Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

  1. Started by tysonm,

So right now I have a Cadence ZRS-8 (site says 1500 rms @ 1 ohm, but really puts out around 18-1900 rms @ 1 ohm), and a RD Alpha V2. I want to upgrade so I can get more output, I was thinking either going a single 15" or two 12", it can't be anything that will only fit in a SUV because this will be going into a trunk of a '98 Honda Accord Coupe, my budget is $500 (i would prefer used so I can buy the sub(s) cheaper). I was thinking about a 15" Xcon, 15" BTL, two 12" Icons, or two 12" BL, I am also open to other suggestions.

Any thoughts on which one of these 15" subs would be helpful. RE Audio SE '08 series aluminum spoke basket design---OR---Oz Audio Matrix Elite series??? Both of these are the same price which makes it even more difficult to choose. Looking for SQ so it will be going into a sealed box. Both are 4 ohm dvc wired to a 2 ohm load as my amp is only 2 ohm stable (boston acoustics gt-28 1100x1 @ 2 ohms)

  3. I have my front stage running active with my 9886, h100, and mrp-f250. I currently have Focal 165a1 speakers installed. 6.5" in the stock location in the bottom of the doors, and the tweeters in the dash reflecting off the windshield. I'm not happy with the sound currently. I'd like to find some mids with better midbass, less harsh tweeters, and put my tweeters on axis. I'm new to the world of buying seperate speakers. I looked on madisound and found the Vifa BC25TG15-04 and the Scanspeak Discovery 18W/4434G-00. What do you think of this combo? I'd leave the mids in the doors in the stock location, and make a pillar pods for the tweeters on axis with the driver's seat. I…

  4. So I need help choosing a subwoofer for my manager's car. He has a 2008 Civic 4dr with 2 JL Audio 12W0 in a vented box running off a JL J2.500 amp. He is selling off the subs and box due to the size, it takes half his trunk space (almost no room for golf clubs). He wants to have similar amount of bass in a smaller package and listens from rock to rap music 50/50 SPL SQ. I need some suggestions on what might be good choices to run off 500RMS @ 2ohms (thats what I have to work with). His current subs (http://www.shopatron.com/products/productdetail/part_number=93261/1451.0.1.1) Here are some of my choices I am looking at so far and am thinking sealed. Also the enclosure bu…

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and was hoping u experts can help me decide on a sub(s)/amp combo that would best suit my taste. I want either 2-10s or 1-12, I listen to mostly R&B and some Rap. I will probably get custom ported box build to spec or suggestions for my listen preference. I was looking at the Fi Audio Q, SSA Icon, SS Rl-p for 12s and the Fi Audio SSDs, SSA Dcons, SS Rl-i, Boston Acoustics G3s for 10s... I have about $1200 to spend and want to keep amp rms to a 1000watts or less cause I don't wanna upgrade my electrical and it should enough for daily listening.. All help is appreciated and any other suggestion are welcomed...

  6. Hi, I currently have 1 kenwood KFC W3012 with an alpine m500 amp running at 4 Ohms with 300 watts in a custom ported enclosure (my dad and I built it and it's not that good). I bought it about 6 months ago and am not happy with my purchase. It gets moderately loud in the mid-range bass, but when the songs get lower, it gets super quiet and just sounds bad. It gets the job done, but thats about it, so it's time for an upgrade. I have a crown victoria with the police package so it has a HO alt already, and it has plenty of trunk space for a large enclosure. My goal is to have the loudest system around 5-700 (not including enclosure). I listen to rap/ hip hop I've been doing…

Lately ive been considering upgrading the sub stage in my 1998 s10 extended cab truck. Currently I have a pre fabbed sealed downfire box. says its 1.75 cu ft per side (holds 2 12's). got 2 ppi subs in there powered by a older fosgate 1000.1bd. Not really liking the way it sounds sealed up. I know its a pre fab box and all but i love the output of a ported box. Love the lows. Of course if i could i would slap a btl or 2 in there but thats not realistic for me right now. Im on a budget. I will be building the box myself. And more than likely getting an audiopipe 1000 or 1500 amp. Current fosgate is screwy and i dont want to use it. When i look at the t/s specs of a sub to b…

  9. I destroyed my tweeters and need help choosing on a replacement. I can see some of my ignorance on the install also, such as poor aiming. So I am hoping to learn the rest of the tricks to installing tweeters. The tweeters are Seas 27tffnc/g. They sounded very clean and sterile, and I cant say I ever had a complaint with them. I feel what i was lacking was more due install perhaps. That and my listening style. I do 90% of my listening on the highway with the window down. Thats NOT going to change. I don't do demo's and rarely even have someone in the car with me. As far as what was lacking. I could never quite get the vocals to sound "full" or "natural". P…

Been looking through all the specs for the three. Well what specs their are for the Xcon. They all seem to be about equal in most aspects. What I'm looking for is a sub that can handle my Sundown 1500d daily, sounds good, will get loud when asked. Looking at the 12" or 15" models due to hight limitations in my car. Have up 3cft to work with. If you can think of another sub that will fit the bill throw it in the mix. This is for a 2005 Focus hatchback. I have a Kinetic 1800 under the hood with the big 3 done, 1/0 to the back and a second 1800. Sundown 1500d, 125.2, and 50.4. TC Sounds RMB65s in the doors, Cadence dome mids and Vifa xt25 in a-pillar pods. Head is a Pioneer …

Hi you guys I don't no if this is in the right section or not. But I have a deliman right now and I keep picking my brain over and keep changing my mind. Ive never built a system from the ground up but now I'm getting real into the bass addiction. Currently have 2 12" cvr and kicker 750 amp. I want more!. I have a 02 trailblazer and I'm starting from the ground up. I just bought and installed an pioneer avh-x4600bt(love it). I got 1/0 gauge and did big 3. Part of my plans for my system is to do all 1/0 runs, get h/o, xs power 3400 up front, 1 or 2 xs3100 in back(depending on what power I'm running). Now thus is where my dilemma comes into play I don't no what subwoofers t…

Which subwoofer would be best for a daily driver? It would be a 15". My choices are as followed: Sundown Zv4 15, Psi Platform 3, X15, or a DC level 4? Im not making this to be a VS thread, i was just asking for some opinions on which would be best for a daily set up?

I have a 99 mustang with a 12 D2. Right now it is in a prefab box that came out to 1.56 cubes before displacement. I am very happy with this setup but I think it could be better. I want increbible output with the best sound quality. Would it be advantagious to get a new box built even if I stayed sealed? I am worried that I box around 2.0 cf tuned to about 28 hz is going to be too big to fit in my tiny little mustang trunk. Should I stick with the box I have or would I benifit from a new box? Any thoughts or input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

So I have most of the system planned. Truck is a super cab 2014 F150. Subs will be two RE REX 10s Dual 4s. Each sub will get .72 cubic feet sealed. Box is going under the rear seat. Sub amp will be SAE-1000D Comp set amp will be Rockford Fosgate P300x2. I am not sure what comps to go with. Going to be a 6.5" set. Budget up to around 200 ish dollars for them. Top mount depth cant be more than 2 3/8th inch. Have been looking at Kappa 60.11cs, Alpine Type R, JL c2-600 is close enough with a spacer. I might need to spend a little less to get a smaller driver, because I cant space the speaker out from the door too much with out hitting the door panel, and I am not …

I'm starting to plan out my next setup and am a little stuck on what to choose. To start off, which ever I choose will be walled at the B-pillars of my 03 Ford Expedition XLT. I will most likely tune to between 30Hz and 32Hz. I have 2 SAZ-3000's at the moment, but will pick some more up down the road. So I'm looking for your opinions on which subs to go with. 4 Incriminator DP 21"s 4 DC LVL 5 18"s 4 Fi BTL 18"s I am looking to get really loud and pound out the lows. I'm not too worried about sq as I don't drive too much, just be half way musical, NOT something strictly for burps. I know it's all good equipment, just looking for some opinions. Thanks

Hello guys, I currently run a DD 9515 in a 3.8 ft" box tuned to 35 Hz with a 6.5" round pvc pipe. The port has a little flared on both ends. My amplifier is Incriminator 2.0. I have 2 AGM batteries and the big3 is done. No voltage problems. I am used to xcons, icon, and Fi btl n2. And I loved them all ! I found the DD to be brutal, it can play all the notes I want but it's "dry", not round enough. I don't know how to explain it. It is loud and can get low in this box. What would you suggest ?
