Subwoofers / Speakers

Hey, Do any of you guys have any suggestions. I have broken three screws holding down my magnum 15 in one day. I put new ones in but the sub is rattling cause the screws arent keeping it down. What kind of screws should i am using 1 5/8 drywall screws. Suggestions?

I finally got some info on the new drivers. Very excited to try one out. I miss my old 2012. Thought I would share what I got from them

I've been going back and forth between what subs to get for about a year now, and still have no idea what to get. So my ? is, what is everyone's def of sq, meaning whats the difference is sound? Between the audioque hdc, ia dp, nightshade, xcon, everyone wrote back xcon ftw, but when I look on audioque's website, they have a guy winning sq comps, Nick at ia said they have ppl running dp for sq, I've read nightshades were better than those two, and the xcon would have the best sq, but mabye not have the spl as the others??? I think the sub will go as low as the fs?? maybe lower, so the xcon ftw.... but I want to make sure its the loudest as possible too. I'm guessing I w…

Ok..My original plan was to go with a single 12" Q sub. However in my intro thread I was informed I would probably want to look at the BL instead. This is waht Ihave to work with: 1999 Mercury Cougar Looking at about a 1.1ft^3 Sealed enclosure. Amp: Kicker XS100 1200watts I'm aware the Q is rated at 1000w rms. I didn't think the 1200 would be that big of a difference. I read the BL is not a sealed enclosure friendly sub which kind of steered me on a differnt course. Any recommendations are welcome. I'm trying to keep it in the $300 and below range if possible. Thanks

I have the 8 speaker Boston Audio "premium" system in my 300C and have recently upgraded the (3) 3.5" speakers in the dash to Infinity Kappas. A very bright sounding speaker. I am looking to replace the 6X9's in the rear deck and front doors, but in order to get the most out of the factory Boston amp, I would like to find 2-ohm speakers similar to the infinity dash speakers that I have already replaced. However the Inifinity 6X9's take quite a bit of power (and will not be adding another amp), are there other brands that make 2-ohm coaxials??

I've been reading a lot about those new mids/components coming out, ED's big midbass, Adire's Extremis, RE's XXX 6.5, etc. and was wondering what some people thought of them. Me, personally, I can't wait for the XXX, mainly because I'm a big RE fan, and they are supposed to play from like 60 hz to 4-5khz clean! now that is a feat, but we'll just have to see how good they actually are when it gets closer to release time. Also, that XBL ^ 2 4" "full" range speaker, jeebus, that sounds impressive, but as i said above, we'll have to see. :ph34r:

im rebuilding my whole setup in my 86 camaro the only thing im keeping is the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X891 deck. what would be 2 good 12's and amp 4 the hatch. i want something that hits very hard but still has great sq right now i got 2 re audio re12's in a bandpass box running off a sony 1000w amp and i want louder. i think about $1000 will be my limit 4 both subs and amp.

what type of amp should i run to these speakers ?

Alright its been taking me a while to decide a setup. I was lookin into not TOO expensive but also not too cheap. I am not looking for the best SQ out there. Just something that will sound decent and i just wanna make sure this isnt just pure crap. So I'm about to build my second sub, but I'm stuck on which dustcap to use. I originally ordered the Carbon Fiber dustcap, but ended up getting the Poly dustcap as a freebie with an order I made. After placing it on the cone just to see what it looks like, I'm starting to wonder if the Poly dustcap actually looks better? What do you guys think? Go with the Carbon Fiber dustcap, or the Poly dustcap?

Yo.. As of right now I have 2 12" kicker cvrs and a 1000watt kenwood.. And frankly it's jus not enough. Im drivin an 03 Pontiac grand am..budget is not an issue I'll be puttin everything together over time.. I've been doin alot of lookin around.. I've set my mind on gettin 1 15" (daily driver) and I'm goin to upgrade all my eletrical etc . I'm jus havin a hard time finding my sub and amp.. If anyone could thro me some suggestions or maybe even convince me to go a different direction I'd appreciate it. Thanks guys.

Well, after further examination, one of my SPL 12's is completely trashed. 2 of the tinsel leads are burnt and the surround almost came loose from the frame. Some slight tearing is obvious on the surround and the coil was somehow misaligned, you'll see in the pictures where it managed to rub against the pole piece and the coil gap. hey Mark, looks like I'll need some recones in the future Just some advice, don't paint the inside of the basket where the soft parts are mounted. after doing some research on the internet, i end up with these three choices for my component speakers. i want a component with good sq that could hit hard. and please disregard the price comparison of the speakers. i want to know which would perform best.. TIA

My JL XR tweeters finally gave out on me after 5 years of service and I am looking at upgrading to a 6.5" set of components from my current 5.25s. I am looking at the Bravox CS60K's on the group buy due to the phenomenal price and what appears to be some serious quality speakers. Does anyone know what the mounting depth is on the 6.5 mid? Also, does anyone have any feedback on this component set? Good punchy midbass, crisp clean highs? I have a good deal of power to send to them (MTX 4160, I know REAL old school) and an AudioControl EQS to clean up the sound.

I have a JBL gto 1200.1 II amp that puts out about 1100 watts at 2 ohms. Right now I have 2 Orion HP 12s in 1.2 cubes each and they sound ok but I would like a louder setup that'll have good sq. I'm considering a different pair of 12s sealed or a single 12 ported. I've always ran sealed setups with 12s and I'm thinking of trying a pair of ported 10s. Can a pair of ported 10s get louder than and have good sq like a pair of sealed 12s? Right now I have 2 Orion HP 12s sealed.

Currently I have a 15" Fi SSD in a ported enclosure with almost 4 cu. ft. It is by far an amazing subwoofer hitting very low notes and hitting them hard. Recently however, I bought another 175 x 4 wrms amp and 6.5" component set that I am currently installing. That leaves another two channels that can be filled up with two more speakers, and I'd rather not use it on rear door speakers. My current subwoofer, does not give the desire punch that I want, and I was wondering if I should buy two woofers or mid-bass/mid-range drivers. Will these give me that punch fill that I want in my system, or should I instead go with two 8" subwoofers for punch. Another question is what cre…

hi i bought a btl 15 fully loaded just wonderin what gauge size the wires should be

any thoughts on what the best sounding enclosure for these subs are? I would lean towards vented for the boom, what do you guys think, gonna build a box for one soon. I want deep sounds, also some snap when I need it though.

what are some good ground pounder subs? i have no plans in competing i just want something that have deep bass that can go low and sound good in the process... i have 8.3 cubes where the rear seats would be in my truck. i dont want to run no more than 5500 watts. Something that love low tuning would be great and my budget is $1200 max for just subs. the size of the subs really dont matter all that much. well i had the day off of work and class today and was boared as hell. so i decided to make a new face for the front of the box the IA was in which is around 3.5CF with a big ass 4" slot port.i also installed a little oldschool kicker zr240 amp (clamped 475watts) and ran it with a 2 ohm load. im VERY surprised. the sub itself doesnt really move all that much and it gets lowwwwwwww. the range of hz it was low and powerful id say was between 20 and 38hz. everything else was ok. anyways i thought id fill you guys in on whats been going on with the danger ranger. i didnt get the mustang back today either b/c i had to buy a new starter and the mechanic cant install it till tom…
