  1. Photo Shoot 06/01/2012 for Project Mayhem Car Club There was over 300 photos taken, all of the above where taken by me though lol Photographer handed me her backup cam as she went to go make a quick errand. Also, this is this models first shoot. Hope you guys enjoy I had a great time.
  2. my trunk is pretty massive with nothing in it besides the amp.. But now I'm second guessing my first suggestion with what little power I have on the amp.. Maybe 2 12 inch Dcons off 500x2 bridged rears would sound better than 4 splitting the power up between them? The power is not a problem, four 12's in a trunk is a problem. Two twelves or three tens would be a better choice in my opinion.
  3. thanks to ssa, i am now going to sell the line in my shop. i am so excited to have the best subwoofers that wont be available in my area and i wont have to worry about all of those discount malls and flea markets as well. for a long time i have been competing with those places and could barely make some dough with subs, because everyone whored the lines out! thanks to ssa i will now have the best subs around available to my customers who want better equiptment than a kicker cvr. AND THE BEST PART OF ALL IS NO COMPETITION FROM ANYONE IN MY AREA! chicago is gonna know the name ssa when im done hooking up my customers rides! thanks aaron and mark as well as the builders and family of ssa.
  4. Good idea! I may steal it.
  5. Nice fab job man
  6. Pretty cool idea!
  7. It does great on music, as long as that music is a 50Hz sine
  8. Box from a couple of pages back, now with painted trim rings and installed: Next up is a trim piece over the amp and 2 trim pieces to conect the ports to the sides. Pedobear rims: And the only way of keeping cars acceptably cool on a 90* day: You can see the Jeep in the background and 2 of the cars I've worked on in the foreground, all with tin-foil. The ugly duckling:
  9. why isn't there a bikini?
  10. Looks pretty good for a quik fab. Sometimes you gotta what u gotta do to get u bye for the time being.
  11. Well, 1- 12" sealed won't have the same output as double the cone in a ported enclosure... And like Neil stated you might be pushing it beyond its limits mechanically... That driver could in the right setup take double the RMS that you're giving it. But the enclosure size if most likely the factor in which you are having the problem. I have my 15" sub which handles less wattage in a smaller sealed enclosure than you AND it is bigger than the optimal enclosure recommended by SSA... If you're at 3.7 for a 12" and I'm at 3.2 for a 15" then something is being done wrong ... obviously... I've yet to hear/read this type of thread for a Z series subwoofer from Sundown.... Add blocks in the enclosure to take up some volume.... I've say to shave off up to 1 cube IMO... But I don't know that the Z was made to excel in a sealed application either... Correct me if I'm wrong...
  12. I would highly suggest seeing if the box would fit properly. Some people have pre-cut boxes, then assembled them in the car because they were too big to slide it. As said before, power is not an issue, fitting a box the size 4 12's will need to be ported properly (say around 7 cubes after port and driver displacement) is the issue.
  13. Have a good one !
  14. The Hifonics are good bang for your buck, make sure you buy with a warranty because I have seen a ton not work right out of the box, ex: they go straight into protect. The Soundstream Rubi2500 has cheap mounting feet on it, so do not mount it on a box. I'd go with the Hifonics personally, unless you find an older Soundstream. Check out Audiopipe, imo they are better for your buck! Good luck
  15. That is how it all starts and it never ends.
  16. This is irrelevant but that music scared the SHIT outta me...this is a warning to anyone who clicks the link lol
  17. Overheard in Best Buy car audio section today: #1: No, I'm going to get some huge speaker [makes huge circle with his arms], probably 2000 watts. Something like that [points to the low end 12" Polk sub in display] #2: Yeah, that'd probably like blow out your windows or something. #1: Probably, I'll probably just do fiberglass instead (I'm assuming he meant Plexiglas) #2: Yeah, you'll have to! Me: as I walk away
  18. i wanted to go! you coming down for the Austin one? I'll be at the Austin one fo sho
  19. There are a number of folks on here that have done and sealed off their trunk. Use your search function and I am sure you will have answers. Always use the search first. If you do npt find whaT your after, then by all means ask.
  20. The critical characteristic of the adhesive is that it be viscoelstic. If you make a ball out of adhesive, stretch it and let it go, it should return to pretty close to its original shape - it shouldn't just stretch out and stay like taffy. If it isn't viscoelastic it woun't work, whether it sticks or not. The waythe adhesive has stretched out in those photos makes it look like that batch of adhesive may be lacking the elastic part of the equation.

  36. Won't help? I'm not really trying to fix anything. All I wanted to originally do is put a 12" woofer in this box. There was never a problem. There isn't a problem with port noise or anything else like. What they are trying to express is that the enclosure has as much of an effect on performance as the subwoofer itself. You can change subs, but you really do not have sufficient port area for a 12" driver of decent excursion. As such, the resulting performance is going to suffer to some degree. Which makes the entire endeavor a little self-defeating. If your goal is simply to "fit a 12" driver in this enclosure, regardless of performance" (which is essentially what you are saying) then it doesn't really matter much what you pick to put in there. If your goal isn't to improve any performance aspect, then stick with what you have. But if your goal is to improve various aspects of the performance, then it would be best to start by designing a new enclosure. You might not think the design of your enclosure has anything to do with this thread....but it does.
  37. Everything is looking great so far! That is an interesting workbench you have there. A ranger perhaps? Keep up the good work!
  38. 1 point
So as far as a bass competition goes would it better to run a ported enclosure or a bandpass? Do you care to explain playable frequency range for me?
