I will have to make some door panels since the Crescendo 8's wont fit in the stock locations without the factory door panels blocking half the speaker. So I think panels are the best choice here. I will probably do them in 3/4 MDF and flush mount them and cover in black vinyl to match truck and box. I was going to do 6's also in doors but dont have room unless I really get into the storage areas of the stock panels which I dont really want to do. Should I do the FT1's flush mounted in door panels too or try my hand at fiber glassing some pillar pods in each corner. Will they be loud enough in doors? I hate to make a even bigger blind spot in the corner in the pillar, whic…

Just wondering what you guys think of the Hertz HSK 165.4 ( this is the 165.3 version though). I found a place here that I could get these for 350$. Are they worth it for a daily driver street beater / comp car? I know they are more for sq than spl (i am trying to pair them with a single 18" Fi BTL). I like to listen to more than just rap and bass cds so i think these should do well with the BTL (which is a monster). I have also noticed that the hertz website says these are only two way speakers but the magazine I have says the HSK 165.4's are 3 way...don't know, kind of confused. If you guys wouldn't pair these speakers up with the BTL, what would you for front end? some…

I'm wanting to know what would be the best interior speakers to swap out with my current stock ones. I have 3 different sets in my Lesabre. Dash is 4x6. Front door speaker size is 5 1/4 and the rear deck has 6x9s in it. What would anyone recommend me running? This way I don't have to do any cutting anywhere just yet. And also what kind of amp would be recommended to run these speakers off of? Appreciate everyones input and comments.

So what should i do first get 2 good front speakers and an amp to power them. or go with the subwoofer and amp, then later if i dont like how it sounds upgrade the front component speakers?

List, from 1 to 5, the top five component sets (of any size) that in your opinion, sound the best. If they were a custom set, list the raw drivers and tweeters. - Steve

Working on redoing my previous setup to adjust it for my new car. My previous car was a mustang and i had the setup in the trunk on about 1400w at 1ohm. Sub is a 12" ICON in a sealed enclosure. For the new car, its a hatchback so it should be louder anyways. The alternator/battery isn't as strong as the mustang's was and its not really something i'm looking to upgrade right now. On the mustang I was running a cap which helped with the dimming (yea yea.. i know about caps, but it worked out for that setup). On this car, i'd like to do away with the cap. The thought is to run the amp (audioque 1200d) at 4ohm instead of 1ohm. It would drop the power down to 510w (…

Wired my sub + to + - to - and took 1 + and 1 - out to the amp. Dual 2 ohm icon is the sub. I know I hooked it up like that on the speaker but completely forgot which wire was negative and positive lol. Rather not pull the sub at this point. 1. What is another method of figuring out what is what and 2. What kind of damage if any can come from this? At the amp I'm reading exactly 1.0 no matter how I hook the probes up to it

Im running a Sound Stream Rubicon 1600d amp and I very recently (7hrs ago) ordered a single 15" Icon to run in a ported midgate Avalanche enclosure that I will soon be having built. Im second guessing myself because I now feel like the single Icon wont provide enough SPL. Im thinking about canceling for 2 Gcon 12s. Ive never personally heard either sub besides from watching youtube vid and forum customer reviews. I'm a 60/40 sq/spl but from time to time I like get my breath taken away. Im not sure what 15 icons hit on meters or double gcon setups but if it means anything the loudest set up I've ever owned hit 140.6 with 2 Pioneer Premier SPL 12s on a Directed 1100d in a p…

Hey guys, so I just got me a sundown zv5 15 and built a box for it. I was tight on space so i went with an aero ported box, its roughly in the 4.5 ft3 area after displacement and what not. I'm using a 8" sonotube tuned to 32hz. I figure the 8 would work well because it's slightly less port area than what is needed for a slot port. And I've read aero port don't need to be as much as a slot port. Anywho, the sub kills the lows! It's moving a lot of air. But on the higher frequency is just lacks. For example , young jeezy- put on, that first note out of that 4 notes really sucks. lol it's real quiet compared to the other 3 notes that follow it. I tried another p…

Natural fiber cone ftw. pretty plain looking butt. i'm still keeping my RL-p 15. more than likely the RLp will see home theater duties. box build will soon follow.

Help be decide which sub's is better for my project. I want to do a blow through in a 2006 ford f-150 super crew. This past weekend I heard two addictive audio aa15v3 in a ford ranger, it sounded really good. But, I have never heard a Fi BTL. What do you guys think? What is a better sub? Has anyone heard both sub's? The only think that draws my attention of the addicive audio is that it has a warranty for three years, and I don't know if Fi has any warranty or not.

hello there, while searching for some components I came across these QSC-164 - MB Quart. I am looking for a set of components that will match up to 2 BM's subs. what I really want is clarity and I know MB Q has been around for a while so I figured I cant go wrong with them. My other choices would be the JL ZR650-CSi and Hertz ML165 but these come with out tweeters. I need a total of two sets for my truck, so if you guys can advice on these speakers or recommend others I will appreciate it thanks..

While we were testing the new Mag we decided to play around with some old BM 10's. We put eight 10's in an SPL car that had no alternator, 5 batteries, and a single SAZ 3000D. The first burp was in the 154's but we ended up getting it up to a 157.2 without too much trouble. Keep in mind the batteries had no charger on them for most of the test and when a carger was on them it was a little portable (about 12" by 9") charger. Oh yeah, this was all done on a Term Lab meter.

What's going on guys. I've been putting together some ideas and funds for my next project. The car is a 99' Honda Civic Ex coupe. So far I've picked up a Kicker kx2500.1 for my subs. My next question may come off as a FAQ, but this is a more specific question towards my application. Right now it's a toss up for me between 2 12" Fi Q's or a single 15" BTL. Either system will be sealed off from the trunk in around 4 cu. ft tops. I'll play a variety of music on this system, mostly rap, but it will be shown off FREQUENTLY... I'm just looking to get as loud/low to the ear as possible on a daily basis. I am open to other ideas as well, I'm just favoring these 2 in particular du…

Thank you for reading my post. I am a 20 year veteran of car audio system building, though my involvement has drastically decreased since becoming a Dad. It's time to install a system in my 2012 Scion xB. I have a Rockford Fosgate T1001-bdcp amp that does ~750 watts @4 ohms or ~1100 @ 2/1 ohms. Most importantly, I am an old school basshead who still listens to real bass music from the early 90s (Techmaster P.E.B., DJ Magic Mike, Bass Patrol, etc.). My bass CD collection is a source of pride for me. Anyway....I am looking for a single 12" or 15" woofer that will give me the 20-25 Hz notes that I crave. My maximum external dimensions are something like 22" wide, 17" …

So I just finished up my box today, upon installing the subs in the box I slipped with the drill and punctured the surround. It's a decent sized slit, maybe 3/4 to an inch; it runs diagonal. The subs are Fi SSDs with foam surrounds. I've been searching google for a bit now for the best advesive to use and keep seeing amazing goop and rtv silicone being suggested. Which is better? Would some type of epoxy work? And should I put a piece of fabric or duct tape on the back the slit, with whichever adhesive/ sealer?
