  1. heres a short video of my new set up. The sub is still extremely stiff and needs to get broken in but it still wangs pretty good. Its wired to 1 ohm and playing hypnotize my young jeezy. video really does the set up no justice though. i took it with my camera phone so you cant really see all of the excursion or hear how loud and clear this thing really is but i promised a video today so here it is. im off to work now so enjoy. feel free to leave comments good or bad. oh yea and you can see the spare tire because i pushed the box farther back in the trunk an the thing that was covering it moved back a little but i covered it up again haha so my trunk doesnt always look like that. this set up will only be in this car for a few months. it will be in an 07 ford fusion by the end of the summer.
  2. Ya I chose the wall location judging by the side door and a roof support...are you saying it's further back then I maybe should have done it? It's my first wall. The speakers up top are freakin AWESOME. I caught a lot of shit from a few SQ buddies of mine, but I think I can safely say I proved them wrong. It's not like a PA system in a grocierie store, in fact I think it sounds better up there...sounds like it's coming from strait ahead. There is a bit of flex, but for the output... it's well damped. Once I get it finished I may get into competing and replace the IB3's with 06' XXX 18's... if I tour, I could make it a point to detour for demos! Take the idea and run with it! It works great. I never understood the competative hush-hush secrecy if tips and tricks. IMHO, we should all share and help eachother out, not keep our ideas secret to win. where u at in this god forsaken state? I'd like to see your setup as well! I'm in Watertown! Straight north on I-29! I'll make my way up there one of these days.. you got a shop? You an RE/USAmps dealer or have one there? I think that's in Brookings tho...
  3. thanks guys ok i went outside and took some pics but theyre sh*tty because its dark and im using my camera phone. The flash was decent though so here ya go... More pics and vids will come tomorrow when i wire it to 1 ohm.
  4. I loved mine sealed. Very flat and plenty of output.
  5. 10*log(4500/3500) = 1.1db That's the maximum theoretical difference. Realistically that doesn't account for factors such as power compression, the ability of your electrical system, etc. Just factoring in power compression you are going to be looking at an increase of somewhere less than 1db. Audible difference? Nada. Difference on a meter? Probably, but only worth it if you are trying to chase down every last .1db If this is for a road warrior system with minimal competition time, probably not worth it. If louder to your ear is the goal, this upgrade likely won't get you there. Increasing power to increase output is the least efficient and least effective (and normally most expensive) method of accomplishing that goal. If you want to increase output, look at improving your enclosure first and foremost. It's the easiest, cheapest and most effective method.
  6. Yesterday's video, this time with day light. Subs are still hardly moving with this much power, the camera does no justice though, this thing is soooo low!
  7. Now available in the Store. SSA Merchandise - SSA STORE
  8. Large (7" x 21") $20 shipped Colors: Red, Blue, Black/Silver Medium (4" 12") $15 shipped Colors: Red, Blue, Black/Silver Small (3" x 9") $8 shipped Colors: Red, Black/Silver Sorry about the shipping guys, these are to large for envelopes, and need USPS priority. Installed Small Black Sticker. I will get these up on the shop as soon as I have time today! Hope you all like, IMO these are best stickers we've had yet!
  9. The issue with ported boxes is that they exaggerate the lowend (30-50 hz) that the upper spectrum (60-80 hz) often appears very weak. What helps this situation is being able to apply more power during the rock songs to compensate. I'd suggest tuning a ported box to 35 hz and getting an amplifier with a remote gain knob. Then, set the gain on the amp with rock songs. This will likely cause you to turn the gain a little higher than if you were setting it with a rap song, so you'll have to realize that when you do play rap, you'll have to adjust the remote gain a little lower. Normally ported boxes have an xmax high about 10 hz above tuning, then slope down after that. So you just aren't getting the excursion at 70 hz that you will be at 40 hz with the rap songs, so a little extra power will boost it (but remember to stay within the thermal limits of the sub).
  10. hey IAK, we won a trophy!!!! Samantha scored a first place win in her division of bass race..... 119.9 class. she earned IAK our first trophy with a very small system and a very big sense of competiveness! to top that off, and alot more important, she and paul both got thier graduation diplomas this week! 11. Got the amp design roughed out. Test fitted most of the components and the enclosures. May make some changes, but for the most part we think this is it. By sefugi at 2010-06-20 The bottom plate is to clean up the area below the amp rack itself and we will have a few neon tubes mounted on it glowing below the amp rack. By sefugi at 2010-06-20 Was difficult getting the correct clearance we needed so we could keep the strut bar in the rear. By sefugi at 2010-06-20 These pics are minus 1-4channel amp that is coming soon. By sefugi at 2010-06-20 By sefugi at 2010-06-20 By sefugi at 2010-06-20 By sefugi at 2010-06-20 One last shot of the layout through the hatch glass. By sefugi at 2010-06-20 Now that this is completed we can move on to painting.

There are many more important things to consider than sensitivity. The change in relative output could simply be a difference in frequency response and wholly unrelated to the sensitivity. It's also important to consider how the sensitivity was rated as there are many things that can be done that makes two different "rated" sensitivities not directly comparable. I would look for performance within the intended bandwidth, distortion performance, how the T/S fit with your intended use, etc long before I considered sensitivity. As for drivers, what is your budget?
  13. buying stuff from a store like jl rockford kicker alpine u get charged for theyre advertising which is big money. there is a shit ton of mark up but they dont like to give discounts because thats were the salesman get paid. if u bought like a sundown sa 12 or ascendant arsenal or chaos or a fi ssd, ur goin to them. theres no saleman and no advertising so u get a better product for less money or maybe the same. example a jl 12w3 sells for anywhere from 200-280. fi sells a ssd 12 for 170 and will play much louder and sound just as good if not better. imo check into one of those subs and u'l bee much happier. i changed from 4 12w3v3s and a jl 1000/1 with a jl 450/4 to sundown and ascendant products and now the largest jl dealer in the country is looking into picking up both products. SUNDOWN...FTW and i dont have a 3 letter catch phrase for aa
  14. for cars with folding seats, which is best? There is no standard "best" all application, box size, location, and car dependent. If there were a "best" there would be no need for competitions.
