  1. GTG Date: Saturday 6/4/11 6 pm or so. As some of you know, my daughter required some extra attention after she was born and we ended up staying in the hospital for 3 weeks with her. While we were there, we were treated so well and regularly given little gifts to make the circumstances a little brighter. I have wanted to do something to give back in some way for all that was done for my little girl ever since, so here is what I came up with. I want to use my business to try to help raise awareness and collect items to help support child safety around water. Although it is not directly related to what my daughter went through, it is most certainly needed and it may help keep some other guys baby out of a hospital bed. I have spoken with the Drowning Coalition, AZ Fish & Game and Mesa FD and I have a few ideas on how to execute this. The main drive will be through my shop where I will offer a discount on services/products for anybody who brings in a lifejacket. I would also like to do an event at a lake where I could bring a boat with a nice audio system to help promote marine audio and offer to take other boaters extra jackets (cuz I know they have em) off their hands in exchange for some kind of discount. The last part is where you guys come in. Some of you may recall that we had a little GTG at my shop in January to talk SQ and basically hang out. We talked about doing it more often, but Jan, Feb and March were ridiculously busy for my business and I simply did not have the time. Well, I have been talking to Don Gibson about it for the past few weeks and we would like to do another get together, ideally on 6/4 AFTER SUNDOWN, or atleast close to it. This will be a place where you guys can come hang out, talk gear, sound, setups and all that. Plus, we will be raffling off a set of Phass tweeters, donated by Don and a compete sound system donated by Handcrafted Car Audio and Arc Audio. The proceeds would go to support the safety around water campaign. We are talking about having a tuning seminar, where myself and maybe a guest would go over tuning techniques, gain structure and all that. There would be food, maybe drinks, and manufacturer demos. The best part, is that you can attend and have your fill of all of this for the cost of a life jacket! Going forward, I plan to do more of these shows as the summer months stretch on. Once swimming season is over, I plan to do a big show/gtg to promote the Eller Congenital Heart Defect center as that would allow me to give back directly to those that helped my family. So, what do you guys think? Will you all rally up and support me on this?
  2. Just got off the phone with XS, your batteries are on the shipping palet, going out today. I will have your tracking by end of day I was told. Sorry for the wait.
  3. Bro lemme put it like this. You and I get a speeding tickets, both for 78 in a 65. You aregued and bitched to the cop cause u were running late and treated him like shit. I was polite and just waited, knowing full well what a PITA this was going to be. We both fight the ticket. The judge gets a deposition on both of ours. Yours says you acted like a fucking child and never even owned up to speeding, nor did you apologize. Mine says I admitted I was not following my speed, and I am sorry for allowing myself to speed. Now which ticket do you think the judge is more likely to allow to be reduced? Prolly not yours. Same concept man. Sometimes people get a fucked up deal and get really taken care of. Above and beyond anything they could of expected or even asked for. Other times people get fucked WAY worse, and they are lucky to get an apology. Its life man. Learn to deal with it now, or expect a VERY dissapointing adulthood. J

  5. While it's true that the impedance will rise very high in impedance on the graph, it's not necessarily true that there will be a dip in response as the point(s) where this occurs. As correctly explained, the impedance graph is simply a representation of the driver's impedance across the frequencies. A few things can be found out from an impedance graph. This is a quick but not comprehensive list of some of the things an impedance graph can tell us. First, there will be a large peak in the impedance. This big peak defines the resonant frequency (Fs) of the driver. If impedance spikes at 25hz, then the Fs of the driver is 25hz. The impedance at Fs (25hz in our example) may spike up to 30ohm or more. This very high impedance at Fs means the amplifier's output will drop substantially. So why is there not a huge drop in output at that frequency? Pretty simple, the driver doesn't need as much power at Fs as it does elsewhere. The driver will naturally resonate at Fs, so it doesn't take much power to get it going. The shape of this large impedance peak will be determined by the Q of the driver (Q describes the various damping characteristics of the loudspeaker at resonance). If you were so inclined, you could calculate the Qms, Qes and Qts from the impedance graph. More specifically, you can calculate the various Q parameters from the size and shape of the impedance peak at Fs. Minimum impedance is also shown on the impedance graph and is important to know, especially in situations where amplifiers can not handle low impedance loads. For example, in home audio a lot of amplifiers (especially those in receivers) may not be able to handle loads below 4ohm or 8ohm. So if the minimum impedance of the driver drops too low during a critical range, it may be a load too difficult for the amplifier to handle. Another thing to look for, which is less applicable to subwoofers and more towards higher frequency related drivers, are ripples in the impedance away from the big spike at Fs. If there are ripples in the impedance that indicates there are some type of resonance issues with the driver at the frequency where those ripples occur. A common issue, for example, would be cone breakup. Cone break up can create a small ripple in the impedance graph. Also the impedance graph will indicate the inductance of the voice coil. The inductance limits the high frequency response of the driver. As frequency increases above Fs the impedance will be relatively flat for a while, and then gradually start to rise. What frequency the impedance begins to rise and how quickly it rises are determined by the inductance of the voice coil. If you pick some points off of the impedance graph, you can go back and calculate the inductance of the voice coil. This is a situation (unlike Fs) where rising impedance will cause the response of the driver to begin to fall. This is because the inductance limits the ability of the driver to react to changes in current, so the driver can't adequately respond to the signal at those higher frequencies....so the response will begin to drop off. You can also tell some other things from an impedance graph of the loudspeaker in an enclosure. For example, you can determine the tuning frequency of a ported enclosure from the impedance graph. Resonance issues in the enclosure can show up in an impedance graph. You can apply a lot of the same analysis to describe the behavior of a loudspeaker in a sealed enclosure as you can to the driver in free air. Etc Etc. So, overall there are a lot of information in that impedance graph. Most of it isn't extremely relevant to the weekend warrior, however.
  6. Also, Rob Clay needs to make versions of all of these as well... I would get bored posting the same banner on every forum... I'll be reppin' that SSA as much as possible.... Can't wait to get this Xcon all hooked up....
  7. here's a few I whipped up for you guys... 8. BS Eric... You were told exactly what was going on time after time, and when I finally gave you an exact date it would be done, guess what? It was done.. You just pitched a fit the day before, demanded a refund and I GAVE someone else the alt I built for you. Shitty thing is man I bent over BACKWARDS to get that done for you too because of how things went down and how bad you needed it. Too bad for you though man, the XP's for the Hyundai's turned out pretty freaking SICK. You could have had your alt and would have absolutely loved it too... Get over it and move on bro... I don't care how good your alts may be, or how bad your suppliers have stiffed you with delays. You act like a complete douche to customers on the internet forums. This is not the first time I've seen you spout off with smart-ass comments towards a customer on here. It actually seems to be a pretty common reaction from you when a customer says something you don't like. I'm not arguing that you don't have a right to respectfully defend your company. But for fuck's sake, handle it with a little dignity. There's a right way and a wrong way to handle a situation, it seems more often than not you chose the latter. There's always two sides to a story.....but given the way you conduct yourself on here, I'm not surprised by all of the negative things said about the CS from your company given you can't even remotely conduct yourself in a professional manor when interacting with customers here on the forum. Proving a customer wrong isn't winning. DC isn't the first company in history to have supplier issues and unhappy customers.....however a shit load of those other companies are capable of handling the situation with far more dignity, professionalism and respect.
  9. Rob, if your suppliers can't keep you stocked with parts, the customer is still waiting on you, not your supplier. You should notify customers of this on your website. Pure and simple. We have seen several instances now where customers are being told one thing time after time, and then one day it's the exact opposite. Now, we don't know all the facts or instances, but there is a trend happening here. For some reason it always take yourself to straighten everything out. Apparently there is a lack of or mis-communication with your associates. You guys seem to have a very good product, I just hope the CS can catch up and does not ruin your reputation.
