I was wondering if a single Nightshade 18 would be at home in my trunk as my daily driver. I would really like to get loud n' low. I'm putting it on roughly 3kw. Any suggestions?? Anyone have experience with the subs in their trunks?

I'm leaning toward a Zcon 18. But , I have a few questions. First, would the z work in a fiberglass enclosure? I would like it to be an aesthetically pleasing enclosure as well as perform. Just want to make sure that beast won't destroy my box. Second, I listen to everything and was wondering if the z will keep up with all my music choices? Not really chasing numbers but, wouldn't mind doing well if I chose to enter a comp. It's going in a 91 dodge ramcharger. Will be powered by 2 planet audio ac5000.1d's ( 1600W rms each) strapped.

  6. Hello all, Brief run down 1999 Corvette with a custom box i made a few years ago Corvette box Well after 8 years of service my JL 10w3-4(dvc) (original ones) finally is giving out. I was doing some reading on a few forums and came accross the dcon as a great preformer for the money. However with my box im very limited on options. I need to know the width of the magnet, also if anyone has a picture of maybe the speaker with a measuring tape down so i can see where the basket protrudes. I have an ancient sony xplod amp 360rms @ 4ohms, not looking to build another box just want to drop in another sub and play. According to the instructions i followed on the build of t…

  8. Hi all, A friend of mine has just blown its XXX 18" for the second time ! He doesn't know why ! The first time, he knew he had a very small box with a slot port, and he did not know the tuning of the box. He was playinf at full tilt with no ssf on ! Amp is a MTX te 4000. He has several batteries, and the big 3 done, now. I ordered a recone kit for him from PAP. They sent a kit for a 15" sub, and then the right one. (So I have free kit at home, looking for a sub !). After a few weeks, he was really satisfied, but on the 21st this month (it was music day in France) he told me he blown it again. This time the wire that runs on the spider has gone into smoke. The sub is a DVC…

Is there a 1000w sub that is all around better then the Fi Bl in its price range? Post anything you may have had experience that you think would beat it in output and sound quality. This is just to see whats in my league or better.

  12. I have had my cut out cones sitting outside since last year, out in the rain snow and sun, and the only thing that has happened to them is the cones on a few have turned white. The paper cones are still solid, foam surrounds are all good, glue holding them turned white but not loose one bit. The coils havent rusted, the coil glue hasnt let loose... they are just the same as when I cut them off other than bleeched. I have been impressed every time I look at them, so the other day I was having fun and displayed them on my porch. It stormed hard last night so I went out into the dumping rain and snapped some pics. I think drivers have come a long way over the years, as ever…

I was wondering what people thought about subs facing upward in a sedan trunk. I'm planning on getting a 12" icon but I wouldn't mind having the 15". Problem is that I don't think the trunk in my 97 corolla would be tall enough having the sub standing up. It would be going in a sealed box. I feel like there would be more trunk rattle if I laid the sub down. I see videos where the sub is literally firing into the trunk from an inch away. Would lying the sub make it harder to hear in the front of the car? It seems like there would be a greater chance for cancellation or the sound waves would just get bunched up between the trunk and cone. Separate question but i've always b…

Like I said, I change my plans and I want to know if a 2.5cuft ported box tuned to 35hz is a good box for a single 12' dcon. Too big, or ok box? Tuned too high? I'm going to send it 400wrms.

I'm trying to make a descision between these 2 subs. I plan on running only 1, off of 1500 watts rms. I can make any electrical upgrades that are necessary. I drive a Dodge Ram 1500 Quad-Cab, so space is somewhat of an issue. I currently have a box with 2 12's taking up 2 of my back seats, and would like to try and free up some more space. I have heard that the Sundowns do well in smaller enclosures. My main goal is to hit lows, get loud, and sound smooth. I listen to rap/hip hop and Chopped and Screwed music. Any personal experience with either of these subs is appreciated.

Hey everybody! I was just is there a diferrence in power handling between a vented enclosure and a sealed enclosure. I just purchased a DC Audio Level 3 15 with the Level 4 coil option, dual 1 ohm. I'm running a Hifonics HFI 1500d @ 2 ohms 1000rms. I was going to use a 2.25^3 ft. enclosure in a Nissan Altima or could I get away with running that much power in a vented enclosure on the sub? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Ok so I *finally* got my Bravox order. The part shipped via UPS got here quick. The USPS part... not so much. I was getting worried cause they were 4 days past due but they showed up today. Besides, I'm not in a big hurry so no worries. Now for the really important part. I see the midrange and the tweeter are pre-mounted in their respective housings with the really nice aluminum trim rings, etc. But.... how do these babies come apart? Do they come apart? They have to come apart otherwise I am screwed. The plan is to mount the tweeters in the factory locations in the mirror trim pods and the midranges next to the midbass drivers in the door. This will NOT work if I can'…

wazzup folks i recieved my audioque hdc3 18 by ups friday and had a helluva time getting all 7 cubes tuned to 30hz made of birch in my ext cab sierra. As soon as i turned on my stereo it was on a country song on a Cd. i noticed it was as loud as my 1 12 but it has even moved 2 milimeters yet and thats when i giggled. so to play around i put on a test tone of 25hz and stepped out of my truck only to see my windows moving atleast half inch and my back glass flexing around 1.5 inches, as i was steppin back in my truck it made my hair stand up like a hair trick! the lows are so crisp and kick drums and kettle drums are tight and controlled, ive never had a sound quality d…

Hey all.Im wanting to get some new subs and im wondering which way to go.I know this has been asked thousands of time but im wondering should I get a Pair of 12" Xcons or a single 15" Zcon?I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant and the subs would go in my trunk.Im kinda wanting to go with the single 15" Zcon but I want to be as loud as I can get.The zcon would save me some cash but would it be as loud as the xcons?I have a planet audio bb2 2400watt RMS amp right now and I plan on getting a second and strapping them in the very near future. So with this in mind what would you guys recommend?Oh and how many cubic feet should a box for a single 15" zcon be?I seen what the xcon recom…

alright guys so iv decided i wont be getting a zcon because i just wont have the electrical for it. what i have is 1200 watts that my eletrical can handle at ease. Im going to sell my bl to fund my next build. Im thinking of instead of getting just 1 sub id like to get 2 12" subs that do around 1200 watts conbined so around 600 each. im trying to get the loudest i can off of 1200 watts pretty much. I was thinking of either 2 ssd, 2 sa12 or 2 w7 but would take alot of saving up lol. I absolutly loved how my 1 12w7 sounded the real deep rich lows with rumble. I see the icon doesnt come in a 12" but id consider it if it did since there about 600 watts each. Or if you guys ha…
