I have had a pair of IXL 12's sitting around since last summer. With the DBDrag coming up locally in a couple weeks I felt it was time to get my arse in gear. Heres the Basic design with the exception that I decided not to do a driver flush mount and therefore increased the width of the top port piece from 4.5" to 5. This box is 3.2cubes net. We did an impedance sweep and its exact tuning is 33hz. Two weeks ago I got my pieces cut and asembeled. Sorry I fogot to take pictures of the bare box. Nothing special though. But Heres the finished box......I previously had an eD 15 in a 2.5 cubes @ 27 hz box in my car and it did a 140.6db on 1200rms. After only a few hours pla…

Alright, right now I am in the market for a single 15 inch sub. I have a clean 500w to work with. I was considering three different subs. The Sundown E-15, the SKAR IVX 15, and the Obsidian OA-15. I am looking to get something under $180. So far I have somewhat disregarded the sundown for a couple reasons. One being the skar and obsidian like the lows a wee bit better, and, just out of personal preference, I kinda want the rubber surround (what I have now). I'm leaning more toward the Obsidian... probably because of its longer throw, and larger/stronger magnet. I don't want a DCON... just saying that now. So, for any of these subs, they will end up going in a ported box b…

    I have 2 PWX8 4 ohm and 2 FT1 4 ohm and a Hifonics BRX640.4 which is rated at 4 x 80 RMS @ 4 ohm or 4 x 160 RMS @ 2 ohm. Should I run each speaker to their own channel or should I run one tweeter and one speaker in parallel @ 2 ohm 160 watts?

Wanted to get some opinions out there.. Which would you guys go with, 2 12w6v2's sealed or 1 12 Magnum ported? Either application would be powered by a Sundown 1500d. Looking for SQ and have decent output.

I'm interested in getting a vey high resolution "Magnum" logo. I figured since they can no longer be called "Magnums" that perhaps a high resolution image might now be available without any conflict. After all my Claw Basket Mags are still Mags. On a side note, does anyone know how many Claw Basket Mags (12" of course) exist? ... How rare are these? The Hammer

  9. So I'm trying this whole active thing out with drivers I had laying around. I was actually pretty impressed how the random drivers sounded so I figured I could spend some money on stuff. But before I purchase, I keep seeing people saying that to make a certain driver sound good it needs a "notch filter" to smooth out the response. I researched and now I know exactly what it means, but I don't want to build one (mostly because I have no clue how to do that) so I was thinking...and I realized that they're using the notch filters for the same thing we use an EQ for in a car...right? I can smooth out the response pretty well (or I can pony up and buy equipment that can) elect…

I've had an Fi BL 15" powered by a Sundown sae-1200d in my 08' Scion tc for a few months now. Simply getting tired of having the bass drown out everything else. I know absolutely nothing about component sets or midbass speakers really, im finding this to be more difficult to learn about than subs.. I have never even heard any components or good speakers in person actually so I dont know how to tell whats good and what isnt. Bascialy my main goal is to have the vocals be heard clear and not be drowned out at all, especially when i upgrade to a btl 15" soon. Also i dont know much about tweeters I just dont want them to be so loud that it hurts my ears or anything lol. Spe…

  11. Hello, I am wondering if anyone would happen to know how big of a box and a great tuning frequency for a Incriminator Audio Judge 15" sub? T/S parameters would also be greatly appreciated. I just need to know the basics really, I can figure out the rest with BassBox Pro 6. So far I just been kinda guessing on what the box size should be. What I have gotten, was 5.5 Cubed tuned to 29Hz.

Im building a box for two kicker L7 15's [ 36"w x 20"d x 17"h ], to go in a 2005 monte carlo. not much trunk space. kicker says 3.5 cuft. with three 4" x 19.25 ports for each. I wonted to fire them to the rear with the the ports on the same face as the subs, but the 36" w wont allow for that. My problem is the port placment.. What would be the next best place for the ports? Thanks for the help.

I want to do the package deal for the xcon and the sundown 1500. This is a daily driver (300C) so I obviously want sound quality (which is why I assume the xcon is a good choice). Although my main focus is to hit the lows with some really strong output, because I listen to rap. I don't want to fold the seats down either, but there is a stock 8" in the back that I'm going to take out, which should help the sound in the cab. There is enough space in the trunk to build the optimal sealed or ported enclosure for the 12" and but only for the optimal sealed for the 15" So my questions are. - is this too much for the trunk, or too little (or the best option?) - should I run a …

I'm reconing my XCON. I was going to have The Speaker Exchange do the work, but after they told me $80 an hour for labor and it could take 2 hours I've decided to do it myself. Problem is I didn't order glue from SSA because I wasn't expecting to do the work. Does Lowe's or Home Depot sell a glue that would work? Thanks

First off I would like to thank Mark for allowing me to test these at no cost to me. Ok Here it goes. Initial Impression: When I got off of work and walked around to my front door I saw a box that vaguely resembled an extremely used soccer ball. It was brown and taped up and kind of rounded at the corners. I quickly tore into it and got a peek at these things. I can tell you these are built to the highest of quality. No glue on the surrounds, the surround fits perfectly in the sunken surround landing. The bead of glue on the spider was even all the way around. They just looked high quality. Not fancy high quality like a Ferrari, high quality like a cleanly built RX-7 (no…

Ive heard differnt things, one being that the BL is more for the daily beater and the BTL for the "competion sub" Which is better for a daily sub that will not compete in SPL contests and who wants to have LOUD music.

  19. Not breaking any new ground here, I know, but looking to get a bit more input before I do some spending. My ultimate goal is to have a great SQ substage. I was curious what the best route would be in terms of an enclosure. Sealed? Ported? Tuning? Size? Sub firing upwards? Port firing rear? SI Suggestions: Sealed 1 to 1.3 ft^3 Ported 2 ft^3 tuned to 32 Hz I'm sure I'll end up staying close to these, but which end of the 'spectrum' would yield the greatest sq potential of an SI Mag D2 12"? Other information that may or may not help: Car - 1999 Subaru Impreza Wagon (sub behind rear seat, ample enclosure space) Amp - USAmps DE1000 (1000wrms+ @1ohm) Deck - Pioneer Premier DEH-…

  23. I have always wonder this, exactly what is the difference between these different speaker configurations. I want to know the difference, well the reason behind the following. Two-Way speaker Three-Way speaker Four-Way speaker Would like to know the Purpose, Pros/Cons of said above. Also, would appreciate some shed of light comparing this/these to an active or passive setup. For example, I know some people decide to buy a woofer for midbass/midrange purposes and company it with a tweeter. Ok, that makes sense to me. So in essense, is that what a "Two-Way" speaker is trying to accomplish? Taking that idea, do I apply the same principle for Three-Way and Four way? Where as …
