  1. As 95Honda said, XBL has nothing to do with the number of magnets. XBL is "created" by notching the top plate and pole piece to create two independent gaps that the coil travels through. Dual Differential Drive (the technology in the WGti) according to the white paper you posted uses a single magnet with two plates (one above the magnet and one below the magnet) to create two gaps of opposing polarity. The two coils are then also reversed in polarity. It isn't different from a standard driver in that one of the coils "pushes" the driver forward while the other "pulls" it back, the operation here is pretty much the same as a standard driver with the motor responding to the signal (for both "push" and "pulling") and the suspension providing additional restoring force. In DDD since one coils is 180* out of phase and in a field of opposite magnet polarity, the motion through their respective gaps will be the same (forward or rearward) but the coils and B fields will be electrically out of phase with each other which means the motor-related distortion mechanisms will also be out of phase which will reduce the distortion (this also aids in reducing inductance; likewise the opposing polarity of the B fields creates an inherent self-shielding). There is also the ability to electromechanically "brake" the cone's motion. (Though the WGti doesn't use the "braking coil", I believe it's "brake" is one coil entering the B field which is in opposite polarity to it's own)
  2. finally got back up and running I have a couple builds to catch up on ...this one is for a pair of 12" Xcons 4.25cf3 tuned at 30hz
  3. Car is a 2006 nissan altima se-r It's a setup for my neighbor so nothing used(sorry guys) Electrical is already taken care of... i've done the big 3 and ordered 2 batts. He has absolutely no care in the world for sq and just wants an insanely loud setup. budget for sub(s) & amp are 1500 and there's 4 cubes net to work with.
  4. A lotta fail in this thread
  5. you buy them and ship em to me sorry were not all made out of money or atleast have our daddy pay for everthing some of us actually have to earn our own shit Wow. You get bent pretty easily, huh? I gave you a straight answer to a stupid f*ckin question and you start heading to left field. I pay for ALL my own shit. My dad passed away when I was seven, so a blanket statement like that is also quite ignorant. Any more brilliant topics you would like to discuss?
  6. Really will be install dependent but usually more cone area wins. + motor force My opinion is the 2 12s thats 24inches of cone area, you should move more air with them. BUT!!!!! THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION DEPENDS ON INSTALL! 25% equipment 70% install 5% beer EDIT: Nice username OP wow dude... did they have math at your school? no offence but those subs are round... area of a circle = pie x r^2 so 177 sq inches for the 15 and 2 12's have 226 total square inches of surface area...
  7. Buy them both and find out.
  8. How much money does he have? I can spend the hell out of other people's cash! Edit to add i cant read. $15oo, DOH!
  9. It's a monopoly, it's about damn time someone made a similar product to compete with the TL. The price of one is a freaking joke.
  10. Even in higher tuned enclosures this was still an issue. In the car audio world it is more practical to tune a bit higher and eq in some low end allowing for a better blending into your front stage. Andrew The inductive corner frequency of the Brahma Mk II, for example, is 262hz (2.8ohm Re, 1.7mH Le). The upper end response was not limited by the driver itself. And given we are dealing with subwoofers the driver would be operating well within it's piston range, so high end response would again not be effected by the driver itself due to issues such as cone size, shape and material like we may have in midbass and midranges. As 95Honda said; It was exaggerated low end not a lack of high end, unless there is some mechanism I'm missing that would have negatively affected the high end response.
  11. just goes to show they aren't trying to make money, they want what's best for the customer. if their product isn't what someone is looking for, they have backup arsenal with great service and products to boot! AKA (as you so greatly stated it) SSA= Best Community. i love this place!
  12. For some reason I thought you had a 4 channel that you were bridging a couple channels to for the sub, instead of a 5 channel. The crossovers on the amp for the mids and tweeters should be set to highpass around 80 hz or so (can play with this up or down). The passive crossovers that you got with the components likely have a highpass filter for the tweeters and a lowpass filter for the mids. However, the mids need to be bandpass filtered (lowpass at 3-4 khz in the crossover and highpass at 60-100 hz by another source, in this case the amp), so you'll need to use the highpass crossover on the amp to do that. Not sure what the amplifier gain setting on the head unit does. Why don't you tell us what the manual says for it? If you aren't hooking up any speakers to the rear channels of the amplifier, the gain and crossover settings don't matter. If you are using the subwoofer preout on the head unit, make sure to set the gain for the sub with that subwoofer level on the head unit all the way up.
  13. 1 point
I was thinking the same! They are a lowpoweredsoundqualityhighoutputeconomical driver!
  14. Your crossover switch for the sub channel should be on LPF, not HPF. Set the crossover at about 80 hz, but play around with it until the sub sounds the best. If your box is sealed, you can leave the subsonic either all the way down or turn it off if there is a switch for it. For the gain, just turn it up until the sub starts to distort at your maximum listening level on the head unit volume.
  15. BTL15 + SAZ-1500D = under 1000.00 SSA Shop - Sundown Audio SAZ-1500D amplifier Fi:
