rear seat. Dimensions are below. Ignore the dual sub design, it's just a photo to put the dimensions on. Original idea was a pair of sealed 12s. I talked with pro-rabbit and he suggested a single ported 12 GCON as one option, until he had exact measurements. He's been super swamped lately (understandably), so I'm trying figure out what I should purchase during this Black Friday sale while I can still save money. I've had all sorts of suggestions (whether they work with my space or not, I don't know) in my intro thread here: http://www.soundsolu...__fromse…

Ok so i have a JL Audio 12w6v2 and a Xterminator 1600.4 amp. My amp handles only up to 4ohms bridged but the sub goes 8 or 2. At 8 it sounds like the amp is pushing out all it can so i think it doesn't sound good, at 2ohms it sounds good but i cant turn it up becuase protection comes on. Is there any way to get the sub up to 4ohms by adding some kind of resistor? Has anybody done this before, if there is no cure i guess i can run my Alpine MRP-M450 which is 2ohms stable but i was trying to see if i could just use one amp. I'm new by the way lol Thanks,

im just about ready to pull the trigger on a Focus Hatch and im really debating putting 4 18" MJ's in it (sealed). ive been wanting an SQ leaning S Q L setup for a while. The enclosure however would have to have 2 of the 18's firing up and 2 firing down. Does anyone know if this style enclsosure would even work? im not too framiliar with wave cancellation and other technical aspects but im just trying to get a feel if this idea is plausible. its this same concept however I would be building the box myself: http://cgi.ebay.com/4-HOLE-10-CHAMBERED-CO...1QQcmdZViewItem ALSO ive searched just about every MJ 18 thread on the forum and im still trying to get more feedback on ho…

Now, for a little explaining. We're going to have our logo at the top across the back (where your sholderblades are), which is what "SI" is in the poll above. The first option listed above is to put the text "Subwoofers" under our logo and then start the phrase below that. The second option is just for our logo and then the phrase under that. The phrase that we've decided on will take up the back of the shirt, it's not just going to be a little line on the back. So anyway, put "Subwoofers" under our logo or no? I'm voting no, but the VP votes yes, so the rest is up to you guys.

Just picked up a pair in a trade. Probably going in my trailblazer. Anyone have any experience with these? I dig the lows and it's looking like I'll be tuning for 31-33Hz. Any trailblazer people have any tricks of the trade for the build? I'm thinking subs up, port back. This will be a daily on around 1k. Might chase numbers just to see, but looking for low freq performance. Well I set off an Audi TT's car alarm with it yesterday. Right now the 8 is fighting through two layers of sound deadened steel to get sound into the cab, but it sounds great. For an 8, it goes incredibly low. The only things it doesn't pick up very well are subsonics, but down to 20 Hz is flat in my car. I'm doing my best to take care of it even though my amp could fry it in a second, but other than worrying about blowing it when I have it turned up the woofer is performing great. SQ-wise, the 8 disappears, which is great. The 8 will be KILLER for a two-way horn setup. That's literally all that would be necessary, a horn and our 8 per side.

There is holes on the other side of the basket for more terminals*the gold colored screw things that you put the wire in* looking on the sub there is no spiders or anything for a 2nd coil, any ideas?? thought all of them were dual 4

Okay.. So last time I tried to design a box myself, a got the dimensions a bit wrong, there was a few things I wanted to make a bit different. Here are all the specifications Iv came up with and hopefully they are right this time. Box Net Volume 6.75 cubic feet Port Area 126 inches2 Port Tuning 30hz Port Internal Dimensions 9” x 14” x 46.63” Port Displacement (8.25” of the port will be external)(33.38” Internal Port) 9.75” x 15.5” x 14.25” (Part A of "L" Port) =1.24625651 cubic feet 9.75” x 15.5” x 18.38” (Part B of "L" Port) = 1.60745226 cubic feet 1.24625651 + 1.60745226 = 2.854 cubic feet + 0.18 cubic feet (Subwoofer Displacement) = 3.034 cubic feet (Total Displac…

Finally getting all the pieces together for my build. The only missing piece(s) to the puzzle is the subwoofer(s). I will be attempting to go with a 3-way fully active front stage which will consist of Scanspeak D2004/6020 tweets, Dayton RS75-4 midranges and Peerless 830883 Midbasses powered by either a JL XD600/6 or Sundown sax100.4&125.2 ... I'm not necessarily going for a strictly SQ setup, but i am trying to build a well balanced and accurate system. With my tweets on-axis in the a-pillars and midrange/midbass in the kicks, along with plenty of eqing, i hope to achieve quite good imaging for everyday listening. I want to keep this system for a very long time and e…
