On top of that better is rather subjective so don't expect to garner any information from the responses...I would also suspect that the great >95% of the people who have used them have only tried one alignment meaning you'll get responses of what they did without comparing. Pretty simple choice though. If you want more output, port and if you want everything to integrate easier (ie more forgiving in the install) and extra output isn't your need then go sealed.

My opinion would be to go sealed then. Sounds like you want a strong midbass as well. If you want a decent output from 20-200hz I wouldnt even consider a ported setup. Thats a huge range.
  5. I'd hit that...repeatedly
  6. Going to disagree with that. When I have time or when Scott has time we'll make a graph with what we found. Power is power..but what isn't being considered is your time value of a 'square' or 'clipped' wave over the cycle period. You are at the extremes of the wave form MUCH longer which induces a significant amount of more heat to build up...which..kills the sub. Seen there...and below in the following 3 images. Yes the 'power' is 'power' and 'watts' is 'watts'...but you are not considering it over a given period of time where the coil is literally standing still burning and then immediately slamming in reverse and standing there and burning until it gets slammed forward by the fets. It is like trying to change gears without pushing in the clutch while traveling 70mph forward and 70mph rearword. Clipping...induces a SHIT ton more heat over this period of time..the heat and the coil bouncing off of the switching frequency of the output transistors..causes it to melt.

  8. two 15" Xcons would be MUCH better..... personally I think for 15" Xcons would rip all the spot welds loose on the body of that poor car....LOL my Windstar is a rattling peice of shit after the Quad Xcon experience
  9. Heres a few pictures of the new mayhems. they are beautiful http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/yy268/Stuart_Goodenough/DSC00225.jpg
  10. Yeah, I know my ears do, thats why I got it close with RTA and tweaked by ear. My hearing falls off below 30 or so thanks to a system I had some time ago. But even knowing that, 25 hz was RETARDED louder. I still set my stuff up for 20 hz because others can hear it, when I can't at all. But in my check watching a few things, it never saw 20 hz. you said 4dB, 4dB isn't RETARDED louder, it's a louder but not RETARDED louder. And M5 reread page 6, where you even commented and stated he should try for 150dB at 5hz. (I'm not defending the guy, because i don't know him, i'm just stating facts.)

subs play sub bass. if you want more midbass, get mid bass drivers. and you don't want sound quality. get another sub besides the Q. I'd go down to a 12 or two 10s as well so you can still go ported.
