  1. well, my subaru kicked the bucket and i went and bought a 2003 Ford Explorer with 61,000 miles on it this past sunday. Which means i get to un-install all the stuff from my subaru and re-install everything back into the explorer. This is what i have done so far... -headunit -2 amps -second batt -and of course subs and box and my dumbass forgot to take a lot of pictures., i dont know what it is but once i get to working i just forget completely about pis. i think the only 2 pics i got is when i had the dash out for the head unit and when mounting the fuse under the hood. but this is what i got still gotta mount the bass knob somewhere still gotta buy a new toggle switch for the e-brake wire man it was a B**** to hook the wires to the batt up under that seat.... hardly any room the box sounds a lot better in this car cause there a lot more room around the box for the sounds waves to get by my fiance wanting to drive my car for the first time so i figured a good video time.... my fiance explains how much vibrations thee were....hahaha vibrations still left to do it reinstall my door speakers which are alpine type r components.. maybe do some door pods in the future and some a pillars but i gotta figure out a way to do it b/c im planning on not having the car too long do i don't wanna have to do some fabrication that not needed so i can sell it. let me know what ya'll think..
  2. Seriously, I have read about people blowing their SSDs with 500 watts when I have put 1500 watts on the SSD daily without problems. Its all install and up to the user. If you have to ask how much power a sub can take, you shouldn't go over the rms rating.
  3. Shitcan the prefab and build your own box to Alpine ported specs and see how you like the output. I would hold off on buying anything more until your ready to put together the system you want.
  4. If it wasn't superior in every way then it would make no sense to make a new one and spend money on new forging's etc. It's better...in every way. Tons of more options...more ways to make things to suit you.
  5. sorry but, I will never agree with that logic. Why should he spend money to lose it? That's how car stereo works. Your going to lose money. Unless your very frugal and get amazing deals on everything you buy. Everytime you upgrade or change equipment you lose money, especially if you buy new. Maybe your happiness isn't worth $50. But mine is. If i can be happier for a small amount of money then I'm all for it. It just depends on how you look at it. I would do the same thing if I was him. It's the same reason I go spend money at strip clubs once a month. It's throwing money away. But I enjoy it. And at least he can resell the subs.
  6. If your gonna be stuck with the type e for a while. Then I say go for it. Buy another for $60 build a cheap box. And have decent bass untill you can step up. Then sell the two type e's for $100 to somebody on craigslist. Then your out what? Maybe $50? If it'll make you happy then don't listen to everybody else.
  7. Why waste money on another woofer? Just build a correct enclosure for the one you have. Alpine says the woofer should be in something no LARGER than 1.74^3ft if you have the 12" woofer and 1.25^3ft if you have the 10". Tune to 31-38hz.
  8. Well, unless you have to hop on a boat for an hour, hack through the jungle, get to a helipad and take off for a day-long journey out of the heart of the Amazon basin, the drive will probably be worth it. Listen to the speakers at the nearest shop, but don't feel compelled to buy them. If they are a name-brand and you like them, you can probably fine them cheaper on the good ole 'net.
  9. You would have to ask all of the former-owners of now defunct internet-based car audio businesses who proceed him A lot of them burned down in a blaze of ignorance and misdirection. Or you can ask Ben Milne how he's managed to lie and cheat for nearly a decade yet still remain in business. Oh, and not all forums are educated. Have you visited some of the others?.....
  10. Just precautionary anyways, no reason for a CB. Just use a fuse and if it blows FIX what caused it first.
  11. well, i was originally at SMD but they were of no help. literally no help, i got maybe 3-5 posts on my threads. Fi kept redirecting me here for the forum but i ignored it, i thought SMD would help, Sorry, then Anton Miller told me to come here and ask all of my questions and then BAM! i was instantly helped. So yeah, i was a lost cause who found Sanctuary in this place i call heaven.
  12. As noted in the PM I just sent, you could also consider 1.85 cu ft net volume per driver tuned to 28 Hz which will help flatten out the response just a bit and give you a little deeper extension. This is pretty much in line with oxsign's suggestion noted above. I personally wouldn't want a box tuned above 35 Hz on this driver either, as the response gets way too peaky. If you're shooting for a target peak SPL and a relatively narrow range, that's another story... but I don't think that's what you're going for here.
  13. My family used to own a cottage on Walloon Lake, but that was 20 years ago. (wow now I feel old....LOL) I've been meaning to take a trip up to fish Lake Erie but every time I plan it some weird crap always happens so I can't go... There's a thread for Slamology with links and stuff already on the forum, Slamology.....Central Indiana - SSA Car Audio Forum Hope to see ya there man! A few members from here are going as well. Adam Turner! WoW, What cave have you been hiding in???? Long time no here man! (call me this weekend!) Well let's go get this dang thing done and see what it looks like inside the truck! Fresh pics again tonight too....
  14. thank you sir... my old shit looked ratty and i wanted to make this one realllllllly nice..... i got lucky though when i ran the power from the front batt to the second batt under the car, there was a grommet right underneath the seat that the batt is under, then mounted the fuses on the back wall under the seat.(it will be a bitch to change then out the fuses if they ever blow but looks nice and hidden) ill take some pics of that tomorrow.
  15. Keep up the good work! thank for the great site!
  16. Recorded with my phone. Still dont have a comp hope yall enjoy!
  17. looks like you got a stout electrical bank for what power you will be running. Let me give you a tip when running that many batts. Before your initial use of a battery bank, get an AGM charger and charge each battery up completely. Once they are all connected, about once a week, just check the voltage of your battery bank before you start it up. If the voltage for those batteries are at 12.6-12.7v, u need to throw them back on a charger or you will be risking alt life. All it takes is for 1 battery to drain down lower than the rest for whatever reason and the whole group is suffering. I don't wanna see all that money get wasted so keep a tab on em.
  18. Now a clean picture, and one of the four batteries ill be using
  19. SSA goodies Thanks for everything Aaron and Mark!
  20. K, it sucks. but i got another one ill upload later. It's too long an i recorded em on the cell phone while it was snowin hard as shit outside lol..
  21. Was sunny, but still VERY cold. An weather is supposed to get bad tonight through friday. Its been nothing but rain/sleet for the past week or so. So for now just some new pics with the new phone (i know it's dirty ) Amp is laying on the back seat for now. Haven't had time to mess with it
  22. -1 points
Its funny it took someone else to talk to Navid and say the same thing I had been saying at first and now everyone wants a pair. Thats kinda fd up. I wonder why that is I guess I was a fuckin liar the whole time.
  23. i know...i understand there are many things that can change the answer....i would just like to know how far other fi bl owners have pushed them in what ever install they may have... so i have a greater overall unsterstanding of the sub and what it can do....when installed right....or wrong.....i myself am happy with the 140 db. im getting out of mine and would only take it past that if i had too....comp....out bump a JL...beat up my car...ect ect...
  24. this type of thing makes me feel like you have failed to understand what im asking...you can not judge a product based upon one man's install....as i have said i am more than happy with mine.....my goal was 140 db. i got there... game over for me....what i wanted to know...and what i asked is what the most the people of fi have seen run on a bl 12 IN THE BEST CONDITIONS MEANING NOT MINE...THE BEST....THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF WATTS AN ONWER HAS RAN>>>WITH NO PROBLEMS.........my install aside..and my questions about the crescendo audio has been answered very well.....this is not about that.... Obviously you dont understand because you keep asking the same question and people have given you the answer for three pages so far. It wont matter to you at all, it is to many factors to equate to worry about what someone ran on there subs. It will come down to goals, box size, listening habits (everybody's is different), electrical you have and so on. The way to tell what your subs can handle is to test them and let us know how they react on the Crescendo and if you want to know if they can handle more power in your application then go buy a bigger amp (which is not recommended). If your looking for more output then maybe you need to step up in woofer class as well and get you some BTL's.
