I am pretty upfront about everything, as with most every aspect of my life, if there is someone else substantially better at or with superior knowledge and expertise, I will go to them and learn from them. There is a good deal of work on both sides of the equation, and numerous meetings (both in person and over the phone) when working together on a new model. Mark and I don't pretend to be all knowing in the world of driver design, but we know our drivers.

I rather let two guys with well over 10 years of designing and building speakers/subs, than a company who release info every week about updating their design but doesn't actually touch the sub. SSA's buildhouse can actually design a speaKer, go out to the machine shop and build a prototype. Then can test it fairly quickly and see what needs to be changed. With other companies, they design the speaker on a computer, then has to wait a few months to receive a proto. So they end up talking instead of testing. Your arguments are pointless, and your just trying to find any reason to talk shit.

I have no problem voicing my opinion whether it is liked or not. I own a SSA product. Unless I see some product design testing (by SSA) and specs it will be the last. MY OPINION -1 if you like. LOL, only -1 I see is mine from someone who is apparently very butthurt. Do you need a hug? That is a lame response Lance. If you are going to rep SSA and be part of Team SSA I would think you should respond with a little more intelligence and dignity. BTW tell us how many deebeez (4) 18" ZCON and +12,000wrms produces. Should be high 150's ATLEAST imo. How do you know how well it should meter? Lance didn't build something that just gets loud in a certain spot, just to impress people on a internet forum. People lose sight of that, Lance built his to listen to it. Period. All I gotta say is your a straight up hater. You think you know something, but you really don't. You down SSA but working with two of the best in this industry to help them design a sub, instead of doing it souly alone. I see this as a positive. I much rather have a sub designed by people who know what they are doing, than a random person who wants to have there own company. Or a company who just copies other outdated subs, then sells them for a great deal more than the originals. And why do you need proof for testing? Since when does companies give you the behind the scene of any testing? I don't know many, or any at all. Just because they didn't post pictures of previews drivers, doesn't mean they don't exist. I find it better not to release protos that might not have a chance to make it to productions. Simply because, you don't have to worry about hyping and not delivering. But at the end of the day, a hater will find any reason to hate. Even if they don't make any sense.
  4. So my buddy got a great deal on some Diamond Audio D6 15's . He ditched the Sa-12's and this is what we did. For the amount of power they are getting they absolutely slam.

You honestly believe every company designs their woofer? You'd be quite surprised... Fi oems a lot of other companies woofers too. Back on topic Can't wait to hear some details!

Someone mentioned the fact of different styles of running a brand. Much of how we do things is based largely on the size of our brand. We are not moving thousands or even hundreds of sub woofers, not even close. We are a boutique brand, in that our drivers are built to order here in the USA. In product development, we are pretty slow, and spend more time with the design/prototypes before releasing them then most. This is because we built for long life cycles of our products. The Icon has been holding strong for a long time with only subtle changes and updates since 2007. It is now going through its first major design change.
  7. Right now for the month of May, Argent Audio has a good price on sound deadener, check it out.

eDUB, why not be a bit more positive with your posts? no matter the opinion, you can post them in a more intelligent manor that is less offensive....calling somebody a fanboy is a joke at best, you're over on the sundown forum praising them, cause what? u got to see some t/s specs....wow...jacob runs his company a bit differently, thats all. i like both....ill run whatever my ears enjoy...i plan on owning a sundown sub someday to compare with the xcon 18 ill be installing here shortly. but this crap is pointless and should stop, i dont enjoy calling anyone out but come on man. either be more polite about stuff or just stay out of it.
  9. hey no worries man! any time I can help out no problem! it is funny though how it was almost 3db differences from the TL vs the Makeitlouder meter. because when I was using it was always +/- 0.75db on average versus a TL my buddy has. but I blame your DMM lol! o well what was the TL score when the meter was on the window sealed up and one window down? do you remember off hand? also was the headrest the loudest point in your car hence why you put it on the headrest? also if anyone else would like to borrow the make it louder meter just drop me a PM and we can work something out. especially now since it is in the states and shipping shouldn't be an issue! but hey stefam you got the meter for as long as you want and if you make a change to your setup you can see it on this meter but I guess you can subtract a good 2db's from that score lol! actually if you want you can re-cal that meter on your pc for me! Not sure how to calibrate it And my dmm certainly isn't fancy, but I figured if it's reading a constant voltage then it's probably working Perhaps because we're at different altitudes and climates? All TL runs were with driver window down and and mic at passenger headrest, but I did my testing vice versa, I probably shouldn't have switched lol. Meca runs are all at the headrest, but since I didn't have a meca stand or anything, I just stuck the mic on the windshield. Only problem about trying to subtract 2dbs from the score is, db levels are logarithmic not linear. I have a couple people this week that would like to get metered, and I probably won't have my alt in for a few months or so, so next week I'll ship the meter out (just let me know if I'm shipping it back to you or someone else) Thanks
  10. Hell I would help out with the ticket cost for that!

  12. The most affordable route is to purchase the correct products for meeting your goals, and only the necessary amount of those products to help you achieve those goals. Without knowing what you are doing, it's hard to suggest one product or "kit" over another. Give us some idea of your budget and objectives and we can help you select the best products and methods for achieving those goals. Otherwise it might end up being a waste of money no matter what product we recommend as it might not be the most effective method of achieving what you are trying to achieve. If I were to recommend you to a company, it would be to contact Don @ SoundDeadenerShowdown. He is extremely helpful and can recommend the best method of achieving your goals within your budget. To top it off he offers some of the best products in the industry.

Get over it. You were trolling and you know it man. I have no personal issue with you and I think/hope you know that, but I will call it like I see it. Ask anyone who has sat in my truck if it's loud. That was my goal what people thought when they are it in, not TL numbers. I have no desire to play test tones for 5 seconds. Yawn. I want to play low and loud. Highest to date is 53.9 @ 36hz sealed up on windshield playing music. Could be better clearly, but that's not the subs fault or SSA's fault, just my own problems right now unfortunately. Once I correct the voltage fluctuation issues I have and can hold anything remotely resembling steady, I think it will make a move on up there closer to my goal. Hell, I actually went down over a DB when I added 2 more alts, so there is lots of room for improvement. lol Just one of those strange deals that's kicking my ass right now. My goal is to play loud and low on music that sounds really damn good with a 154/55 average for 30 seconds sealed up. I will always have a set up that plays good music first and gets loud second, so you wont ever see huge numbers from me or any of my set ups. If you want to see higher numbers look at the other two guys running these subs and burping off test tones, That should tell you what they can do if that's your goal. As for my personal goal, I will get there soon enough with what I have now and some time. Hell there are plenty of set ups SSA and others that can get stupid loud, I want to be different and sound excellent doing so. That's me and I am okay with that. As for specs, I would like to see TS specs too so I can test out new boxes, but I cant get SSA to share those with me either. I will get them when they are good and ready for me to see them, but crying like a little girl about things you have no control over proves what exactly?? Nothing, other than that little girl part. It's SSA's project and it's their company so you get info when they want you to have it. One of the perks of being the owner. I am ok with that personally as at least when SSA gives out info, you know it came from an excellent source with proper equipment to test.

I have no problem voicing my opinion whether it is liked or not. I own a SSA product. Unless I see some product design testing (by SSA) and specs it will be the last. MY OPINION -1 if you like. I guess you missed some of the info in the past. Anyway, the "Zcon" model line has been in the works on and off for a few years, but only recently did it get a name. There have been more then a few different big power prototypes that we tested and did not move forward with. We even flirted with a 4" coil, but did not go that direction. A couple of years ago, we had started to go with a massive triple stack driver. The output on that model was just bonkers, way more then any of our other models, but it did not have the clarity we require from our production sub woofers. Had a number of samples built up, there are a few videos on our channel with these installed, I believe the most viewed one is of John's green blazer. Over time, things got moved around, and other models were released first. A couple more prototypes went through Mark's truck, most recently the one with the two massive aero-ports. We do plenty of testing, Mark usually films his, I don't. The testing Mark does is more video friendly then my critical listening testing. As the Zcon model design is finally set, that is why we had a handful go out initially before they were actually for sale to the public. Knowing we could not send them out on the market just yet due to steel supplies, it was good to get a few out there in Team members vehicles and let them do some extended abuse testing in a number of different installs and power.

Damn EDub, Wash the sand out your Va-jayjay Bro.
  18. Alpine mrp-1000 puts out 1000 @ 2ohm. But just because you have a sub that can take 1000 watts, doesn't mean it has to be. Keep your electrical in mind. You'd be wasting money on a capacitor. Do the big 3 and get a better battery up front. SSA is having a 15% off all XS power batteries in the store plus shipping is 24.99 flat on all batteries. Go as big as you can on the battery up front.

  21. That's not wasted space when it comes to going to the grocery store. Think my son and his buddies have raised my neighbor's temper a bit, not to mention the open headers on that 454 in Grasshopper's ride. I always try to respect my neighbors, but sometimes their too anal or don't have a life. We do as well, just to many projects been going on and the neighbor is a little older. Over the weekend I think my son has it all smoothed over. My son went over and offerd to help the neighbor wash his motorhome. Talked with him a while and it's all good. Well done. Give a little, take a little works quite well Yep, and I didn't even know about it till that night. He's a great kid, proud to call him my son!
