  1. Here's a vid of me doing the cuts for my girlfriends sealed box for her 10" Dcon. We're doing a ported one next week and seeing which one suits her best. Both boxes built to SSA's optimal specs. Her dad owns a shop with TONS of machinery and this happens to be one.. and he's giving me access to it all whenever I want.. so I'm starting my box-making experiences with the best of the best Enjoy the vid! I'll be posting more pictures/vids of the build later on as things progress. I'm currently in high-school and working 30+ hours a week so I'm limited on time.. but I'm doing as much as I can when I can. ANYWAY . . . Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kH5VrvpdhI
  2. Almost there Got them trimmed down and the mounting holes opened up and sanded down. I haven't started working on finishing off the appearance yet.....that's a next spring goal. Right now my aim is just to get them in the vehicle and playing before winter. Supposed to be 60* tomorrow, hopefully it will stay light and warm enough I can get them finished off and installed this week. Still need to add some treatments to the interior of the kickpanel, drill mounting holes, run speaker wire and then wire everything up. So I've got a few more hours of work before they start singing.......
  3. Sure, use a really small box. Don't get mad if it's peaky as hell. I bet you could run more in a burp scenario. Is this a burp scenario? I'm assuming not. Perhaps you should do what the manufacturer suggests... Sure running an extra couple hundred watts is fine, even a bit more depending on if you know your shit, but then you wouldn't be asking... But trying to run double the rated rms and not knowing what your doing, just plain dumb.
  4. some older vids i forgot to throw in. and one of the old system.
  5. IB3 is Infinite Baffle, best for sq, not for your goals. Running 1000watts either way is going to need new wire, 4gauge isn't enough unless your only running it ~10ft. To me it seems your rushing, you want something loud but can only spend xxx. You already have a nice amp, take full advantage of it and use drivers that take full advantage of the power. Your gonna need to replace that 4gauge, and probably gonna need another battery for the amp. The only reason I'm suggesting you go bigger and spend more is, you have a big amp, if you didn't intend in using all it's power at some point then your probably would have bought a smaller amp. So instead of doing a small build and then redoing everything in six months, I say wait til you can do it all at once, it'll be cheaper in the end. Just my two cents
  6. Crap, poop & shit. Will be loud but don't solve your issues. Doesn't carry crap like he listed above Perhaps your idea of 'look' isn't so good to use as a reference Then why the hell are you looking at bullet tweeters that don't even play in the vocal range where people sing? All of the ones you linked cannot play low enough to help your problem. If you really "only" just want to hear the words you need a pro audio mid not some stupid high frequency shrill bullet. Horns WILL play low enough, bullet tweets won't. Completely terrible use for this application. The Florida idiots that are all using them have no idea what the hell they are doing so stop paying attention to them. This is exactly why we always ask for direction and information in a thread that is specific and NOT subjective. Until now you never even said it was to hear words. Then you get all these wanna be loud thinking they know something about stereo kiddo's reading your thread and pointing out TERRIBLE solutions for what is your actual problem. The vocal range of the human is severely limited and doesn't go at all into super tweeter realm. Sure harmonics and other information are passed to them, but since you care not about staging and imaging those cues aren't at all necessary for your setup. And your first thought, the SEAS would be even worse. They could start to play in the vocal range but nowhere near the levels that you request. Do yourself a favor, either really state your goals or actually do some research on what your problem is. It would greatly help us give you a solution. One thing for sure though, if it truly is words, then everything that has been recommended in this thread outside of horns/CD-1's is completely useless for what you need and even they will need help in the lower vocal range.
