Best songs for xcon demo's
3 pointsThere's not a specific song for any specific woofer. There will be some songs that do better with some people's setups and some that do better with others. Your best bet would be to grab a few ideas from the Show off threads and try them out in your application.3 points

What happened to all the Xbl^2 mania??
That's not what happened. XBL^2 is Adire's (well, Dan's now) alone to use due to the patent they have on the technology. The reason Ascendant stopped using the technology was supposedly due to a comment Dan made on a forum that Chad didn't care for. Atleast I believe this was the public reason. I believe Chad even posted that as the reason on their website when they announced they were no longer going to be using the technology. Basically someone on SIN I believe asked why someone should buy an Adire driver over an AA driver if they both have XBL and the AA is cheaper. Dan said not all drivers are created equal and just because they have the same motor technology that doesn't make them the same driver. Chad claimed he took this as an insult and slam on his company/products and used it was the reason for dropping XBL. My guess would be AA was planning to drop the technology and found that as a good opportunity to jump ship. IIRC they had a new lineup out shortly thereafter It's still around. Just off hand the newer Stereo Integrity, Exodus Audio and CSS drivers utilize XBL^2. Adire went out of business and Dan I believe burned some bridges just before the collapse, so a lot of the "Adire supports" went by the wayside. Dan's lack of presence on most of the forums likely caused a decrease in talk about his drivers. And Adire did a lot of OEM work along with the forum presence which dissipated after Adire collapsed. So that killed some of the XBL^2 buzz as well. And then, of course, you have the simple fact that "boners" on the internet move in waves. You'll have a hot items or buzzwords tossed around for a year or two only to be forgotten and replaced by a new "boner". On top of it all, since XBL is patented you had (have) to pay Dan a license/royalty fee to use the technology which made it more expensive than a "free" topology to use, so some of the companies (like AA) that used the design opted to drop it in favor of something they didn't have to pay for. Some of this paragraph is speculation, some of it is just forum heresay......but it probably all had a hand in the reason XBL isn't talked about as much. Dan is still around and designing drivers; About ADI1 point

Best songs for xcon demo's
1 pointWell, to put it simply, you are creating clutter in the system. In other words, when someone types in to a search bar "SSA XCON" this thread will pop up and they will have to overlook it because this thread makes no sense. You've done it more than once. That's why moderators stress the rules so much, not to be arsehos, but to make the forum an easier place to learn and receive the help they are SEARCHING for, make sense?1 point

Two-way Active Front Stage
1 pointI just set the gains by ear With 6.5V preouts, my one amp is set to like 5V and I clipped it once during some "Jet City Woman" Personally, I don't believe in the "x gain = y watts"...you'll find out if the speakers are getting too much. That's in the practical sense...since gain matching is for the headunit. And that's assuming a) the gain pot is linear and 2) the markings on the amp are right. The given "frequency response" numbers from the maker are generally way off. My MBQs should get down to 20Hz if I believe the box Don't mean to add to the fire, only stating preference1 point

Best songs for xcon demo's
1 pointI think what you are looking for is a song that exploits your box tuning frequiency. use a term lab, (and test tones sweep), find your enclosure and your cabin peak frequency, let us know what those numbers are. You should find what you are looking for then. Other than that, It will only be guess work and what sounds bast to you.1 point

4 Fi Audio IB3 18's walled off 15Hz tune in a VAN BUILD LOG
One of the amps has a loose item floating inside, like a screw or something. I don't want to complain and send it back to have them crack the case and make sure it wasn't off of something and came out, I'd guess just dropped inside... but I don't want to void warranty and open it myself (if I even have a warranty). What should I do? This is what happened years ago with my first Lanzar OPTI2000D. Something was loose, but I hooked it to the Avalanche anyway. It worked fine. All a sudden it fried the sub then went to protect mode. It had a busted fan, overheated, shorted out, 12V DC to sub.1 point

xmax and deep bass
1 pointEh? Not really sure I'm following the question. Re is the DC Resistence (DCR) of the coil. This means the measurement isn't done at a "frequency" as it's measured with direct current rather than alternating current. Bl^2/Re describes the motor force factor. Using Bl alone to compare "motor strength" can be misleading because it ignores the current through the coil which will affect how much actual "force" the motor has. Essentially dividing by Re compensates for this as a higher Re will have less current through the coil. As Re increases the ratio of Bl^2/Re will decrease. This makes comparing the "actual" force of the motor between different drivers more of an apples-to-apples comparison. There really isn't a direct correlation between Fs and Bl^2/Re as they are defined by different parts of the subwoofer (Fs by the compliance and mass, Bl^2/Re by the motor and DCR of the coil). But the force of the motor at Fs will be at it's minimum (in free air) as impedance is at it's maximum which means there is the least amount of current through the coil.1 point

12" Warden T/S Specs
1 pointand just so its clear........I dont even know what those numbers would equate to when you plug them in a box building program, but please continue to follow our recommended enclosure sizes when it comes time to build your box1 point

Need Help With components and coaxils
CCX65 ? Are you looking at ID? I dont know what that is. Remember to include deadener and materials to seal up the doors in your budget. A great set of comps will not deliver unless you give them a solid install. Materials add up so keep that in mind. You can make a budget set of comps sound pretty damn good if you give them a good install. I suggest goign to a shop and listening to some sets. See what you like and dont like and narrow it down from there. you dont have ot buy them form there but it will give you a nice start towards picking out somehting you will like.1 point

Which One?!?!?!
1 pointYour questions is equivalent to asking "Ford or Chevy?" I don't know because I haven't a clue what you are actually comparing. Please read the N00b Posting Guidelines; Attention NOOBS!!!! - SSA Car Audio Forum1 point

Custom door panels for my GMC Sonoma!
Thats what I meant, type of comp. I love truck shows. I'm Going to Showfest 2010 and Scrapin the Coast 2010 this year. You decided to cut your back wall yet?? I think I know where a fiberglass bedcover is for that style truck.1 point

Any way to make Rock/Metal sound good with a subwoofer?
Think of it this way ... I have a teenager and a "almost" teenager (boys) ... You can imagine the rock stuff they listen to ... My "rock disc of choice" at shows is "The Way of The Fist" by "5 Finger Death Punch" ... Loud and Proud with no distortion ...1 point

Any way to make Rock/Metal sound good with a subwoofer?
I agree with M5 ... Get the front stage up to par, sometimes you'll forget you have subs in the back ... This is not an easy task depending on the vehicle ... good luck sir.1 point

1 pointWhat ever guys ... who cares ... I'll be competing this year ... Usaci Sound Quality, modified SQ+ class, Sound Q, and Street Beat 2 ... hope to see you in the lanes ... if you are competing in higher classes than me, then you already know your system is better than mine ... if you dont compete against me, then we will never know, will we ?? see you in the lanes ... put up or shut up !!1 point

8" in the doors.
1 pointthis thread was talkin about midbass drivers in the doors or kick pannels ... not spl subs ... I don't compete in SPL ... you wouldn't put a "sub" sytle driver in the door or kick pannel because of too much vibration and too much bass instead of a blend of music ... you just want to be "loud", do what you want ... You want pure Sound Quality ... then let's talk ...1 point

2 12s or 1 15
-1 pointsI'm sure it can handle more than that. my suggestion would be 1 15 bacause of the stronger motor for more pressure. Our SPL truck like that is tuned to about 54 to 57 htz. 2 15s in a Quarter wave wall does about 150 to 154db every time it goes on the meter with less than 1000 watts. (USACI 0 - 1000 watt modified class) ...-1 points
