would a d1200 or d5100 work as a starting battery? im thinking of going with one or the other but wanna make sure they'll work. also would it be worth the price difference to go with 5100 over the 1200? im only gonna run 1200wrms. also what the differnce between the d5100 and d5100r? thanks Dustin. http://www.powermastermotorsports.com/mobile_audio.html

Just wondering how much height does an i-bar and the short posts add to the batteries? I'm thinking of upgrading to a 3400 under the hood but I'm worried about clearance issues with the top.

Hey Scott, do you still do this for people? I'm researching elternatives for boosting the amount of power i have in my car as i need maximum power at 2 ohms as my impedance curve shows that wired at 0.7 ohms, my lowest drop at full tilt is 2.21 ohms but at moderate levels, the rise drops down to 1.76 ohms so i would need an amp that is lenient or 1 ohm stable as you can see. I know that you have modded these amps before and am sure that even if the procedure isn't 100% full proof, i shouldnt be stressin it as much as my rise is just a hair below the 2ohm threshold. I'm still unsure on what amps to get for certain but this sparked my interest. 4,000w @ 2ohm total is benefi…

Hello, One of my friend has a 15' Xcon sub and he is willing to buy a Sundown 3500 D to play it at 2 ohms. He has a JBL px 600.4 at 2 ohms for all his speakers. Everything is (will be) playing on an old Optima yellow and a stock 105 amp alternator. He wants to upgrade his electrical system : he's installing 0 ga power and ground everywhere and he has planned to do the big3. We have a local dealer of XS and Kinetic. He knows that his optima is finally quite dead, so he will replace it. What should he do ? He would like to play his system a little bit with the engine off for demonstration. But this is not a must have ! I am waiting for advices. He will get his car back from…

I have looked at the chart you have posted many times and in the end I guess it leaves me confused. I understand that using one battery for the vehicle will have less reserve for the stereo system as opposed to multiple batteries. My understanding is that the battery is there as a, "buffer", for lack of a better term. It is my understanding that the battery will deliver amps "quicker" than the alternator can react, which is why more batteries can stabilize voltage with a heavy amp draw. I understand that the chart posted is very general in terms of what battery can support "XXX" amount of wattage. What I'd like to know before making a decision on which battery I may need…

Hey all.Im looking to do some battery upgrading.I want to replace my stock battery upfront and replace the cheap walmart deep cycle in the back. Here is my main concern.I have a old 1977 Oldsmobile Delta 88 and sometimes its takes a bit of cranking to get it started. So,im worried about running the battery low by cranking my car to start and then it not starting because the battery is to weak.In the summer or warmer weather it starts just fine.Im mainly worried about in the winter time when it takes me awhile to get it started.I dont have alot of room upfront but i have alot of room in the back.So I guess what it boils down to is which battery should I get for upfront?I don…

I have a 2000 Frontier w/ a 2.4L 4cyl engine. The stock alternatoris fine for running the engine & truck stuff but I need to add a hi output alt to feed my pending system(2 yellowtops and 1 saz3000d, and Zapco 200.2 for front stage) I'd rather leave the stock alt where it is, as it is on the bottom of the engine and in a tiny space & I really don't want to ph@k with it. Is there a way to bracket a big GM alt on top of the motor somewhere? I have room there but want to make sure this can be done and how to do it right. I would want the alt to run the system related stuff only.

  23. No lights were left on, no doors were left open (if that could even be an issue since my Ford's lights go off after 10 minutes to save the battery anyway). After getting the batteries charged, I put them in and hope the alternator would do the rest. I left my car running for an hour... Perfect! The battery's voltage tested at 14.4v while running. Then I turned the car off. The voltage dropped to 12.6v, what a fine resting voltage you may think.... After waiting a minute or so, I started to notice that every 5-10 seconds, the voltage dropped by .01v. This was odd, and I'm wondering what's up. I'd love someone to tell me a problem like this is covered under the warr…
