  1. Final result of the tweeter pods, customer came over today to have the tweeters painted to match the rest: Paint can says flat black, it's slightly glossy At one point I had some nice flat black, I tested it against gloss black on the Honda install. Should have used that brand. Oh well, as long as the customer is happy after I explained why it's slightly glossy, I'm happy.
  2. Wish more people could hear the Xcon sealed before you rebuild. The output is bonkers for a sealed 12 in an SUV.
  3. Effortless SQ from sub woofers. I shall call it: "In the gap 24/7!" Some people might not catch that. The icons certainly sound stellar, but sometimes even the slightest amount of bass irritates me on some music. I feel sorta snobby at times. Perhaps I'll order that fedora and scarf.
  4. Got an email from mike singer today also. he fixed my alternator charge stud, re-powdercoated it and put this lil number on. Mines on the left Prototype Bitches!
  5. I wanted to see what we think are some of the greatest motors of recent history. Keep in mind, just because it was a big motor with big horse power, does not mean its a great motor. Things you need to take into account are longevitity of usage, horse power/litre, durability, amount of different models powered, quality of design, ground breaking technologies, efficency, and performance of course. So post up a motor or two you think should be included in the upcomming poll for people to vote on the Greatest Motor in the last 25 years, and what about it makes it a good canidate. (and dont just say toyota 4 cyclinder or chevy small block give more detail than that) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok I will start with a few. 1. Audi 1.8T, excellent motor with very high HP capability with minimal modifications, used in numerous applications. A light motor in weight and small in size. (technically still in use in europe, along with the USA but bored out a little to the 2.0T) 2. BMW 3.0 I-6, it saw the most work in the previous generation M3, one very smooth motor with very good power delivery and drivability. It got decent milage for the power out put. Very flexiable motor, that is tourquey enough for all needs, being used currently in 530i. 3. Mercedes Kompressor V8, being used in numerous applications. Highest HP version is mass produced at just shy of 500hp. Instantly changed the reputation of Mercedes, and catapulted the E55 to supercar status (wait a sec it has 4 doors?).
  6. We are running a sale through till the end of March for 10% off the following brands in the store: Ascendant Audio Boston Acoustics Mechman Alternators Sound Solutions Audio XS Power Happy shopping http://www.soundsolu...udio.com/store/
  7. Either way, your still resorting to a rudimentary method for comparison. Pretty sure that's all he's asking for, is a basic comparison, like, what to expect? Is it worth doing? Why does it seem you are posting only to be negative and try to make yourself seem more intelligent, where you are actually doing just the opposite...still curious how you think comparing output of two amps on same load at assumingly same voltage is apples to oranges.... Bro he does it all the time, post bullshit at first then when you call him on it he is the expert. This could of been answered 8 post ago if you would actually try and help. First post was clear as day in what he needed to know. Mjmarovi to answer your question it would be in some one else's setup, every setup acts different. Just becuase someone has great success with a SAZ-3500d vs an IA40.1 doesnt mean you will and vice versa. Even if the SAZ-3500d does better numbers spl wise you will never know which amp put out the most power at the lowest distortion percentage.
  8. sounds to me like your voltage regulator has gone bad.. check it with a DMM and if indeed it is spiking contact mechman.
  9. Damn this is one of the best build logs to follow!
  10. The bass or the sub-bass irritates you? Well I have my icon crossed pretty high to keep the ex-anarchies from over-excursion, so currently it's around 30 to ~120. I'm guessing it's the parts from ~50+ that I feel are "muddying." If I had the icon crossed much lower, say 50hz, then perhaps I would keep that impact, and wouldn't have that muddy sound. I'd have to play with the eq and tone everything from 50 to 100ish down for the ex-anarchies then. I'll add that to my to do list. I think you are in denial about your deeply rooted love of tooth rattling bass. I think you secretly want to knock out the loose teeth of small children with incredible bass and that's not a bad thing. Perhaps build an enclosure that you can adjust the gains for soft soothing melts with the rest of the audio SQ, that can also get seriously loud with just a twist of the gain knob. J
  11. Played with the tune & eq in the car for less then five minutes, and my back was soaked, sweat dripping down my face, back of knees wet. Pretty picture huh? Cabin temp was too damn hot, and outside temp isn't even that bad today. WTF
  12. No, I think it is 2 cans overproof rum and 1 can concentrate.
  13. 73 outside and 67 inside. Go figure it is warmer outside than inside for once this year.
  14. RATM makes Penguin4x4 something something...kinda sounds like this in my head: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoGkDtPqtbY

  16. I love voluptuous redheads!!!!
  17. That is awesome! Toys from the past paying for an awesome trip! Er.... Not really toys from past.LOL They take up a whole room in my house, the room is going to be a half bath (guest) and my walk-in closet SO they gotta go. My youngest is 11 so she is kinda done with the Lego's too and I have already given my nephew more than he can handle. I enjoy building with them as its my meditation. Nothing wrong with that, good stuff that helps you go to another place.
  18. "Dude, what's mine say"
  19. Effortless SQ from sub woofers. I shall call it: "In the gap 24/7!"
  20. ohhhh sorry i forgot some of you are on SSA at work..... get to work!!!!!!! When you work the night shift, people at work love seeing pics like that.
  21. I am loving my 18's, they are sealed and sound awesome on all music. If I had room 4 18"s would have been done with more power.
  22. Damn 3 g's for the LEGO's? That is awesome! Damn, busy busy. Glad the auctions went well. I am hoping to make another grand or two off the rest. Yes 5k in LEGO's. Should pay for a nice trip to Hawaii for my 10 year anniversary , Kauai and the Big Island to be more precise. That is awesome! Toys from the past paying for an awesome trip!
  23. What the shit, man?
  24. Well, they're on the other side of the world, maybe it's right side up over there?
  25. Thanx Bro!! Agreed. Did you make the speaker mounting pieces out of abs plastic, or bought somewhere? Looks like a really good idea. I absolutely love the look of the 10" xcons, with such a huge motor. Makes me want to sell the 18" and get a 10", which makes no sense. Nope, they're made out of MDF and finished in bed liner. The build process on them is earlier in the log. I agree, they look meaner than sin. Can't wait to get the box built and see the look on peoples faces when they see it's sweet ass through the plexi. Then the confusion that follows when they don't see anything on the PR's that will look exactly the same from the outside, trying to figure out what the hells goin on in there, LOL.
  26. Dude...........that's just nuts. If I had all the boxes for mine I'd have about 7 sets. Now they are just 3 huge tubs of Lego's at my mother's. J
  27. Got it under control
  28. Damn, busy busy. Glad the auctions went well.
  29. Nice work on the sale!!
  30. This and a visit to Sundown might be a worthwhile trip
  31. Damn 3 g's for the LEGO's? That is awesome!
  32. I'll hit it up tomorrow & vote for ya once I'm off work in the am.
  33. should get the subs in. port assembled, painted and installed. braces finished tomorrow. still need to re assemble battery bank. and re install amps maybe wednesday.
  34. nice... lol.. just in time for the re-release of the movie
  35. USB vs USB Pro They are the same except the Pro comes with 2 sensors instead of one. Price difference- USB = $409 USB Pro = $549 Advantage? For the end user, using more than one sensor in the same environment, vehicle for example, allows the user to watch and test in real-time how pressure loads in the vehicle. When doing tweaking, positioning, etc.. user can see how doing something effects how pressure loads from one side of the vehicle to the other if each sensor were on each side of the vehicle. Also, if you are a judge, planning on being one, etc.. dual sensors are a nice tool to move competitors through the lanes quicker. Also, I have made a video before showing how it is possible to use 6 of our meters at once on the same computer! The more sensors you use in testing, the quicker and more you can learn about how pressure loads in your vehicle. I have heard of competitors use as many as 4 sensors in their vehicle for testing. Windshield placement and Kick placement on driver and passenger side. They monitor all changes on all meters when doing testing to understand how pressure changes according to what they are doing.
  36. found this on my pl;unders today Adrian edit: Link it and put a FUCKING NSFW warning.
  37. Oh don't you know it! Yep, makes ur mouth water don't it? Okay, so got a little work done this weekend. After visiting the ER with a 103.8 degree fever Wednesday it took me a few days to recover, missed three days of work, and between cold chills, sweats, naps, and the always fun intake/exhaust gastrointestinal evacuations that always seem to accompany getting that sick I felt good enough to do a little work on the Jimmy Sunday. The problem with getting that sick is that it takes awhile to get back to 100% capacity so after I got the driver's door done yesterday I just didn't have it in me to dig into the passenger door. However, I think I chronicled the drivers door fairly well. Onto the pictures: The before shot. The door as it was before I began with the PG RSD components installed. The mid mounted in the flimsy factory plastic baffles and the factory grille removed. The door card removed. I forgot to chronicle the installation of the CCF on the doors, but as you can see here the healthy helping of CCF has things well covered. I didn't put any over the window motor so that it can be changed/removed a bit easier in the future. Also if you notice the wire going to the tweeter I did a quick and dirty install of the PG's and never put any sort of disconnect on the wires which has been a bane of working on this thing without tearing the wires out of the back of the tweeter. That will be addressed and fixed during this stage of installation as well. The PG mid removed, bye bye crappy, flimsy factory plastic. Now you see it. Now you don't Ah, the Bravox CS60K's that will be replacing the PG's. Beautiful set and well built. The tweeter is mounted in the tweeter cup from an Alpine Type R set. Got them from my bro Jared (j-roadtatts) to help the Bravox tweets fit the gaping hole that the PG tweets required even though they're both 1" dome tweets. If you look closely you can see the dab of hot glue I put on the back of the tweeter to help hold the wires. I've had tweeters like this with wires torn out cuz of how they attach and have almost no support. Doing this just helps ensure they don't do that easily. PG tweet out, notice how large that freaking hole is. Just crazy! Bravox tweet is in! Now, I mentioned earlier I wanted to make it easier to remove the door panels without tearing up tweeter wires. I picked up these simple molex connectors from RadioShack. Got the male connector on. Also, notice the CCF on the door card itself. I placed it over the location where the opening remains at the window motor and mechanism to continue to help block noises and rattles at that location too. The female end of the molex connector installed. Now onto the meat of it. I've applied some CCF speaker gasket tape around the opening of the door for a couple of reasons. One, it's just another way to help decouple the baffle from the door. Two it will help seal it, obviously. Third it gives the baffle a little "wiggle" room by tightening and loosening the bolts around the baffle it allows for just a tad of adjustment. Got the baffle bolted up. Turned the one bolt around so it wouldn't interfere with the window travel. Here's the Bravox mid mounted to the baffle. As always I have speaker gasket tape on it too. Damn does it look good in there! Another quick shot of the door card. The new tweeter connector all connected up. Viola! Completed, er, well for this door anyway. Well, that's that for now. I'm on call at work all this week so I won't be getting much done on the Jimmy with it parked at work. Hopefully the Singer 250A will be in before the end of the week and I can get it and the rest of the goodies that came in last week while I was sick installed while I'm on vacation next week! WOOHOO for kids spring break!! New XS Power XP950 battery for the rear of the Jimmy and a 34/78 Intimidator for under the hood. K&N Cold Air Intake for the Jimmy, The "Piece de resistance" PCMforless performance tuned PCM Thanx for lookin' guys!
  38. well while i decide what to do on the wall configuration, i soldered my new speaker wires and installed the other binding posts. here is what i could do. it wouldnt be as asthecitlly pleasing but should yeild the port area im looking for. port would be in the top right corner. here the back og the wall now. port would be between the 2x4s.
  39. Well, I know you've all seen sub unboxings before and at the risk of being a complete and total bore I'll show the unboxing of the 10" XCON anyway. Mainly because I know how much you guys love sub porn!! First impressions are that this thing has a nearly inexplicably large motor, lol. Not really but the size of it makes removing it from the shipping box without destroying said box nearly impossible. I seriously wonder how the hell they pack them without tearing up the box. Of course the build quality is second to none. Everything is perfectly lined up, no excess glue, just perfection. I can't wait to hand this to a couple of good friends and see the looks on their faces!! Did I mention the motor on this thing is massive? Huge? I loved seeing the number of tinsel leads on this thing. Much like my Q's there's more than enough tinsel lead there to handle all the power this thing can take. Well, those are my first thoughts. I'm quite possitive I'm going to love the new setup I'm looking at doing. I'm really looking forward to getting the PR's in and getting this bish completed finally!!
