Subwoofers / Speakers

My sub will be bumping bass for parts of the song then it will cut out and nothing will be coming out of the bass. I have 2 subs, ones a 12 and the other is a 10 kicker compR. I have a 900watt pioneer amp connected to the them both, the bass will cut in and out, what’s the problem?? I’m clueless with subs

Hi everyone, i started to describe my plans in the noob section but i figured i would bring it over here so it would get some more attention and i could begin ordering some parts. The car is an '07 G35 coupe, and i am looking for a system that can get reasonably loud, sound good soing it, and add the least amount of weight as i don't wanna kill the weight distribution on the car. I was originally looking at the FI Q's but i decided that i wanna go with the Icons instead. There were a few different plans i had as far as enclosures, but i think that having them in a conventional style mdf box close to the rear seat would be best since there would be less weight hanging past…

Need Amp recommendations for 12." i have to be energy conserved because i drive an S2000 and it doesnt produce Much power from the little engine. So can i get The best amp that i could use for this sub and car without draining the battery. Thanks

i am building a setup for listening only, no competitions or anything, running (2) sa-8 dvc 4's, i was originally thinking of a sundown 1000d, which i felt was enough, but everyone i see with sa-8's is running either a 1200d or 1500d, is it safe to run these larger amps for daily abuse on the subs or is the 1000d going to be enough, thanks for your advice

Redoing port soon and need advice. Sub is a Fi Q18, 6 spoke basket, SPL audio recone, on under 1k. Port is 12" plastic pipe. I want it tuned at 29 and I can get there 2 ways. 1. 34" of pipe internal and 2" external giving me 8.08 cubes. And 2. 28" internal and 6" ext. giving me 8.48. How much would the extra .5 cube affect the sub. (Fi recommends up to 10 cubes for 1 Q18)

So I just recently put in some new passive comps in my car powered by about 70 watts rms and they just arnt cutting it anymore right now i have an Alpine cda9886 and infinity kappa conponents and an mtx 2 channel. I want to go active the deck would probably be changed to the alpine cda 9887 and i would need a 4 channel amp (suggestions are very welcome) or a 5 channel(under 200 for the 4 channel or 400 for the 5 channel). I was looking at the mach5 Mli-65's in the door but i dont have any idea what tweeters to go with i dont like very harsh tweeters, and any other suggestions you guys would have would be so helpful. …

Hey guys i am looking for a single 15" setup, the amp i have to power either sub would be a mtx thunder elite 801d it puts out 851x1 rms at 2 ohms, i listen to about 70% rap and 30% rock i am mostly interested in getting loud i know that that is totally install dependant, so either sub would be ported at around 32-33 hz and in about a 3.5-4.0 cu ft enclosure. Ok life's been hectic. Accepted a job offer starting out almost five bucks more an hr than I make now.. after 3 years. The audio has been on hold. Looking for a tahoe or gmc yukon. Just want opinions. Either going to order my second dc level 6 18.. or just order a pair of ssa evil 18s. For the price of one sub is close to just ordering the evils. And I know y'all are biased. But that's ok. I the level 6 is a skull cracker.. But not very musical. I don't want something just for burps lol

Had one sitting for 4 years thought the motor shifted finally took it apart. The coil had hard bottomed a couple of times and put a lip on it. I have a question.. Just brought a AU-SPL 12 dvc 4 ohm.. I see is that only connection to 2 ohm amp.. Is there a way i can connect to 1 ohm amp from dvc 4 ohm single sub?

Ive read quite a few different posts on the net and there seems to be an argument with what the correct port area for one of these subs is. Im trying to come up with a new box and im unsure on what kind of port area i need. Ive seen on the smd forums someone said the minimum should be 52 sqin of port, then ive seen the number 38 sqin on other, and also had someone say they contacted sundown and it should be 20 sqin?? This is the only thing keeping me from starting on a new box. Can someone please help me out with this? If it helps, box will be around 2cubes at 30hz ran with a hifonics brz2100. well after a 3 year hiatus of not having a SI Mag i'm back. i had an original claw basket 12. i just acquired a 15" new gen Mag and its going in a roadmaster wagon (huge space). and will power it with the mono side of a memphis big belle (1100w RMS) *****EDIT***** i wanted some expert opinion on the box plans i came up with....4.0 ft^3 @ 30hz total internal vol - 5.66 ft^3 (46.5"w x 12"h x 17.53"d) port area - 54 in^2 (18" x 3") port length - 37.31 in driver vol - .2 ft^3 .....what i don't know how to do is figure the port wall lengths. the sub will be firing up with the port up too. any help or advice is greatly appreciated. i'm stoked to be back with SI.

Hey all, I just put two DD 1508's ported in the back of my extended cab f150, and to be honest they sound like poo. They do get loud, but notes just run together, no definition. That being said I'm thinking about offloading them and trying two maw15's sealed. I'm curious if these are more of a SQ driver, for the price they are hard to say no to.
