Well I was out pricing enclosures today & dude told me around $300 for a fiberglass enclosure. Anyone know of a better deal or am I stuck paying as much for the box as I did for the sub...err, almost as much.

I had my old 4th order BP lying around in my basement so I decided to take it apart and modify a few things. I've made the sealed chamber smaller and I'm going to add more port area to the ported chamber. It will be a slot port facing up along the backglass, 5"x26." Sealed chamber is 1.5 cubes and ported is around 8. Tunage is 45 hz. And yes, it will wang The enclosure looks pretty rough because of wear and tear of taking it in and out of my Jeep but the inside of it is where I sanded down the fiberglass resin. I'll probably just sand the outside and use black spray paint on it. haha. Yeah, the cutouts are off center just a tad Hello big ported chamber All i…

So currently I have my six sa-10's wired up to a saz-3500d @ 1.33ohms and I'm hoping to get more out of this setup. I have a second saz-3500d coming tomorrow. I'm thinking I'll bridge the two amps after upgrading my electrical (acouple d3100's). I'm curious if you guys think this approach is sane or if you think the subs are going to smoke from the extra juice. I realize this is most likely one of those near impossible to answer questions that gets asked here all too often. Also, subs are turned to 32hz with 1.3cf each. Thanks.

Ok so I'm about to purchase 4 8" subs to go under the back seat of my silverado, I have been wondering if anyone has any experience with the RE audio RE8s, ReX8s, or the sundown audio e8s, as these three all have good enough mounting depths. Please tell me which you find to be the best. I am looking for the all around best sub out of the 3.

  5. So, from what I have read and come to understand, a larger ported box reduces the power required for a given driver to reach its mechanical limits. My question, then, is if you have the space to build a larger box, within the acceptable range for a given driver, and are not concerned with space or weight, would there be any reason to choose a smaller box? Given the same linear travel, would supplying more power to one woofer increase control and/or speed of the speaker vs the other? Or, since less power is being supplied and therefore stored in the coil, would delay due to inductance be reduced? Any other factors?

I have a 2014 Ford Explorer sport. 2 Fi team 18s, (2more added later) ported 6th order, 7cuft per sub tuned to 33Hz and will be using a crescendo BC encore 12k. My center ch I can fit a 6.5 pwx or 2 FT1 super tweets. Any recommendations for the doors? I got room for 2-3 8" mids per door (if I customize/deaden and seal the doors) and 2 FT1 tweets. Daily driver Currently 1 370a singer alt and a 200 stock alt with 1 xs D3100. (Will be replacing the stock alt with another 300 plus singer) Headunit = kenwood DDX9702s Thanks!

Hi ive been a lurker on this forum for awhile and yesterday decided to buy the MAW-15. I had a 12 Phoenix Gold RSd in 1.2 sealed and it didnt have enough output for my liking so i turned the bass boost up 1/4 and blew it, lol, noob mistake i know... The amp i had it running off of was the Alpine MRP-M850, gains set accordingly to 800rms. Well anyways im gonna try the MAW-15 and see what happens, i will put it in the recommended sealed enclosure of 2.2 i believe (Is that after displacement or before)? Now how much wattage can this thing take, ive heard it can do 700rms fine, some guy said he did 900 but i doubt it. Well i will have up to 800rms clean so power for it isnt a…

  10. Started by Loud n Clean,

I have a set of PPI 356CS components up front and they sound wonderful, but after tuning my amp with my DD-1 I found that the tweets just aren't capable of handling the power i'm giving them. I'm running them off a CDT Audio SQ4100 at 4 x 100....the comps are rated at 120rms per side so i'm not able to turn them up as loud as I should be able before the tweets just start screaming and sounding nasty so I want to upgrade the tweets with something that'll fit into the existing hole in my door panel (am willing to do a little mods to get it to fit if needed). So I'd like a tweet that can handle at least 90rms and isn't very deep, I only have about 1.5" clearance back there. …

Let me know what you think guys. I made these kicks about a month ago, which included about 5 layers of bondo due to pinholes after sanding :punch: but I think they turned out pretty good. Oh yeah, those are the 307's in the kicks.

I want to do the package deal for the xcon and the sundown 1500. This is a daily driver (300C) so I obviously want sound quality (which is why I assume the xcon is a good choice). Although my main focus is to hit the lows with some really strong output, because I listen to rap. I don't want to fold the seats down either, but there is a stock 8" in the back that I'm going to take out, which should help the sound in the cab. There is enough space in the trunk to build the optimal sealed or ported enclosure for the 12" and but only for the optimal sealed for the 15" So my questions are. - is this too much for the trunk, or too little (or the best option?) - should I run a …

Ive been looking to upgrade my system for a while to something louder and cleaner and have been looking mainly at JLs. I recently found W6W12s on sale on sonicelectronix for around $400. From what I read these are the subs I'm looking for but I still have a few questions. Right now I'm running a 15" Eclipse titanium in a ported box on a Hifonics Zeus 1200 watt amplifier in a 2001 Expedition. Would 2 W6s be louder than this? I'm looking for something that will really hit hard, like a lot harder than the eclipse. Will the amp I have work for two of these subs? Also would I be better off going for 1 W7? Lastly, would it be necessary to make improvements to the wiring setup I…

  19. Alright so I decided to go for the two Sundown E series 12" subwoofers rather than the SA series 15" subwoofer. I was told and thought the answer was reasonable, that two 12" E series will have better SQ and SPL than a single SA series 15" sub. I was wondering if anyone had them(The E series 12's), and would recommend a certain Ported enclosure size, I'm going to use Aero Ports... My max dimensions are 14h x 34w x 20d. I don't want to go any bigger, I'd enjoy a little wiggle room in my trunk. Height and Width are maxed, Depth can be extended quite a bit. I'm thinking of tuning my box to around 30-35Hz. Has anyone had these subs in a ported enclosure, can you give me fee…

  20. Not breaking any new ground here, I know, but looking to get a bit more input before I do some spending. My ultimate goal is to have a great SQ substage. I was curious what the best route would be in terms of an enclosure. Sealed? Ported? Tuning? Size? Sub firing upwards? Port firing rear? SI Suggestions: Sealed 1 to 1.3 ft^3 Ported 2 ft^3 tuned to 32 Hz I'm sure I'll end up staying close to these, but which end of the 'spectrum' would yield the greatest sq potential of an SI Mag D2 12"? Other information that may or may not help: Car - 1999 Subaru Impreza Wagon (sub behind rear seat, ample enclosure space) Amp - USAmps DE1000 (1000wrms+ @1ohm) Deck - Pioneer Premier DEH-…

Right now i am rocking out the mid-sized sealed. But, i was looking to upgrade to a ported. can someone give me some help with a design, max dementions: W-35" x H-19" x D-25" it would be mdf. i built my last one and it came out great. I can do most stuff with the material (perfer it to be simple, so i don't have to spend weeks after school on it) I want to keep a lot of sq, but bump up the spl, i know that i will loose some of the tightness, but this would just be a second box anyway, you know, just to have, and for a project. if you needed to know, i have a Viper 1200d. -Travis Anyone know where to get some good black box capetting?

  23. I bought a 10" powered under seat subwoofer from the sound storm https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CY13W2/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and used an LC2i to convert the speaker signal from the rear left speaker to RCA outputs. I do not have a subwoofer stock as i have the lower trim level which doesnt incude a factory sub. I finished the setup and can barely notice the subwoofer working. The sub turns on and does work, but is extremely weak/quiet, not even as powerful as the stock rear speakers. I have tried almost everything to try and get it to work and get more bass but nothing seems to work. If someone can give me some feedback or advice that would…

First off I would like to thank Mark for allowing me to test these at no cost to me. Ok Here it goes. Initial Impression: When I got off of work and walked around to my front door I saw a box that vaguely resembled an extremely used soccer ball. It was brown and taped up and kind of rounded at the corners. I quickly tore into it and got a peek at these things. I can tell you these are built to the highest of quality. No glue on the surrounds, the surround fits perfectly in the sunken surround landing. The bead of glue on the spider was even all the way around. They just looked high quality. Not fancy high quality like a Ferrari, high quality like a cleanly built RX-7 (no…
