i have 2 15" Sundown sa-15's in a 7 cuft box in a 1998 gmc jimmy. i'm running a hifonics hifi1500.1 amp. I've seen people with the same subs, same brand amp(but smaller) in very similar vehicles do much better hair tricks than i can achieve. Any suggestions on how to increase mine? I love to show off my subs and this is a fun way to do so!

Ive been doing some research on some 8' subs with about a $200 budget and was hoping for some suggestions. I've mainly had my eye on the new alpine's since I can get them about $90 a pop. If anybody knows someone that is selling some 8's for sale in a fair price range, or if the sundown SA-8 by itself could topple most 8 inch couples then that input would be handy as well. Secondly, I hear its quite difficult to make a screamin ported box for this size of sub and was hoping for some direction here as well. When I look at youtube videos I see ports that are sometimes much bigger than the box they are in alone. =/ I've fooled around with WinISD pro alpha version, and pu…

  3. I have a 4 channel amplifier, that's 2ohm stable when bridged. It gives out 4x140 @ 4 ohm and 2 x 360W @ 4 ohm. I'm going to use his amplifier to run a front stage and a small subwoofer in the rear. Is it possible to use one 4 ohm DVC subwoofer and connect each coil to their own speaker terminal? Would the result be the same if I just bridged two of amplifier termials and wired the subwoofer to 8 ohm?

I have an old RE 12 that I had no Idea what the model number was and so forth so I emailed some pictures to the Fi-Recone email. They informed me that it is the SE series and RMS's around 600 watts. What Recone kit would be best for this subwoofer and would it be cheaper for me to purchase the recone and do it myself or just send it in to Fi? Your help is much appreciated, I know there is a probably a lack of information but that is about as much as I know about the subwoofer.

Hey SSA! My Uncle Brad sold his MA's last month and now he wants something wayy louder & lower (146db+). He has all the equipment he just needs subs & his enclosure is 6-7cuft after displacements tuned to 29hz! For the last 2 weeks we looked at subs online & came to either 2 15" SSA Xcons, Fi BL's (Hyper Pole & Flatwind Coil), or DC Level 4m2's. We never owned or heard these subs so if u guys have or heard any of them please helps us out here! Thanks! BTW:Subs will be firing in cabin & Amp is a Hifonics ZRX30001.D (CEA Rated!)

I don't have much room at all, so driver needs to be less than 3.5" depth. Looking for a dual 10" setup for sealed application. Was browsing what's available and came across: Pionneer TS-SW2501S4. (3" depth, 300RMS and 20-290Hz freq. range) Rockford Fosgate Punch P3SD410 (3.5", 300RMS and 45-250Hz freq. range) Now, judging by spec Pioneer would be the one to get, more shallow and more broad range, including <30Hz. These are manufacturer specs so you never know though. Don't want to spend anymore that $150 each, and something that plays a wide range including <30Hz, as flat response as possible. So far that Pioneer looks like a winner.

Anybody know anything about a sundown/T3 hybrid 12", dual 1 ohm? I'm lookin into them but haven't heard anything about them. Supposedly 2500 rms? Would they go good with a saz2500d and a 4.75 cube box tuned to 36hz?

  10. I recently picked up a 2006 Pontiac GTO and it has a weak factory stereo. It comes factory with a 6.75" sub in the rear deck, but it is just terrible. I want to replace it with a nice 8" woofer that is still free air capable. I am not looking for something that will be just as loud as possible, I want something that sounds clean, since this is still my daily driver and I just want it to sound good. Any recommendations would be great. Thanks

As stated i just got back my 2007 Fi Bl 12 from the kid i sold it to a couple of years ago. He said it was blown so i went and picked it up. Come to find out one of the tensile leads was broken at the connector and the coils both read perfect. Coil still looks great and suspension is still pretty stiff. My questions are: 1.) Can i lengthen the tensile lead with shielded 12 gauge speaker wire? 2.)What How much would a complete recone run (psi or fi)? 3.) Once i fix it how much could i sell it for?

Ok As the title states, I have a BL 15 that locked up on me. I thought the coil just burned but after taking it out and looking at the magnet it seems that the top plate and the first magnet in the stack are about 1/8" offset from the rest of the magnet stack. I pulled the cone and coil out and yep the pole and the bottom 2 magnets along with the bottom plate are moved over. Is there suposed to be some kind of epoxy between the magnets to keep them from moving or do they just get held there under screw pressure? I have never reconed a speaker but I would like to fix this one if possible. Can I just loosen the screws and relign the magnets then put the new cone assy in? Th…

  13. I have been accumulating equipment for a while. Originally I was going to be installing everything in my 96 Eldorado. Things change and now I'm finally making progress installing everything in my new ride. An 03 Lincoln town car. I've spent some time talking with BigJon here on the forum. He has large format teeters on his A pillars and Sundown neo 8's in his doors. I originally wanted 8's for the Cadillac, but they wouldn't work without modifying the door panels. So I bought Peerless Nomex 7" 830875 for my mids, and large format Scan-Speak Discovery D2608/9130 for my highs. Now I'm wondering if I should stick with the 7's or switch them out for 8's that I know will fit …

I plan on buying the DCON to put in the trunk of my sons car. It will be powered by an Alpine MRP-M500. I have the recommended specs for the ported box. My question is does any one have a top firing and top port box plan for this sub? I plan on cutting holes in the rear deck to allow sound from the trunk to enter the cabin area. Any other Jetta folks out there with any ideas on the best way to get sound into the cabin with the rear seats closed?

A buddy of mine still has the first system he bought a couple years ago consisting of 2 Kicker CVX 15s in a sealed box (the shop said they couldnt make a ported box with space they had, but I ran it on Torres an the box would have only had to be 2in taller to run a port which would put him at the top of his back seat.) He said he likes his 15s but he wants to be "louder" and hit the lows better. I told him I could build a ported box for his car, or we could upgrade subs for the new box. I have him looking at the XCON 18. He has a HIFONICS Brutus 2200. I figured at 1 ohm he would see 1700-1800 watts. Would 1 XCON 18 in 6 cube box at 34hz be as "loud" or "louder" than the 2…

I have two blown MA Audio MA83XE's (8 in. subs) and i completely took them apart finding out the the voice coil of course, was melted. I measured the diameter of the voice coil from gap to gap and its 1.5 inches, is it possible to make use of these old motors/basket? or are they completely done for? If anyone has good advice on what to do with them, your advice is much appreciated. Thanks

  18. I am a proud owner and representer off SSA line of subwoofers. I have owned the Icon and currently the Zcon, and have installed a pair of Dcons. All three sound great, the Icon being my favorite at the moment. The problem that I am encountering right now is the stress noise I am hearing on lower notes at higher volume. This first became apparent on the install of a local Dcon's. Where we began testing and preparing initial gain setting. His setup consisted of 2 12' Dcons on a single AP1500 in a sealed enclosure for his maxima. This "scratching" noise was only noticable in a subwoofer at higher volume on lower notes for only ONE subwoofer, while the other showed no signs o…

At low volume my subs really hit hard but it seems as if the higher the volume the less of that deep bass i can hear/feel. My head unit goes to volume 62. At 40 i can really hear the deep notes. Should i tune subs for the lower volume and just not turn it up passed that?

Im about to buy 4 new subs, I have the DD M3a which says it puts out 2200 watts at 1 ohm. If I got 4 dcons, do you think they could handle this power? Or should I jump up to the 500-7000 watt speaker range? I heard the dcons are very efficent at 300 watts, I would be doubling their power. Im thinking I could do this if I turn my amp down so Im not giving them the full 2200 watts? Opinions?

I'm torn between an HDC3 18 and a UFO 18. Will be in 8 cubes with 1500 watts. I like the lows and sound quality doesn't matter too much for me.

Alright, my car peaks at 55hz. I want to get a box made before the 7th. Just going to keep it simple. Port in the middle and lots of it. I'll be using the D6 12s still since recones are going to take a min. I'm going to keep the same configuration. Subs back port back. So...... What tuning to go with? 50ish or what? I'm at work so I can link specs for the diamonds. But if someone posts them, I'll be very happy. This will only be for burps and a temp box. If you want to throw a design in there, that's great too ;-) This is for a trunk car incase some of you didn't know lol.
