I am going to be ordering a 10" FI Q in the next couple of days. It will be going in a sealed box with .57 cu. ft. or airspace after displacement. I will probably be running it with an older Memphis 1000d I have laying around. I know I need to add the high QTS option to it, but should I add the cooling option as well? This may actually be a stupid question but does the cooling option add any length to the mounting depth? My box is only 7" deep so I dont have any room to play with being that the mounting depth for the Q is already 6.5". Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

I got rid of the last 3 i owned due to numerous issues i've had with them. My first car was a civic, and well, i've always wanted a blue SI. I found this one a couple states away fs for 6k. Tons of mods, decent mileage, and extremely good on gas, so i said why not? Pic from a meet a month before i took ownership It's pretty much perfect exterior wise. Just needs a rear lip and darker tint. Doing some measurements, i have about 5 1/2 cubes available for a sub box. Here are my options 3 12" xcons sealed. This would be the cheapest of the 3 since i already have 2 1 15" aa smd. Not sure how much one of these will cost me, I've heard from 800 to a 1k? 2 12" zcons What w…

whats up ssa, alright so i see the new zcon line is going into production soon . Right now im running a 12" bl on a aq2200 @ 2ohms. Im thinking of upgrading to something with a more ouput and more sound quality because the bl's just dont have that warm deep solid sound that im looking for. Also honestly it just doesnt get loud enough for me. So i see the new zcons and there looking pretty damn good and from what little iv read about them they are sounding like something iv been looking for for a while. So my question to you knowledgable people is do you think with that 2250 watts will it get louder then the 12" bl, i know its not a spl speaker and thats fine but its gotta…

hello to all. as some of u know, i was on here about 4 months ago looking for opinions on a sub. well i went with a 2011 kicker l7 15 in a 5cf ported box and i must say it was LOUDDDD. but then the SQ started getting to me. so i found a orion hcca 12.2 on my local craigslist for 375 or possible trades. i messaged him and long story short, we did a straight trade. my kicker zx1500.1 amp will not run at 1 ohm so im running the sub at 4ohms and the sub is laughing at the zx's 750watts at 4 ohms. so i need a amp thats stable at 1 ohms, atleast 1200watts (no more than 2000. stock electric here fellas) and no more than $375. fire away!!

I was bumping my SSD lastnight when it all of sudden stopped. Everything was sounding great and it just stopped. I looked at the connections to the box and everything was fine, then i pushed on the cone and it started working again. Still, it sounded just like it should (awesome lol) but then it stopped again. This morning i took it out of the box to check the connections to the sub and everything was as should be. When i would push the cone it would jump but stop working again. what the hell could this be?? also the tinsel leads, spiders, and everything else looks fine and in place.

Hey guys...thanks for joining me. As you can see, my name is An-i-no and I think I'm a subsono-holic.... LOL on a serious note I have 2 Sa-12's on a RF P500-2 (~350x2) in 1 cube sealed each. They sound effin awesome but they're well...quiet. I already made plans to get a bigger amp (between 1500 and 2000 depending on my monies) but I saw that Sundown was having a b-stock sale and I started thinkin... I want to go ported at 27hz. That's where my listening habits are. Slow ass rap songs that send shockwaves through your organs. My sealed box isn't having that, but duh, I knew that when I bought it. The sealed box does however...allow me to play super-extra low tones that a …

I have been running 1 12" Soundsplinter RLP for the past 6 years. I used to play around and try different set ups pretty frequently, but buying a house and having a child put a damper on some of that stuff. Driving a Mazda 3 right now and I am looking to get the best and cleanest output(on a budget of course), so I am looking at either building a new box for my RLP and having it fire into the cab with the backseat down, or get 2 DCON 10s and building a box to fire into the cab the same way. I listen to all kinds of music and I am limited at what I can put in the car because of the size of the trunk. I have about 700-800 watts rms, which is why I was looking at the DCO…

I want the Sundown Audio SA-15. Two of them. And a SAZ-2500D. One of it. Will I overpower the subs? I know, i know, the specs say 600rms but I want to hear some experienced people tell me how hard they bang and if they can handle more. Just looking for some nice project ideas.

So what do you guys think of this desision.

Ok, so I have power limitations. So could I be able to get good sound from any subs in this site with that power or I just wasting my time and money? I'm better buying Kicker, MTX, Cerwin Vega or something like that?

Today I put in some pioneer a series 6.5" in the back of my car. Tomorrow i'm planning on ordering the 4" models for the front. I'm running them of the 18w head unit. I have a sub already and was wondering if it would be worth it to buy something like 150hz bass blockers for the front speakers. I didn't know much about car audio when I went and bought my head unit and it doesn't have a high pass filter.

I'm thinking about doing a sealed setup under the back seats of my truck for days that I need my back seat. Do SA-8s like sealed boxes? I have an AQ2200D, so if I'm not mistaken, I can run a 2 ohm setup at around 550 watts per sub. Goals for this system: Sound excellent. Not looking to break windows with this system, I just want it to sound great and get pretty loud. I have my 18 for getting loud. I would just like to have some bass for the periods of time I need my back seat. SA-8s might not be my best option. I could do a pair of 10s or maybe even 12s. I don't want to spend any more than $400 for both subs and box materials. Any suggestions for what would work for me?

ok so right now iv got a 12" fi bl in a 2.5 cuft box tuned to 33hz. so my next move is to either get one more bl and wire my aq2200 to 1ohm or sell me bl and get a 15" btl. My question is would the btl be a significantly amount louder? is it a huge step up from the 12" bl or would i just be better off getting another bl. im going to be getting a 180a hp dc alt with big 3 done and a kinetik hc1400 under the hood. i will have the electrical for 2200 watts but what would be the smarter option mostly going for a lil louder, i love 1 sub setups and it would be easier to get 1 btl and a single box then another bl and buy a dual 12" box. Thanks in advance Bassheads

I'm still trying to decide what I want to do for my summer build. I want to try a multiple sub setup (3 or 4) just because I've never had more than two subs before. Anyway, I found this simple calculator: http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=26 When I put in the parameters for the subs I'm looking at, I use the suggested Qtc of 0.707. With every sub I've tried, this gives me an enclosure volume a little larger than I'd like to use. I noticed in the "note" that you can use a Qtc of 0.9-1.2. When doing this, it brings the enclosure size down significantly. My question is, what are the drawbacks and advantages of not using the suggested Qtc of 0.707?

So I hate to ask this sort of question as I realize that the sound of a subwoofer is so dependent on the install, but as the few audio shops around here sell a majority of RF, Alpine, and JL products, I have no way to judge what I am getting into. So here I go.... I currently have two alpine type-s 10 inch subs running off about 500 watts in a very poorly tuned Best Buy box... The cleanest system I've yet to hear is two 10 in memphis subs in sealed boxes, the loudest system I have yet to here is two RF punch 12's in one of their custom, fancy looking ported boxes running off of maybe 700ish watts. The sub I am looking into is a SKAR VVX 12 in a box tuned to 31ish hertz, r…

Hi guys, I'm from Puerto Rico so my english is not that good, but I want to try to communicate with all of you. I know this questions is ask sooo many times. But I want to know your opinion on this. My car is a 1994 Corolla, the amp is a Soundtream Rubicon 400.1 mono, and the sub would be in a .75 birch ported box, about 2.89cuft including port area and tune to about 38hz and I listen to a lot of hip-hop, electronica, and rock(not at high volumes). The 15" subs I been looking are: Mmats P2.0, IA 187, Treo Tsx and Mtx TR75. All of them dvc 4ohms. I want the best ""SQL"" possible because I know that with just 400rms I'm not going to reach high SPL. I want …

I am asking this for a co worker of mine wanting to get a single 12 Skar Audio VVW12. It is rated at 600RMS and I know it can take more power easily. Now my question is that he has a all JL setup and has 2 12 W0's in a JL ported box. That box is huge and doesn't sound to good to me. I would like to replace it with a single Skar and run it off his JL J2 500.1 amp. It is rated at 500RMS @2ohms. Will this be enough power to use with the Skar? He is doing this because in his 2006 4DR Civic the other box is taking up all his space, I am thinking being custom built box the single sub will be less space and sound alot better. I am running a single Skar off 800-900rms and is mor…

I don't think I will be buying a new sub anytime in the relatively near future but I do want to upgrade eventually. I currently have a 10" type r and I love it but I wouldn't mind something a little louder. I care more about quality than loudness. The problem with my type r is that it can be hard hearing really low notes. I drive a 97 corolla at the moment. I was looking at the fi q but i'm not sure if my electrical system would be able to handle the 1000w rms. Maybe with a capacitor? I don't want anything that will take up all the space in the trunk so i'd like to stick with 1 sub. A 12" sub to go in sealed box is what I should be looking for right? I know a lot of you o…

Looked around and got a bunch of mixed answers but I'll regurgitate what I have. 1. It fools the speaker into thinking the box is bigger than it is. 2. It makes the interior of the enclosure hotter. 3. When used in ported boxes it slightly lowers tuning. On to my questions/possible misconceptions. 1. Does that mean the speaker is louder?...Or does it play lower or what? I'm confuzzled. 2. Does that lower the thermal power handling of the speaker by hindering it's cooling capabilities? 3. My box is sealed sooooo...nvm And before anyone tells me not to mess around with it, my box is sealed and too small (I forgot to account for sub displacement) and plus I'm running about h…

space problem in my trunk i can create a box with external dimensions: 28x16x40 inches. It means 9.8cuft. I have 0.8' wall thickness and remain 8cf Vb for speaker. In this case i have 5.5-6cuft for speaker and 1.5-2cuft for port. I know for one 18' sub i need 7cuft , but my question is: I can create a box with 5.5-6cuft ? I can tuning it at 30Hz and works properly ? (If not i buy 15' and i create optimal box) thanks

I have 400$ (budget for buy a subwoofer) ive been looking/shopping for a nice big ""SQL"" subwoofer who can sing music at low frecv. I`m interested to hit low (28-30Hz). I listen rap - dub step music, my car is 4 door hatchback. HU is alpine 9831, amplifier will be HFi2000D. I have a second batteries and 0awg cable. Someone recommended me: TC Sounds LMS-R 15 SSA XCON 15 or 18 FI BTL I have not heard any version. I`m from europe and i want to buy it from USA. I also want your recommendations to buy best solution. if your current set up was giving you around 600 watts per sub into a sub with 1000 watts rms handling, but for $550 you could upgrade to a different amp that would put around 844 watts into that same sub would you spend the extra cash to do it? i mean can one even tell the difference by listening to a sub with either power going to them? not sure if it matters but the system consist of 3 18's..im looking for opinions to see if its worth me spending the $550 and only adding about 200 watts per sub if even that..
