  1. 2-2.5k is too much for the ICON. You more than likely wouldn't notice an increase in output anyway. If you want to get louder you'll need more cone area, or a 12 that can take a lot more power.
  2. .....it must have changed. It was pushed HARD there. And really discriminatory. I don't know about Boston.... but they have no right to stop the chain, but I wouldnt support them with dollars in anyway. The difference between your Indian restaurant and chick is massive. The beliefs of the proprietors are not forced into your face at one... and at the other, every trip I had it was. YMMV And I'm not saying you should go, but I am saying to me, the ignorant thinking forced on others is just a step too far. Feel anything you want.... jus don't force your feelings on others. Its like 150db truck bumping down my street. Don't force me hear your shit. Ssince I think chick is shit I just won't go.
  3. so jon is getting ready for the heatwave and i thought i would share what my house looks like right now! lol i looked around and said "Damn" there is a amp, speakers, and re coning + his big box.. not to mention i would like to pick up his speaker so i can start dinner but i wont be doing that ill just wait for him lol.
  4. There is no correct "rule of thumb" for port area vs. box volume. Port area is determained by driver displacment and power, not box size.... With that 10 at full power a 4" ID PVC pipe or roughly 12 in2 of area will be fine for just about anything you throw at it... You can add more area, but will get diminishing returns... WinISD only gives you a ridiculous port area if you look for a ridiculoulsy low vent velocity... When you are in a truck cab, normally firing the drivers and/or port off the back wall or sides near th eback usually nets highest SPL. If you load into the center of the cabin, you tend to get less output. Hope this helps...

You can get either a .5 ohm load or a 2 ohm load with a D1 subwoofer
  6. What's you enclosure like? Mabye something can be done there to increase output.
  7. We used to offer an aluminum coil option, but with the all new motor design, the copper coil is quite good with it. There would need to be a slight suspension adjustment due to the different moving mass. Are you just looking for more thermal? I ask as the thermal limits went way up on the new Icon due to inheriting the method of cooling from it's big brother Xcon.
  8. The reason why it can't work: - the gap is different - the coils are different - rear ward clearance is different - motor force is different - moving mass is different etc. etc. Essentially, the Xcon coil would slam into the back of the Icon back plate.
  9. Haha nice temp subs!
  10. lol its looking like it!!! he is on a major big wrecker call and has been gone since about 5:30 :/ im going to try and cook around that sub!
  11. Well after playing with this set up for 30 minutes or so today. I must say um very pleased. The main goal with the revisions were to keep voltage up during my streetbeat runs. Before I was dropping to mid 10s after 30 seconds. Now I can bang for minutes without dropping below 13v. I would say the revisions were very successful. Also the braces held up very well. Still need to reseal it from the back.
  12. A little bass to hold me over until the SSA subs are here. This thing looks very impressive for how cheap it was.
  13. I would, if I simply want a steeper roll-off at the same point by cascading the filters... I.e, 24db/oct HU + 24db/oct Amp = 48db/oct total, 12db/oct + 18db/oct = 30db/oct total, etc... And there is no reason to use either the HU or Amp in any particular preference as long as they fit your filter criteria...
  14. Some more updates:

Thanks ! It's even harder for people who don't speak english everyday, like me !!! And I'm not the only one, on this forum. SSA is international !
  16. What up fam?! We need to get some more traffic going on in here! Let's see some updates on what everyone is doing whether it's a build, work, family, or just to shoot the sh*t ;-) Finals are coming up here in Indy & I'm hoping to see some out of state family for that pic Shizzz wants. I'll fire up some convo..... Well, it seems a few things will be put on hold or at least slowed down with my build upgrades. My radiator & hoses have to be replaced asap along with my serpentine belt & I need a oil change. This is all going to be done tomorrow thanks to Jamy, one of our local members who just opened his new shop. This is getting into my $ for the 2nd amp & new wheels/tires, which I will need an alignment before I have mounted :-( Luckily for me, I will be paid 3x's on my biweekly pay schedule next month. If all goes well & my overtime continues I should have everything in & bangin by the end of Aug.
