2001 Chevy Astro....Custom Install!
3 pointsWith positive comments like that being rare on this forum, I am most happy to oblidge. Bygones be bygones. I knew something was not right. With theory of double cone area adding 3dB, I should be able to remove 2 of my subs and get 145-ish, and with that doubling airspace to the 2 subs, I could almost remove the AP3kW amps and do it with the 2 850.4s. When I was told "hey krypt, about that alt, want my address" I kindly said "lets see some proof". I was not shown proof, so I called him out again, nicely, and again, nicely... then it's more "I won!" videos that if you look close actually disproved. If he would have said "hehehe, hey krypto, I messed up!" I would have said "Hey RamRod, it's all good man! Your shit is still awesome, I still love it man! LOL!" But I was ignored, more disproving "I won" vids irked me more.... so i got a little more and more confrontational. RamRod, I apologize. I just wanted to get to the bottom, I felt I was being ignored, snubbed, and "I won" rubbed in my face. Won against who? Lots of other people with setups nothing like yours and mine? Glad we got it figured out. And I sincerely am impressed. No bracing, no wall, 2 subs, yet still only 3dB down from mine built like a tank. Good job, and I mean it. On another note, I have loved watching my terrible rep rating... I know I am no top dog, I am nothing really, but i know my stuff enough to know I do not deserve a rep like that. ....my goal is different, yes, so when i am running a turtle race.... all these sprinters give me the Campaign . My rep just dropped from 6 to 4. If some of you would be so kind as to give me more negative ratings, you'd make my day. i am KW. You made me, I am the obomination, and I am learning to like it3 points

1 pointuhh Yeah they do.... You expect the dealer to not make any money off of em? I know dealer cost, and MAP. Which nobody is suppose to sell under MAP, but internet reps seem to do whatever and undercut the dealers, just to make 30 dollars. Humm, that sounds REALLY familiar. "I got you bro"1 point

Damn it man, I apparently have not paid your build a visit in a while. You have been quite busy. I went through a lot of the same stuff you did with yours. You can read and read, but the reality is you have to do it yourself and learn from what you did right and wrong. I LOVE the idea of porting your pods. I was going to do mine with Aperiodic Membrane, but turned chicken shit and just vented in to the door. Yes, you can use non hardening clay (Hobby Lobby) and I would suggest it. It will add mass and deaden the pod considerably. The best advice I can give you, is make it as smooth as possible in the building stages because sanding bondo and filler is a PITA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Think trying to shape a brick and there you go. That is going to be sexy as hell when your done. I see how picky you are and the quality of your work is outstanding. I am sure that these will be excellent when your done. Good luck buddy. Tuned in to this again.1 point

I personally have not used the non-hardening modeling clay, but have seen it used by people I respect, with good result's.1 point

Looking good Homie! You can also use modeling clay as a dampener and volume displacer, cheap and effective.1 point

Thank you for asking I sold my DSLR last week and my new camera is on back order As of right now I didnt take recent pics of the pod since I am cameraless I hate cell phone pics I did do some 'glassing on the outside of the pod (2-3 layers) along with some trimming and sanding. I have 95% of the shape complete. I just have to go through and sand down high spots and fill in low spots. After the pod is complete dimension wise I am going to lay down some DamplifierPro on the inside and fill with a medium to get a volume measurement. Then starts the vinyl. I will take some crappy cell phone pics tonight Hopefully the passenger side pod goes much faster!! Next up kicks I did take some crappy cell phone pics of my Zed RA that was delivered last week Sorry for the chitty pics!!!1 point

well I know how hard it is to get high 40's below 30Hz, I didn't get too much props for doing it myself, but that dont mean I wont give it to you... thats why I've followed your build from the get go. My buddy Jeff is really big into asthetics...he loves to draw, he can take thin paint tape and chit chat while putting flames on a car in an hour well enough for them to go get it painted....he always threatens to steal the gold and red spray paint and come sand it, paint match, and even do my dash for me. I tell him thanks, but it's just not me If people follow "the attack" they should see from the beginning me giving props, me joking with you about the alt, then me noticing something wasn't right. Not trying to offend here: But if I was the mean guy catching someone who was the good guy thinking they were 11dB louder... under SSA rules that get shoved in my face that it's better to be a mean guy who knows better than a nice guy that is wrong and misleading other members...then I should have the good rep cuz I was the mean guy who knew something was wrong. I screw up all the time, not throwing rocks in a glass house... I like my bad rep1 point

Oh man what to do...
1 pointNo that is only the sensitivity of the sub with only one watt. That measurement is not an indicator of how loud the sub will get. What determines how loud a sub will be is it's excursion along with the force(bl) applied to that movement. For example a zcon is louder than an xcon even though it has less xmax. Because is has more force over it's stroke.1 point

well, even though i am not there but have a say in it since i do sell these meters.. There was a flaw.... The firmware being used on the meter was actually set wrong. I am not here to embarass anybody but point made is previous accusations of past scores were wrong, let's leave it at that. Point being... we as fellow car audio enthusiasts who especially compete do and will not tune as low as u kryptonitewhite, so the scores presented by teamramrod or anybody else in the future will typically not compete wth your setups. Your setups are obviously to help you learn and others together. Your scores are remarkable but unfortunately, car audio competitiveness is at a different level altogether. This whole debate is a nuisance and hopefully this post resolves it.1 point

1 pointTHANK YOU.... i was blown away by how many people SPOKE before they even asked a SINGLE QUESTIONS that MATTERS> my lord... im seeing more and more people are getting away from the TRUTH on this site. x2, especially from some people who never even hit higher than a 145db on a TL meter. OP it is gonna take more than some guessing on equipment to get a 150's on music. Give more information on vehicle and electrical specifics for a good start to getting you on your way to your goal.1 point

Seeking some AMP advice
1 point1/2 ohm is just a bad all around idea... You loose efficiency, lose dampening, loose sound quality and lessen parts life. Build an efficient box and run a nominal 2 ohm load with those subs... Your wallet and ears will thank you in the long run... Also, unless you can't get the power needed out of single amp, strapping (bridging) 2 amplifiers is the worst option. You again loose efficiency, dampening and sound quality.1 point

1 pointhttp://www.evercoat.com/productDetail.aspx?pID=269 http://www.evercoat.com/productDetail.aspx?pID=303 These two products will help you on your next plastic adventure. The first can be used as a heavier lay-up and the second to do the finer finishing. They will help keep the seams you see around the inserted piece. Never use "bondo" on plastic as they have different expansion rates and will eventually seperate.1 point

1 pointGot the enclosure covered over the last 2 evenings. Here are some pics... Bottom of the box, seam turned out fairly well. Grasshopper was like, "Who's gonna see that?" I said "Me!" You can see in this pic the feet/extension that I added to accomodate the wiring that will run under the enclosure to the amp. Gotta make it all look pretty. Wiring up the subs to install them. Used some 12ga wire. You should also be able to see that I used some 1/2" spacers under the amp to bring the amp up to the level of the front of the enclosure as well as it should give the amp a little more breathing room for air to flow around it. Thinking about making some filler peices to go at the ends of the amp to cover the wiring. One sub in, time for the second. Both subs in!! Next is just some random shots of the completed enclosure. Will be waiting on Grasshopper to do a little more with the carpet trimming before we set this up in the Tahoe and start the wiring.1 point- Grasshopper's Hoe
1 pointA little more done on the enclosure... 1st baffle installed. 2nd baffle installed.1 point- Grasshopper's Hoe

0 pointsscores? what freq? plug or "normal"? If I get no reply again, Ill just leave it alone and assume I made my point: that little home meter might just give me a 161 @ 15Hz, but at a comp with a TL 10dB is a HUGE gap. theres no response because there is no need to continue with this game you got going, I built my setup for what I want it to sound like and I am not tuned at 8hz like you. I am tuned at a normal frequency of which music plays. My amps are in locations that are safe for an amp to be in. My subs are a high output sound quality driver. and thats exactly what my vehicle is a high output SQ vehicle. I have my speakers in there proper location and it screams. I have my hardwood floors that look amazing. I am doing a 145.6 at 28hz on a TL which matches with my SPL labs meter. I didnt get my meter from radio shack it is a well respected company that has put hard work into there product and is within a tenth of a TL and for a much more respectable price. I am not competeing against you. nor do I care to truly respond to your crazy ways. I am over your arguments and ways of justifying. there, a little provoking to get some strait answers. if you want to call it a game, my game, go ahead. I flat out made the coment that i would give you my 2nd alt if you managed to beat my 25Hz score with only 2 18's and a tune above 30Hz without a wall. As of yet, I have seen no videos of you getting Term Labed at 25Hz, mine is posted on this thread. mine is set up to sound how I want mine to sound...so cuddos to BOTH of us my amp locations are not safe, yet I have had no issues? lucky me I guess. lets make this about amp mounting locations, shall we? my subs are high output SQ drivers as well, for a different application, yet I managed to beat yours that cost how much more? Don't worry, after I get the 2nd alt in, still being tuned to 23Hz..no port plug, i will beat your scores up high as well as down low. my install is the same: high output SQ vehicle. if you wanna get picky about staging and imaging ( speakers in center consoles apparently help better than in the ceiling?) then I guess you win, but for over all clarity and high volume, I'd beat you. proper location? what is the proper location for a speaker? How many people out there peek into your van and say 'thats not normal"? good job on your hardwood floors that look nice. at least yours looks better than mine, so if we go to a "who has nicer looking floors" competition at least you might win that one. Lets see your 145.6 on the Term Lab... last I saw was your 157 at 27 on that well respected home meter. um, my rat shack meter has absolutely nothing to do with any SPL I have done, or anything with my subs, my RS meter was to make fun of you. I am glad you arent competing against me, just cuz you win a bunch of comps doesnt mean your shit is good, it means you were the best one there. I wish I would have been there so you would have gotten 2nd instead. <insert clever facetious emoticon here like I just won>0 points- Sound Deadener on a Roll?
-1 pointsSo right now you are "selling" vaporware? So you didn't get an idea for a product, you got an idea for a price point then had someone else design a product (that you didn't understand) to fit that price point. At present, said product doesn't actually exist. Your marketing plan so far consists of promoting a product that doesn't actually exist and that you don't actually understand, making apparently outrageous claims about it's performance then deleting those comments, and finding reasons to trash competing products such as the picture of RaaMat you posted earlier? That's pretty tactless and demonstrates terrible business ethic. It also helps if you type in English. Your grammar and spelling is atrocious for an individual promoting a product and business. Sounds like a solid plan you have going there. "It does exist"... I have 75sqft of it in my car dumbass. I'm glad you have a bunch of groupies bro. Trashing a competitor because you simply can not compete with audiotechnix pricing. In fact no body can. A product of such high quality and such a low price that can not be reckoned with. Intimidated are you? I'm sorry that you must bring it to this. I'm leaving this argument not to return. Im sure col will do the same. It has now become pointless and is just past arguing but extraverting our egos. If you want to bring it even further past that... Than we can go there trust me, my biceps at bigger than your waist. Thank you all for your time. You can find audiotechnix sound deadner on the website. Entry level pricing will be available for a little while longer. To clear it up I am not a business partner of col by any means. I am a friend and proud of it. Sorry to sac tap your pathetic unmanned comments with my shear masculinity and ability to whoop all of your guys asses. But argue with me. Not cthedinger.-1 points- 2001 Chevy Astro....Custom Install!
-1 pointsI'll give him my excessive amperage alternator if he can beat my old score of 148 @ 25Hz-1 points- double cone area, 3dB gain, but Audyssey only added 1.5dB
my center channel I used 4 of the monster cubes in series/parallel, so it's the same impedance, same power going to them as the other 6 channels. It sits right in between the L and R. All three are at the edge of the entertainment stand, should be minimal loading if any at all. Why did Audyessey set the center only -1.5dB from the L and R rather then -3dB?-1 points- double cone area, 3dB gain, but Audyssey only added 1.5dB
good answer! I'll take it BTW its 4 cubes for the center, 1 cube per the other 6 channels... so its 4X cone area for 6dB, but again... I know what you mean. You can sit and model and plot all day long, even if you factor in compression, impedance rise, voice coil temp increase, and room acoustics after extensive listening room testing... it never comes out as predicted-1 points- new and improved front stage
-1 pointssure does feel pretty damn good finally ordered the 2nd alternator mounting brackets...get that thing installed and running smooth, some recones with a few extra spiders, and hopefully this thing is done!-1 points- new and improved front stage
-1 pointscheers! I tried dropping them to 3kHz for the hell of it, uh-uh nope. messed with the Extremis again too, everywhere from 125Hz on Alpine 125Hz Kicker, to 50Hz Alpine 50Hz Kicker.... I can never leave well enough alone!-1 points- new and improved front stage
-1 pointsdropped the Extremis off the Alpine to 50Hz... man I want to compete!-1 points- 2001 Chevy Astro....Custom Install!
-1 pointswhy not bro thats the fastest way out! clever little shit, like I said about the emoticon :-P WTF guys I am back up to 4 for rep! hehehe jerks-1 points- new and improved front stage
-1 pointsyup, the shit's still in the ceiling and it's gonna stay there. if you need to hear the drummer strait ahead and back 7 feet, the back up singer come 3 feet deep from 7 feet from your right, lead guitar and vocalist strait ahead yadda yadda... if you're all about staging, imaging, using time delay, phase, and EQ.... GOOD FOR YOU! I like it loud and clear. it is loud and clear. I like a ton of midbass and a ton of high treble and easy on the low treble and easy on the midrange. So this thing has come a long way, I now have: Alpine IVA-W505 touch screen DVD player so that I can use the touch screen to control the digital Alpine PXA-H701 crossover/processor. I have (2) Kicker KX850.4s bridged on (4) Adire Audio Extremis 6.4s with XBL^2, neo, aluminum/copper shorting rings with the Alpine HP 100Hz 24dB/oct.... I can run these things down to 35Hz easily, but with 1.7kW on tap for the midbasses alone, for as loud as I have them, even crossed at 100Hz I still get more content below 80Hz than most people have. I have the Kicker Crossovers all the waydown at 50Hz 12dB/oct.... 1 octave below the Alpine... for a touch more filtering and for protection... a couple times I have hit a wrong button resetting the EQ completely and had the battery situation which reset theAlpine as well...if it wasn't for the Kicker crossovers I'd have blown all 10 drivers instantly at high volume. LP set to 560Hz 24dB/oct. (1) Kicker KX650.4 bridged on (2) CSS FR125S 4.5" full range XBL^2 copper/aluminum shorting rings copper phase plugs 560Hz 24dB HP Alpine 200Hz 12dB Kicker for protection from resetting the Alpine 5kHz 24dB LP (1) Kicker SX500/2 on (4) Vifa XT25TG30 1" Ring Radiator tweets 16kHz 6dB/oct slope Alpine so that the high end is louder and the lower end is quieter, the way I like it, then the Kicker SX crossover set to 5kHz 24dB/oct, Alpine LP 20kHz 6dB/oct just in case, not that there should be much above 17-18kHz ever getting sent out from the HU.-1 points - Grasshopper's Hoe
