  1. Well if you are choosing a secondary battery, then your options are only limited by space you have available and $$$$$. lol Here is a guide for our batteries and the wattage they produce as both starting batteries and secondary batteries. One thing to keep in mind is that when you combined multiple batteries together they produce more individual power, because that optimizes the internal pressure.
  2. E-mailing they replied pretty quick just be patient. And the recones are on there website in the recone side and it says the q and everthing. I believe you cannot change that sub into a bl ecause they are completely different series with different goals in mind.
  3. Don't build an enclosure just because you want to build something else or because someone else made something like it , build something that fits your woofer and goals ... who cares what kind of box gets the job done .... better of posting the woofer you've got and the goals you want to achieve in how big a space, asking what type of box would suit you best
  4. Lol, the AQ aren't cheap but overpriced. Bang for the buck every line that Mach 5 sells is better than the AQ stuff.
  5. As for woofers -- the Z v.2 and NS v.2 (and all but the first run of NS v.1) are built here at Sundown. The NS v.2 is the result of well over a years work of testing the "Monster" prototype and the Nightshade v.1 since they were introduced... pretty slick design. I was able to use a ~50% longer coil and add quite a bit of mass (triple joint ring, thicker former, more windings, etc) with NO loss in SPL output per watt. The motors are not built in house as it's not cost effective for us at this time -- but final assembly takes place here. Smaller woofers are outsourced -- I've spent a few years getting to know the build houses that assemble my woofers and I am now quite familiar with what they are capable of and can make top quality drivers with them. The SA-12s have had only ONE driver fail our pre-shipment QC out of all the units sold so far. I wasn't able to get QC that good in the USA.
  6. Hey guys, I use two Korean build houses for amps -- the 4500D is made in a different place than my other Korean amps. I use a Chinese build house for the SAE-1200D and future SAE models (SAE-1000D was Korean). I am slowly tooling proprietary boards for Sundown one at a time... the SAZ-3500D is my board tooling, the SAZ-2500D is my board tooling, and I have several more in the works that I have not discussed. Same build house does not make all the amps the same. Support, warranty, and service also make a big difference and are the #1 reason people keep coming back to Sundown. PS: All of the new Incriminator amps are proprietary boards for IA as well. I know the guys over at IA and they make a fine product.
  7. Or even 10 more beyond that. It really is the components on the board(s) that make most of the difference
  8. Good assumption is to assume nearly everything you've learned there that didn't come from Aaron or John to be wrong. *could be others but I don't go there as the nonsense drives me nuts but i thought when the impedance is higher, the amp has more control over the cone... resulting in more accurate reproduction?... Hahahahaha. dont laugh, ass. im trying to learn here. Easy tough guy. KU gave you your answer, I'll laugh all I want because you could have used he search function and found the answer easier. i bet you feel good laughing at people that are trying to learn a thing or two. usually the search function just leads to a ton of different threads, and id have to read through all of them, which would take longer than just starting a thread. real mature. Now you know why I get pissed when people make stupid threads. Searching WOULD be useful if all these asshats actually followed the T&C's. An 8ohm load is easier on your amplifiers for sure, but hearing the difference between amplifiers properly setup just isn't going to happen in your car.
  9. One of the best articles I've read on here to date! Very nice write up from the Staff. I just wanted to say good job guys! Looking forward to more quality information like this!
  10. 1 point
im confused... can you elaborate more? and are you being serious or sarcastic when you say the wardens are very musical? There is no reason at ALL neodymium motors are any less "musical" than their ferrite counterparts. i didnt mean because of the motor, i meant because i thought it might be designed to be an uber spl machine that might be aimed for more for burps than music It's not designed to be an uber SPL machine, and 99% of the time the enclosure and installation determine the volume at which frequencies are played (SPL).
  11. I put my D4 DCON 10 in a 1.3ft^3 box tuned to 33hz and it sounds great. I have it in my wife's 01' Bonneville powered by and SAZ-1000D. Here is my build log and review. OldSkool_08 DCON Build Log and Review - SSA Car Audio Forum
  12. started the XCON section today. Almost done with that. This will deffenitly take a few days to build. Sound Solutions Audio - 18" XCON Optimal Ported Enclosure
