I currently have 2 kicker cvx 12" subs in a crappy prefab box and I'm looking to get louder and lower (move a lot more air). I cannot decide between getting a custom box for my subs tuned to the low 30s, or getting 2 type r 15's, or one nightshade 15. which would give me the best results? the type r subs would have to be in a prefab box

if your current set up was giving you around 600 watts per sub into a sub with 1000 watts rms handling, but for $550 you could upgrade to a different amp that would put around 844 watts into that same sub would you spend the extra cash to do it? i mean can one even tell the difference by listening to a sub with either power going to them? not sure if it matters but the system consist of 3 18's..im looking for opinions to see if its worth me spending the $550 and only adding about 200 watts per sub if even that..

So i got a new clutch/flywheel put in my car. My mechanic put my old parts in my trunk which i forgot about. My sub doesn't have a grill and that box full of parts broke the 10" ssa dcon rubber surround and even the cone. I tried using silicone, but the sub sounds like crap! Can i get a new cone and rubber or should i start looking for a new 10"?

Hi everyone. First time post here. Long story short, I was really into CA back in the day. Got out of it for about a decade and now I'm back into it. So, I'm thinking of purchasing a set of the Bravox CS603CF to run as front stage and a pair of the CX60CF to run in the back doors of my Mazda 6 wagon. I plan to run them passive with the midbass of the 603 set in the stock location, the tweeter in the stock a-pillar location. If possible, I plan to make some type of bridge to mount the midrange over - or possibly next to - the midbass depending on how much room I have. If none of that works then I guess I will just have to drill a hole in my door panel, but I'm hoping to a…

I've been researching subs for months and here I'm hoping to reach people that actually have hands on experience with the following woofers as I do not. I'm wanting to add good clean bass with authority to my current system. I'm not a bass head since I mostly listen to rock and metal but occasionally I do like to bump and want some chest thump on tap whenever I feel the need. I have an '02 Dodge Ram QC which limits my space. I have access to use either a 1.55 cu ft. per chamber sealed or ported sub box for this application. Amp I plan to choose: AQ 1200.1 Current system: Pioneer deh-p710bt Soundstream TWS.3 Polk MM 691 Polk db 521 Polk pa-660 Subs I'm choosing from (all …

so i bought a re se 10 about a year ago. i bought it from dealer cost audio or whatever. either way ive heard of problems from this site after i ordered. so i installed it friday for the first time. everything was hooked up correctly. triple checked before making it final. i turned on my hu, turned up the volume to just get the sub moving. after about an hour i turned it up a little more, went to the cargo area to check and i noticed this little paper ruslting sound. after a few more hours i turned the volume up more and the sound was more prominent. now its just annoying. i cant really hear it from the front. but its noticable from the back. as volume goes up it gets wor…

im looking to upgrade from my previous setup which consisted of 2 AQ sdc2.5 15's and an AQ1200D, basically i want to get louder, but i have the same limited space i had before. the dimensions i have to work with are 47" wide, 15" deep, and 35" high. i will be using an AQ2200D to power this system. i mainly listen to decaf music or other rap/hiphop 90% of the time, other 10% is rock/metal. so a sub that likes to be tuned low is what im going after. my budget is 500-600 bucks tops. im just having a hard time making a decision because i want to make sure this setup will get louder... i dunno if i want 2 15's that can take more power, or a single 18, or a IA DP 21, or 4 12's.…

so, my first set of aftermarket speakers were a set of carbon fiber Bravox comps. i blew both tweeters and one woofer. (had them bridged on my boss-rev665 so double rms. and not tuned. also had bass boost on. and gain was over 3/4. lol. (obviously before i knew anything) Lear From Your Mistakes! so i decided to have some fun. took it pretty well for i few seconds. Gain AND Bass boost were AL THE WAY UP! enjoy. (click photo)

Hi I am trying to get more output from my coworker's car. He currently has a 04 F150 SuperCrew and is running 1 10" Cadence Mallet II 2ohms / Cadence Z1000 amp / Pioneer p4200ub. It currently sound nice but not enough bass at all. I am thinking about porting the box but don't where to start and what I should have it tuned to. Would this be a good idea to do? I currently have (2) RE SE 10's and have my 2.7cu box ported at 33hz and he likes the way it sounds with the low bass rolling. I don't know with his smaller box and the Cadence sub can do... Here are some specs on the box in his setup. Subwoofer fires down Box fits on driver's side under rear seat 5/8 inch MDF Air…

So I was wanting to get my first sub set up in my car and have been doing some research and was hoping to get some information from you guys. I have an 02 Nissan Altima with a pioneer deh 4200ub headunit and pioneer 6x9's and alpine type S's up front. I was originally asking about getting comps in my rear deck but Ive decided I would really like a nice sub stage instead. Amp wise I think Ive decided on something from Sundown Audio. I contacted someone from Sundown and was asking about a refurb model because I am on a budget and the savings would help, my budget is around 500-600 for the amp and sub. DB-r is their refurbisher from what ive read and currently they dont ha…

Hello everyone! I hope my question isn't a stupid one lol. I know a things or 2 about car audio but aren't an expert or a box builder. I currently have 2 SSA dcon 12s in 1.75 cubes each tuned to 33hz powered by a Rockford Fosgate T500-1bdCP. A local shop built the box according to the box recommendations on SSA's site and it sounds pretty good and gets loud for just 500 watts. I can tell from how it sounds like the box was properly built. What I'm wondering is if a pair of SA-12s would be able to use the same box. The recommended specs for the SA-12s is 1.75 cubes per sub. If they could I'd like to get either a Sundown SAZ-1500D V.2 or save money and get an Audioq…

So I've always noticed the impeadence/graph phases on most (good) subwoofer companies manuals, but I've never understood necessarily how they worked. Of course I know what impeadence and phase meant, but not too sure how it works on this graph (the frequency on the X axis, resistance on Y). To my understanding, it has to do with backpressure in the intended enclosure, so at the certain frequency where the resistance peaks that is where the backpressure in the enclosure its meant for peaks? And as for phase I guess thats just saying that 1 line is at 0 degrees and the other is at 180? But thats my guess whether its right or wrong the factor of backpressure? I've been getti…
