  1. SECOND SKIN GIVEAWAY REVIEW!! (Sorry if it takes a while to load there are a few pics!) I am no stranger to this wonderful product... having two full layers in the trunk, generous amounts on the front doors and rear trunk wall I've really enjoyed what a big difference in sound quality Damp Pro has made. Before I installed it, pretty much every panel on the car would vibrate incessantly and after futile attempts at fixing the problem with weatherstripping and rags I decided to order a pack last summer. I'm very grateful to Ant at SSA for choosing me as a winner in the giveaway contest, and for allowing me to finally complete my sound deadening endeavor. I chose to install the door pack I was sent onto the roof, because it was the most logical choice between the areas of the car I haven't covered. My roof skin had separated from the roof support, causing the panel to go apenuts with certain frequencies of bass, so I tackled the process today of damplifying the roof (is that a word? If not it should be hehe) Since two full layers in the trunk worked wonders, I tried something a little different this time... I placed full square pieces in between the roof supports onto the bare skin of the roof and applied "center" pieces of the material in the middle of each larger piece... I imagine it'll help the vibrations quite a bit. At the time of this writing my headliner is still dropped inside of the car for preparations of my screens being installed so I'm going to have to wait a bit to test it out, but there is no doubt in my mind that this will make a huge difference in the sound. I really promote this product at car shows, I especially argue the price point vs. performance of the product (when compared to other more expensive brands vs. square footage such as DynaMat) and I came up with the idea of maybe cutting up a piece into small squares and handing it out at the car shows with the website written on it... so people can go and compare for themselves... like I tell everyone I'm all about saving money while keeping the quality straight So thanks again SecondSkin and keep up the great work! Oh, and remember kids, the edges are sharp! I forgot to wear gloves this time and paid for it with nicked fingers. Headliner dropped can't get it out Here are some older pics from my initial install last summer: Bare trunk The aftermath of a day of Damplifying! Trunk Lid Hazards of the job!!! lol

  5. Heard marks truck and wanted to know who the hell made that bad ass woofer lol...
  6. Yes wire it in series to 2 ohms.
  7. I'm not adding any airspace. The displacements are subtracted from the volume and for reference the displacements I am talking about are like bracing(which there is none in this instance) and sub. Your off because your calculating to much port displacement. 1. The physical port is only 21" long. So you have an extra .021ft^3 2. You are accounting for 6.25" of port wall that is not there. So then you have an extra .0352ft^3 So your 2.2795ft^3 + (.0352+.021) = 2.33ft^3 that I calculated.
  8. If they are single voice coils you'll need 2ohm subs. If they are dual voice coils you'll need dual 1ohm or dual 4ohm coils.

Lets Go Horns, Texas all he way.
  10. If you burned one coil, I would check into to see what I did wrong to burn a coil or otherwise you will burn that second coil also.
  11. Jacob definitely does not tell presale price before hand that will be something you will find out when he starts the pre-sale.
  12. You aren't coherent. Two different things. Judging and reality are NOT the same.
  13. Point of the thread is why we don't like it when people use terms they don't understand. SQLMonte is just proving he doesn't at all understand the terms either. Simple really. SQ is not subjective as accurate reproduction is finite, judging an SQ competition however is.
  14. You really just don't get it, do you? It apparently isn't that common as you obviously still lack the knowledge. You argued that SQ is subjective since SQ competitions rely on a subjective judge. I exposed the flaw in your premise, which completely dismantled your entire argument. How was this "common knowledge" when you obviously lacked it? If the rest of my post was "common knowledge" then you wouldn't still be posting as the "knowledge" that SQ is not subjective but personal preference is would be something you possessed. So far your best defense has been to complain about my use of the word "fail", which I hate to say was in the english language long before the internet came to be. There are a fairly wide array of measurements which can indicate how "true to the source" a system will be. The further these measurements stray from ideal, the further from accuracy the system will fall. I even gave a specific example in my previous post of a situation that might sound "pleasing" on a preference level but would lack accuracy. Perhaps you should brush up on reading comprehension? What the fuck are you talking about? That's exactly what this portion of the discussion is revolving around. The definition is completely different if you allow SQ to be subjective rather than objective. If sound quality is subjective then the only way to define sound quality is by what sounds good to each individual personally, which means sound quality will be defined differently for each individual. Someone could define "sound quality" as having 150db of bass with no importance placed on the other 7 octaves of audible sound. How does this make any sense to you? This is what you are arguing in favor of. If you fail (OMG, I said it again) to understand this, then there's no point in continuing the discussion. Someone else said "SQ is completely subjective" I said, "No it's not" You said "Yes it is! But don't make this about the definition of SQ or you're straying off topic!" How does that make any sense to you either? The standard suite of properly conducted audio measurements is a good place to start. Anomalies being indicative of inaccuracies, the larger the anomaly and/or greater quantity of anomalies the further from accurate the system is. It's not perfect, but it's far better than calling everything subjective and allowing anyone's own personal preference to suffice as a definition of "sound quality".
  15. i agree. it shouldnt have to be black and white. everyone looks at it like there should be no shades of grey. i prefer spl subs, with sq mids and highs... and i feel like whenever i mention this, people think im committing a crime. EDIT: and when i say sound quality, i dont mean the rediculous measures some people on these forums go to just to make the sound quality a tiny bit better. i mean mids and highs that were designed for sq. im not really that educated on mids and highs, nor have i been exposed to much in person, but the mids and highs that i heard that just get really loud, that have similar sound quality to a stock door speaker, i cant stand those. This isn't about what you like it is about mis-using a term. I think you are also misapplying SPL as well though as I'd bet you wouldn't (and couldn't) have an SPL bass setup with your "SQ" front stage. I'd also bet that what you call and SQ front stage isn't anywhere near the category. You are trying to fit into some ideal parameters to make yourself feel like you fit. Don't, instead just like what you like and describe how it is. BTW an SQ front stage by definition has midbass that is of the same level as the subs...
  16. You know what, that sounds like a damn good idea! Ah, now I see where the miscommunication came into play. No, I have not tested the amp to see what it's putting out, system has been down for the past couple months. I'll go about doing that once I get her back up and running, which will hopefully be the beginning of January. Very good point about the box, I just wish I knew how to go about finding out the response of a given box. Does Bass Box Pro v.6 do that? Do you think I could bother you to help me figure out what some good designs are as far as response once I figure out out to map it out and do some designs in it? I'm going to do a single 2512 for the time being, until I can upgrade my electrical to sufficiently run 2400rms, so I was going to build the box to DD's suggested specs of 1.75cubes and tuned between 36-38Hz. When I get the pair I was just going to double that, so 3.5 cubes. I guess I will need to get my hands on a Mechman Rhino series alt before I can double up my amps and subs, if you're gonna do it might as well do it right, right?
  17. Non-responsive PMS? That time of the month already?? Hehe j/k shizz
  18. bl's and a good box will net a good improvement. buddy i know was doing a 140.2 with 2 DD 8s and a pr1000 so i believe you can beat the with ease with bl's. this is mephismzd btw on my girls computer.
  19. Thanks bigrank916 I will be sending the money shortly. I had the first one, it was a great amp. I recently got all my amps/cd player/dash/cd's stolen so I am lucky that there is a pre sale.
  20. I would tie those parents up and drop them into a pen full of rabid piglets. That's child abuse if you ask me but then again we're talking about another country here. I did lol at the Numa-Numa song in the background at 3:17
  21. I mainly listen to rap/hip-hop but when I'm in the gym, I find something a little more hardcore motivating for me... depends on your taste... for rock try some Lamb of God, A7X, something speedy, intense and fast paced... but make sure you throw something a little more low-key in for your rest periods or god forbid you blow a blood vessel... hehe =) Oh, and I know it's cliche, but in my gym they spin the 80's station every now and then... I'm talking Rocky-esque music (Europe - Final Countdown) ..... nothing quite like that to get you running up and down flights of stairs and punching hapless meat slabs
  22. x2 On that man, I have a small studio set up in the house.. I'm usually in the lab makin beats or working on my productions skills... designing mixtape covers.. drinking beer... throwin' money at the Caddy.... Chasin' tail... Drinkin more beer..

Yes 1/0ga is a must, the need for an alt is subjective... depends on what your stock alt puts out. A high quality battery up front like a Kinetik or Optima would be a must I would think, another in the back would help out. For example, I'm running about 2600wRMS total, with a stock alt (160amps) and a RedTop up front, and don't have too much of a problem with voltage drop until its cranked full volume for a while. Deadening helps out a LOT, my trunk and doors are completely pasted with DampPro which I recommend highly. Great product with a great price point. Also, off-topic - Shizzon do you have any vids of your system? It looks pretty mean I was just checkin out your sig haha

They had a lot of hype on the forum about six months ago, they are nothing special.
  32. why is 2inch port to small? I didn't say it was too small, did I?
  33. 0 points
Not sure what you're asking for. Do you want to know if your measurements will result in your box being tuned to 35Hz or do you want to know if that's a good box to put your subs in?
  34. Have you tried to uninstall then reinstall your audio driver?
  35. 2" wide port is awfully narrow, I never go less than 3" wide on the port, but that's just me.

Oh yeah, i've heard of them alright. I've seen quite a few release the magic smoke too

As many have stated, prefab isn't a great idea. It really doesn't take much to build your own box, ever thought about doing that instead?
  38. Nope, never run them. I've seen their stuff before, but that's about it
  39. That is really going to come down to user error more than company error since subwoofers play what you tell them to.
  40. I've always been a fan of those Ti series amps. One day I'll get one
  41. Hard as it is for me to say this, I agree with the previous post. Not only that, but the PCX line of subs from PPI are $60 subs. Need I say more? Precision Power PPI PCX122 (PCX-122) 12" Subwoofers Car Subwoofers Car Audio Car Audio, Video, & GPS Navigation - Sonic Electronix
  42. The logical thing to do, regardless of what anyone says, is to follow the manufacturers guidelines. If in doubt exactly what those are, might be a good idea to call them to get clarification.
  43. thats actually a ground wire So there is a little wire that is part of the klarity rcas that is a ground? I didn't see that on the pics, and I've never seen an rca with the normal plugs and then an extra wire poking out... Is this cable a hermaphrodite? lol Seriously though, I'm confused on what you guys are saying. Its not an extra wire poking out, it is a wire in between the two RCA's that stops about 2 or three inches from the ends of the rca's.
  44. x2, and will there be any other amps in the install?
  45. I like Kicker subs, if I were to buy mainstream I would buy Kicker (used CVR's and CVX's in the past and loved them).
  46. Hopefully you will be running it at two ohms, and too many factors to tell you especially with the amount of information you gave us. Just go buy both and come back to us and let us know which one did better.
  47. Its never good to put an uncharged battery on an alternator from my understanding.
  48. I spy KnuKonceptz Klarity RCA Kables, FTW! Any updates?
