  1. I personally would pay the extra for the sundown. Not so much for the extra power, which it will do. But for the fact that its built like a tank and chances are it'll outlive you if you don't do anything stupid to it lol. Also they tend to hold resale value pretty good if you ever do plan on getting rid of it to upgrade down the road. You can save a bit if you go with a refurbished from db-r instead of new...
  2. Well nice to have you hear, if it isnt in your budget then go for what is. Yeah I dont blame you for not wanting to spend more money, either amp will do the job (one just cost more).
  3. What happened was the hats came in and the embroidery guy messed up and they looked very shoddy... I don't want to send anybody anything that I wouldn't be willing to pay for myself..and crooked stitching and lettering that isn't centered/bunched isn't tolerable...could have very easily sent the hats out to fill orders but I didn't feel comfortable doing that as I would be pissed as all hell for paying for a hat that looks jank.. Just don't believe in screwing anybody over...it's worth the wait to have something done right. To this day people still think we don't build these things and slap a UPS label on a warehouse full of boxes and out the door they go..which..baffles me..
  4. Which driver is it, and how much power??? XX sqin per cubic foot is a way to estimate based on the fact that a 12" normally takes ~2 ft, a 15" ~4 ft, an 18" ~7 ft, etc. I am not saying it is a bad thing - it is a nice estimate for those that cannot figure out how much port area they really need. You actually determine port area based on the sub that will be used, the amount of power that will be used, and the tuning frequency. It is about air velocity. I have said it many times before. . .Do you think an 18" sub with 6mm of excursion and 300 watts applied will require the same amount of port area as an 18" sub with 27mm of excursion and 3000 watts applied just because they require the same amount of net airspace? Once again, it will not hurt if the lower powered driver has the additional port area, but if space is tight, it is not required. . . Also note that a flared PSP port does not require as much port area to operate properly vs. a non-flared round port or a slot port. Brian
  5. I think you may be confusing a couple different things. The T/S parameter BL alone tells you nothing about Xmax. You can obtain Xmag (linear excursion allowed by the motor) from a BL vs X plot, which is a graph displaying the value of BL in relation to excursion where Xmag is defined as the point where the BL falls to 70.7% of it's rest value. This is a graph of BL vs X generated by a Klippel analyzer; http://diymobileaudi...er%20prs/bl.JPG Xmax is generally accepted to be the lesser of Xmag and Xsus (linear excursion allowed by the suspension). I will also say there are several methods for determining Xmax, all of them may give slightly different results. So knowing what method the company uses for arriving at their Xmax can be important before trying to compare the Xmax values for two different drivers.
  6. X2 Whole lot of complaining going on. If you are such a supporter of the company you shouldnt have a problem waiting for something that you know is going to be top notch quality.
  7. I guess nobody reads these days... We just got magnets in for the BTL's yesterday. We are stuck at the mercy of customs as there are NO magnet manufacturers in the US..so we have no choice but to import them. I can't call a "friend" in customs and tell them to get us the stuff faster...due to the density of the magnets they are always x-ray'd and because they can't see through them they always go through manual inspection. Sometimes this can take 3 days..sometimes it can take 3 weeks if they want it to. We're at the mercy of them there is nothing we can do about it. I don't think anybody understands that we have nearly 200 BTL's that have been ordered over the period of time that we have been out of stock of the magnets...orders are filled and built in the order that they were received... There were HUGE flashing red letters on the website saying something to the extent of 30 DAYS OUT ON BTL ORDERS FREE COOLING DURING THIS TIME PERIOD... There's also a thing in the "Terms and Conditions" that you "read" (or supposed to) that says we try to stick to a 7 day build time...that doesn't always happen... Relax, we've got it under control. We don't have a phone because we actually build these things..there is no reboxing...there is no repacking..we BUILD them! It takes time...we cant spend 10 hours a day on the phone..then NO subs would get built
  8. -1 points
    Seems fine to me!
  9. I think next time I'll just get a blank black hat and have my mom embroider the Fi logo on it.. I just like to support and rep companies I like.
  10. I think you might not fully understand the abilities of viscoelastic coatings. In addition to reducing stucture borne noise, they also have a very good mass loading effect. The only issue with them is that a decoupler is not in place, so the results are not as good as a true barrier. These coatings however, will reduce more aiborne noise than constraint layer dampers (when applied at similar thicknesses) . As I stated in my previous post, the difference between the vinyl formulation and the coatings formulation is just a few small changes in resin type (an a couple small addatives) the cured elastomeric coatings are very similar to the vinyl barriers. Barriers however do not exhibit the same viscoelastic nature as the coatings do. Applying a coating on the hood is a great way to pick up extra surface area when you are trying to nail down the last few trouble spots. As you drive, the engine noise travels through your fireswall, in to the cabin. This is where most of the engine noise that we hear comes from. The rest comes either from under the car, or over the car. Some sound waves go through the hood, which then enter through our windshield and ceiling, or under the car through the floor pan. Anythin you put between the source of the noise, and your ears will, to some degree reduce noise. Some things are obviously better than others which is why using the most efficient product for the desired goals is always ideal. That being said, Spectrum is a very cabale vibration damper and to some degree (a larger degree than other products) will reduce airborne noise as well. There is simply no way around this ////M5 I konw you are going to chime in, and try to tear my logic apart. I know your motives. I am sure you want to help people on this forum. I have read your other threads, and though I do not always agree your negative tone and methods, I can appreciate your blunt honesty, and I do know that you know your shit. But please, if you are going to continue to follow me around this forum, and try to evoke a response by talking trash about me, even in threads that I am not posting in, I would encoureage you to stop. No only does it make me feel uncomfortable coming to this forum, ( a forum I am a vendor on) but I am sure you are driving away other members of this forum as well. Several have spoken to me about how you make them feel uncomfortable as well. Don't expect me to jump in to any further debate with you, as I already konw how it will end up. ANT
