I tried calling you today about it but no response. I finally got my VCM today after a couple of months and hooked it right up. My problem is that it tries to charge at 19 volts.... it won't let me adjust the voltage at all. I have quadrouple checked the dip switches and they are on the correct setting. My alternator uses an exciter I got from DC power to run... when I put the vcm harness in between it tries to charge at 19 volts and won't do anything else. The only thing it will do is go dim and bright and tell me voltage... it will go into voltage adjust mode (blinking decimal) but the voltage won't adjust up or down.... I've hit both up and down hundreds of time. So …

So I emailed xs and asked about what I needed as far as batteries go. Here is the actual email. I just wanted to know if this is all I really need? I want my voltage to stay up and dont want it dropping. What would you recommend for my current installation? As it stands right now I have a 260 amp alternator. I drive a lincoln aviator which is the same as a ford explorer. The stock alternator was a 130 amp. I do not know how much current draw it pulled but I am sure it is more than the average car. I listen to my music loud 90% of the time. As for my current installation goes I have 4 of the sundown saz1500s going in which have fuse ratings of 150 amps and then I…

  9. Say I have a group of rear batteries near my amps, but I also of course tie in with the front of the car. At the front of the car is a factory 175A alternator, and a stock group 65 battery. How do I figure how much current I could draw from that area so I can run the appropriate wiring. Also I'll be replacing the front battery with an xspower D6500, I want to run the wire that will support that and the alternator instead of doing that later, so I guess maybe the factory battery doesn't really matter in this, but I'd still like to figure out if what I have now is even a bottleneck currently. Waiting for some new amps to arrive and while that goes on I'm doing everything I …

I have enough money for either battery, I am just curious which is better for my needs: It has to be a 12v battery that has 6 cells or less and is less than 800 cubic inches, but both batteries already fit this criteria I think. I will be replacing my starting battery first and then adding a secondary battery later. I will change vehicles at some point in the next few years so I guess the smaller s1200 would be more flexible as far as space limitations are concerned, but the 3400 would fit in the starting battery location of my current vehicle, (1993 Saturn SW2). As long as either battery fits I will go with the one with more juice, (of course), but I know that the 3400 d…

Hi, I'm planning to do the big3 upgrade this week end, but I would like to have a secondary battery in my trunk. I don't know the size of my stock alternator, but I don't want to change it. I have 2 amplifiers with around 1200 watts rms. Someone here, told me that it would not be really good to buy a Honda civic size battery for either secondary or primary battery. What should I chose? It is not to play with the engine off for long time, just to have a little more power. What do you think? a secondary one (whicv one), or just a big primary one (which one) ? Thanks for your help. BTW : I have a XS batt dealer in my country, and he is really into caraudio!

  20. Oh how many times have I been asked that question. I wouldn't still have to be working if I had a $1 for each time I have read "all batteries are the same" on the forums. In the past I have been able to tell you the differences, and post up info on the differences......................... but now...................... I get to post up video and show some informative videos that will help you make your decisions on which batteries to purchase. I hope that these videos will allow you to make a more informed decision when you make your next purchase. Lets face it XS Power batteries are expensive and there are a lot of companies out there that are cheaper and claim to provide…

If I am going to be running two dc 2.0's strapped, pushing two Level 4 15's. I currently have a D3400 in front, and an XP3000 in rear. If I add another XP3000 will that be good? Going to have a 200A alternator, compared to 110 stock. Unfortunately cannot go bigger on the alt with my car due to belt wrap and pulley style.

I have looked at the chart you have posted many times and in the end I guess it leaves me confused. I understand that using one battery for the vehicle will have less reserve for the stereo system as opposed to multiple batteries. My understanding is that the battery is there as a, "buffer", for lack of a better term. It is my understanding that the battery will deliver amps "quicker" than the alternator can react, which is why more batteries can stabilize voltage with a heavy amp draw. I understand that the chart posted is very general in terms of what battery can support "XXX" amount of wattage. What I'd like to know before making a decision on which battery I may need…
