  1. The voltage likely won't be significantly higher at idle than you currently have. The purpose of a high output alternator isn't to increase voltage at idle, but to limit voltage drop when under heavy load (and typically at non-idle RPM's) by having higher current output capabilities.
  2. mmmm...not really. The only way the big 3 will help with a stock alternator is if the ground wires/alternator wires are badly corroded or the insulation is cracked. Think...the stock alternator outputs 80A. What's the point of having 350A (1/0 cable) worth of current potential? It's like peeing in a ditch. Sure, it feels good, but there's no way you're going to fill it up. The stock big 3 wires are enough to handle all the current flow of a stock charging system. If they were not, they would have melted long ago You can't make more voltage using bigger wire unless, like I said, the wire is either compromised or too small.

  4. What size is your stock alternator? The language in this thread is pretty bad. Everybody please make sure and type in good sentences and with full words, that way everybody can understand what you are saying.
  5. this is just an example, not a recommendation of a product, but you could run 1 amps that make power at 1ohm (so 1 amp per sub). there are cheaper and better options then the link provided imo.

  7. Will do. I'm thinking about making some sort of frame around it and then bolt it to my car, but I'll check around to see what other people have done as well. My questions was actually how big difference it is between sealed and vented if you want to subs to hit hard at low frequencies. Because if a sealed enclosure could make the subs hit hard at 25-30hz, I would of course built it then a vented one. Cause I'm not looking to have a lot of sound pressure, my goal is a good sounding system with the ability to hit hard at low frequencies. Since I'm gonna use a 3200W rms amplifier I'll get some sound pressure either way. So I wasn't having that as a primary goal. I started this topic becuase I was afraid that if I made a sealed enclosure that it wouldn't play well on low frequencies. u should probably keep ur gains down, especially if going 10 cubes per sub...1600 watts is 600 more watts than what the subs are rated for...ur just asking to blow them to peices in that big of a box.
  8. what kind of car do you have but id think get a custom box made for the kickers imo kicker is better then hifonics 10's any day not to sure of the orions tho but you could just use one of the kickers in the trunk and sell the other one to help pay for the box
  9. yes big three will help without a HO alt but its not a replacement do the big 3 then see what your voltage is at. If its still bad then your gonna need to get a smaller amp or a bigger alternator.

    if u want quality ...stick with Fi ...but ...if u want to get louder than go with DD
  11. big 3 will help.....i was at 14.0v at idle and it would drop as low as 10v-9v...i did the big 3 and at full tilt idling at a stop light the lowest i get is 13.6v...and driving at normal speeds(40mph) i stay above 14.0 thats with stock alt and a cheap battery
