Here is a cool one for everyone who is amazed at the size of an MTX RFL. Here it is compared with a Shocker Sig. One of my favorite pics. And yes, the Shocker is a 12".

  3. I searched the web looking for a "how to" on fixing Tinsel leads and couldn't find one. So I made one myself and would like to share it with the car audio community. (I will be cross posting this "how to" other web sites.) Don't throw that sub away just because the leads broke! Here's how to fix them. Finding new leads can be a pain, and this is just a "how to" video. So I will just be using De soldering braid instead of replacement tinsel leads. De soldering braid will work in place of real leads, but not for long. This can be a bit time consuming and will take some patience. I'll use this old sub I had laying around for this. Start by going around the dust cap with a…

  4. Just wondering if ANY Members remember these Sub's. They were manufactured by Still Water Designs back in the Early 90's. Most remember there 15" box because it had a whole row of 2 1/4" ports all way across the bottom of the box. But they also made some Bad A_S 10's that were sold in bass tubes. They were isobaricly stacked. If you didn't know what you were looking at you just thought it was a 10" sub in a tube. But if you looked close you would wonder WTF when you noticed that it's mounted in a 12" hole with what looks to be bolts going through the normal mounting holes. . . . . . . . . . . . They were Very expensive back then not to mention in efficient. $700 a tube an…

Firstly I must say this is the best forum I have come across and has helped me by far the most! from NOOB! to beginner I'd say "D So, I like my bass, well what i have of it. Just a Panasonic mini-system in my room that can push 450 watts max with sub. I believe I'm looking for an SQ set-up, to me I'm sure 1000 watts RMS will still get loud sealed, maybe not to you maniacs pushing 3000d's n chit! So to me... This "Should" work well ? :S 1) Fi Q 12" ( Dual 1 or 2)? 2) 1-1.5ft Sealed ( Advise for size or difference between 1 and 1.5 ) 3) Sundown SAE-1000d or RF P1000BD (Don't Know which is best) 4) Speakers to replace stock - ALPINE-SPR-17S Comps 5) Need an amp to run them (…

Hey all, My FI SSD 15 finally bit the dust with a fried voice coil. I tried to contact FI about possible warranty, but had no luck So here I am trying to decide on a new sub. My current amp is a Sundown SAE-1200d. I have heard that they are actually under rated, and push more like 1300-1500. With that being said, what are some recommendations you all would have subwoofer wise? I am looking for a 15'' btw I was thinking about a DC Audio level 3, but it seems like they only come in dual 4 ohm. Any help with this, is greatly appreciated ~Tyler

As many of you know, I was looking around for a high excursion 18" driver with a relatively high efficiency, low inductance, mid Q and low Fs for primarily IB use at a price of around $300 and couldn't find anything that combined all of my criteria. So, I got ahold of Adire to see what they could cook up. Info is down below. They "quoted" me a cost of around $250 per driver for an order quantity of 12. Plus shipping and a little give and take of the rough cost.........For now I'd say that one would run around $325 shipped to the lower 48 states (may be a little on the high side, but I'd rather over-estimate than under-estimate). I'm not making a profit on this....your …

I currently have a zapco st-4x running active with ID xs28 tweeters and xs65 mids. I am contemplating getting a zapco st-2x to run the tweeters so I can bridge the 4ch with the mids. Would it be $100 well spent for the 2ch amp or would I be spinning my wheels? Trying to improve output and impact. It sounds awesome right now, just not quite loud enough.

I've been a FI guy ever since my first Fi sub...... I've been in love and never have doubted Fi. That is until I got these gen 3 neo btl's.... the bass is far different compared to my gen 2 even in a very similar enclosure.... I don't feel like typing a long drawn out review at the moment but in general I am disappointed.... Secondly I beat on my gen 2 btl with a 3000D at 1 ohm for almost two years and was happy... I recently sold this setup so I could try out the neo's... Well tonight one of my subs started scraping.... took it out of the box and it ohmed out perfect. I then free aired it and it was apparent I had a problem... so after taking the moving assembly out of…

  10. so i have alpine SPR 60 c speakers in front of my car. powered by an amp. the left tweeter produces sound. but it sounds very weak at times, sometimes i can tell more so than others, in certain parts of songs. but sometimes it just sounds lower volume than the right side. sometimes it sounds almost crackly, like something is loose in the tweeter. not sure how to explain how it sounds. but ive noticed it, and done left and right balance to be sure. and theres quite a big difference in the left to right sides. so what can i do? and what should i check? im thinking it might be the wiring or the tweeter is dying? if the amp channel is dying, i wo…

  12. Alright guys new one for you, My stupid city is now getting ready to pass a new law which states that if your sound system is too loud in your car, the police IMPOUND your car. Am I losing it or is this not the most Freaking DUMB THING you've ever heard in your life. If a cop can hear your music from over 25 feet, they fine you 650 dollars, and they impound your car. So much for getting a new sound system in my car. SARASOTA, FLORIDA I HATE YOU. any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hello all, I've been a motorcycle rider for 3 years, and am finally joining the cage crew. So, to get straight to the point, I believe an XCON will satisfy my desires. I want a sub that hits low and hard. "SQL" with heavy focus on the L. So, I have no idea what i'd need to run this setup. By this I mean big three, HO alternator etc, i'm not sure what i'm looking at. I don't really have a price range since I've been saving for a while (well, let's just say $2,000 so it doesn't get crazy), my main issue is space. I drive a 2013 Ford Focus Titanium, so I don't exactly have a huge trunk. Something I've discovered though is the spare tired is loca…

So have any SSA members played with this new sub? From the reviews I have read so far, its on par with a W7 output wise... but with great SQ. how would it compare with say a 15" Fi Q/bl or SS RL-P? If its comparing to the W7, then my first guess would be not at all(SQ, or SPL)...right? I have not heard any of these subs in person so its hard to make a decision....for the new build. leaning towards rlp's at the moment...

  18. I just got my new ssa xcon today in the mail. i hooked it up in a 3.6 cubic foot enclosure tuned to 32hz. It is only its test box until I can afford a proper enclosure. Its getting 1600rms from a hif\onics brutus amp, and this thing sounds great and goes loud, I will post up pictures and videos tomorrow once I fine tune it to the best it can get under the circumstances. I can't wait until I can get a new amp and enclosure this thing will rock. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

So to start things off I have a 2000 Silverado ext. Cab. And would like to get away from the Coaxials I have now and put in two sets of Components. My plans are to put both sets of drivers in each one of the doors, two tweeters in the dash, and two tweeters in the back columns. I Personally am a Fan of Pioneer Premiers line of products when it comes to speakers. and this is what im looking to do. Front 6 3/4 Pioneer Premier TS-C720PRS 50w rms 200max Back 5 1/4 Pioneer Premier TS-C520PRS 30w rms 150max For the most part I will be fading the music to the front speakers, the reason i am getting the back is for a little bit of a rear fill, and because I often have people in t…

I just got a newsletter from Nick about our current status.... Just two things to touch on...much more to come in the nearing weeks... Cost of drivers is going DOWN....considerably...I don't know about you, but how much cheaper can you make a Magnum (I love that name ) and still have its performance equivalent to that of a Brahma or XXX? I can see the smiles already.... Changes are being made to the 8 proto....Can't say what they are...most of which are physical changes, and not so much frequency capabilities... That's all I got for now.... Bring on the emails

I have to decided to just go with a front stage in my car instead of a set of components for the front and the rear. I am thinking of a 3 way because I have my subs crossed at 60 Hz and want a little more midbass. I am going for an SQ setup and listen to everything, but I generally like heavier midbass, warm midrange, and softer highs. I have a 2004 Tahoe with an Alpine IVA-W505 up front with a Audiocontrol DQXS for when I can run active. I have eDead 120 and SS Damplifier Pro for damping and the subs are 4 ED 13Av.2s ported, tuned to 32 Hz, on an USAmps Ax3200de. The electrical is a 300 Amp Alt., 0 AWG, RF 10 Farad Cap, and 4 Deka Intimidators. I plan on using a Zap…

  23. So, I'm currently using the time alignment feature on my prs80. Tweeters are on the pillars about eye level .The mids are in the doors , in the stock location . I was thinuking of adding a pair of hertz esk 165 in some qform kick panels . I would be wiring them parallel to the doors . Would time alignment be affected significant enought to cause a problem .?The kicks would be about 8 in farther away, and almost on axis .

I am very upset, disappointed, and mostly saddened that such a great company and person has had his heart and hard work stripped from him.... In case said physical items are not recovered...I will consider starting a gift fund for SI...I believe in Nick...and I will help him in any way I can.... 25. I cooked the voice coil in one of my Aura 10 inch midbass drivers So now I need to replace them with something more heavy duty. http://www.madisound.com/catalog/PDF/aurasound/NS10-513-4A.pdf I know the t/s parameters should tell me which driver should be a good candidate but don't understand all of them to the fullest yet, SO this is where I am asking for help. The Drivers will be mounted in my doors IB and will be getting 300 watts RMS. They will be bandpassed 50hz to 400hz, give or take whatever it takes to blend them. Based on my installation I ASSUME that I need a driver with a total Q value of around .35? I ASSUME that because I burnt the voice coil in the Aura I s…
