Redoing port soon and need advice. Sub is a Fi Q18, 6 spoke basket, SPL audio recone, on under 1k. Port is 12" plastic pipe. I want it tuned at 29 and I can get there 2 ways. 1. 34" of pipe internal and 2" external giving me 8.08 cubes. And 2. 28" internal and 6" ext. giving me 8.48. How much would the extra .5 cube affect the sub. (Fi recommends up to 10 cubes for 1 Q18)

hi all! im a college student that is sick of not being able to purchase high end audio equipment but loves music. So i did a little research and stumbled upon the mj18. I've decided to do my first DIY sealed subwoofer using a single mj18 and buttkicker amp. I do know that they recommend 2.8 cu ft for a sealed mj18, but It looks as if alot of people are using larger boxes. Since im new to this, im uncertain as to why many of you have deviated from the "recommended" size. I would greatly appreciate if you guys could give me some tips, recommndations, and possibly some box dimensions on building my first sub without using a eq. I will most likely be using 3/4 mdf or plywood.…

Well, I received my MJ-18 last week and I am excited. I will be using the same size enclosure that Mark used on his Sonotube sub which is 8.8 cu ft. I've used lots of mdf in the past so the main enclosure will be made out of 13ply oak plywood with mdf bracing. I'm hoping to get started this weekend on the enclosure. By the way, how do I post pics? I don't see an attachment manager.

Well its official! I just bought 4 Eminence Alpha 12s and 8 Selenium Bullet tweeters. Will be reusing the 8 Alpha 6s I have also. Was going to do 8 6s, 8 8s, 4 12s, and 8 tweets, but its just too much money. Instead of all 100.2s, Ill be running a 100.4 on the 8 6s, a 100.4 bridged on the 4 12s, and a 100.2 on the 8 Bullets. Each Alpha 6 will be seeing about 50-60rms. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...tNumber=290-400 Each Alpha 12 will be seeing 160-170rms. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...tNumber=290-405 Each Bullet Tweeter will see 50-60rms. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...4-362&DID=7 Flame, drool, do what you will. Hey guys i am looking for a single 15" setup, the amp i have to power either sub would be a mtx thunder elite 801d it puts out 851x1 rms at 2 ohms, i listen to about 70% rap and 30% rock i am mostly interested in getting loud i know that that is totally install dependant, so either sub would be ported at around 32-33 hz and in about a 3.5-4.0 cu ft enclosure. Either these two woofers or any others under $300 any information would be very helpful. Thanks, Brian

Ok a lil background, puttin together a system for my rsx and so far I've got 2 18" Xcons (putting them in separate sealed boxes because both won't fit in the car without folding the seats down) with either a crescendo 3500 our a used saz 3500. For the front I've got polk audio mm 6.5" components and for the back seats mm 5 and a quarter coax. For electrical I've got a mechman 270 alt and two xs batteries. My question is whether I should get a set of morel maximo 6's and a set of morel 5c's. I've seen a lot of people say good things about the morel's I'm just wondering if it would be worth it since I already have the polks. I would try both to see which ones I like and se…

  10. Hello all, A few years back my subwoofer and head unit was stolen so I've been out of the bass game for some time. Luckily, my amps were left behind as they were in the false floor in my Xterra. Am looking to get a new head unit and subwoofer/box. I currently am using an Alpine MRD M1005 amp and want to wire at 2ohms to deliver 1k watts rms. I am looking for something that slams hard and clean, and I listen mostly to hip hop/rap/rock/alt rock type of music. I am also open to building a ported or sealed box - although I may prefer sealed for ease of construction and to save space in my Xterra. If I go ported - I am not sure which direction to fire the sub as I've…

Well I have a SI 12" sub thats been in my room all winter waiting to be installed. Well then early spring I decided to change almost my entire system. I now have a Arc Audio 2500XXK to run my sub. This is one sick powerful amp at 1 Ohm which I plan to run that way for 1050+ watts. Anyway, I entertained the idea of putting 2 12" subs in my car, but then realized due to space problems in my trunk, that would not be a good idea. So now I am wondering with that amp, should I go with a single 15" instead? I assume the box would be a little bigger, then the box for the 12" but not nearly as big as what two 12" would take up!

I have some peerless sls 10's I wanted to use for midbass in my next three way set up. But there is no way they are going into the doors of my car like I wanted. If I had power windows it would be no problem because the shaft for the window handle would not be in my way. So, instead I came up with an Idea to do some large kick pods that open up into a shallow false floor up front. Which brings us to my question????? Has anyone else heard of and or done something this drastic to get the proper air space for their speakers up front??? If so...Is it even worth it?? Thanks in advanced

  17. Alright so I'll give you guys some backround information. I have a 2008 Honda Fit Sport. 180 amp singer alt and xs d5100r under the hood, and 2 xs xp3000's in the hatch. 2 soundqubed 2200s strapped @ 2 ohms (each seeing 1 ohm) pushing 2 hdc315's in a 10 ish cu ft box tuned to 32hz. I don't k now how much port area there is, but it's a lot. These things get low. Sometimes I wish I tuned a little higher, but that's a whole other topic. I haven't played many test tones but on music I've been metered at 153.8 and as high as 149.9 @ 29hz. My mids and high keep up with the bass, but they're missing that "wow" factor. People that don't know anything about car audio will be blown…

I am running a Pioneer DEH P7200hd and two Diamond Audio D1 6.5 components in my 2002 GMC Sierra. I want to run two 10"subs in a fitted down firing box under the rear seat(extended cab). I'm planning on using a Sundown SAZ1000D at 2ohms. The box I would like to use is only .77cu ft., which subs do you think would perform better in that limited airspace; 2 Incriminater Audio 10" 187series or 2 SSA 10"DCON or 2 Resonant Engineering 10" SRx or 2 Diamond Audio 10"D1 ????? Please help, thank you. p.s. any other suggestions would also be helpful, but I'd like to stay away from mainstream brands if possible

  25. Hello! I have a 2000 Camaro with a thunderform 10" sub box (http://thunderforms...._2002/show.html). I was about to get some crappy pioneers but then I came across SSA and am considering the DCON, Skar VVX, maybe a GCON, or something one of you might recommend. My concern is that because the box is so limited (.6 ft3 sealed) if these subs will still sound any good, because I understand that they are engineered to be tuned and be in the right box. I'd be getting a new amp to btw, i'm thinking the Audiopipe APSM-1500. Let me know if you recommend a sub or if you think one of these wouldn't be a good choice for me. Any feedback would really help!
