Figured I'd throw a thread up for people to post vids, pics whatever from finals and the 3x. Inac score was a 152.5 in stock pro 2. Don't know about place yet because my score was lost. For the 3x the next day I put up a 152.6 good for first place and the west coast championship.1 point- Need Some Advice, ZCON 15 or 2 ICON 12's

A little more cone area, less power compression and Icon's are excellent daily drivers.1 point- FINALS AND 3X PICS VIDS RESULTS ETC.
1 point- SSA Gcon 12"
1 pointI'll start this off with a list of equipment used: 4 12" SSA Gcon Sundown Audio SAZ-1500 Alpine 9887 6.9 ft^3 Net 35 hz tuning with 12.3in per cube with 3 6" flared PSP aero ports On with the review. I bought 4 12" Gcons the hour they were released, and have been using them everyday since having them show up at my door. Competitive burping, ground-pounding, demoing both spl and clarity, and I'm more than happy with my purchase. If you can see through the vlurred bision these subs cause you can literally watch your car shake apart! Gcon left, Fiday X right Turn the bass knob down to blend with the front stage to really show what bass can add to any music. The Gcons bass reproduction is pin-point accurate. The tight double drums or the beat of a bass guitar will leave you with a smile on your face every time you really listen to your music they way it was meant to be heard. After about a month of use I broke down and upgrade to the Gcon's rated RMS power via a Sundown Audio SAZ-3000. It was an instant upgrade in overall performance, but the biggest gain I saw was the lows. I was finally able to really get these subs moving and "wake the lows up". Even at low volume I'm surprised how authoritive these subs sound. I can hear every note these are meant to play very clearly, and distanctly from each other. I've yet to hear any sort of distortion from these subs, no matter if I'm demoing or burping. Every time someone new gets in my car, the first comment is how low these subs get and how great they sound. They truly do pack a punch, don't let their price tag leave any doubts on quality, performance, or spl. These will do anything you ask of them. And do it well. If I can't express how these sound or how top notch the quality of these subs are in words, just know that I'm truly happy with the Gcon line. I don't care if there are cheaper products out there, I don't believe SSA products can be touched for what they are. American made, clean, and loud. What more can you ask for? @ ~ 26 hz.1 point- "SQL"?
1 pointBM = Brick & Mortor I think. He's referring to the fact you'll pay more for the Havoc because it's a dealer based product than you will for something VERY close to it from an internet only brand like Fi or SSA. The BL will have more output per watt applied than the Q in almost any scenario. It will still sound fantastic tho and is the better choice for a person who's looking for something that gets loud AND sounds good. There's been several people who've bought the Q's, didn't get the output they were wanting and ended up destroying the sub trying to get to that point when a BL would have sounded just as good and gotten them the output they wanted in the first place. That's basically why the BL is recommended over the Q just about any time someone asks about one over the other.1 point- whay am i not louder?
1 pointThe volume isn't an issue, and 4 cubes should be a bit more efficient than a smaller enclosure.1 point- Welcome to the IHoP
1 pointYanked the shocks off the sled today, going to get them revalved and charged1 point- "SQL"?
1 pointSQ is not related to output. You can have something be loud and sound good, doesn't mean your ears can tell at those levels. However, to build an SPL box and an SQ box they are at opposite ends of the spectrum (ie peaky or flat). This of course means a term somewhere in between is absolutely stupid. As for your choices, it's easy. SSA XCON 18 - Yes Ascendant Audio Havoc 15 - No, why a BM sub when you are comparing to internet only Incriminator Audio Death Row 18 - No, I like your other choices better Fi audio Q18 - No, by your tone so far if you were looking for an Fi, it should be a BL Dayton Audio HO 18 - No, they've had quality issues on the 15's and my guess is that it follows to the 18's. Plus it really isn't at all comparable to the rest of your list.1 point- Welcome to the IHoP
1 pointShit settled down yet? Everything is going smooth. Life is good. I can't blame my W for defusing the situation, I was pretty yoked on Crown. So now on Probation, doing outpateint treatment, DV classes and UA's. The costs are eating my lunch. The worst part is I can't smoke herb, even with a card. I can grow, buy, sell and transport, but not smoke. go figure. I switched my work hours back to 8hrs a day this week, instead of the 10hrs i've been pulling for the last year and a half. Should help my stress alittle. I usaully have a side job or two going also so still busy as fuck. How's life treating you Ryan? Could be better, could be worse. Can't really complain I guess. As long as I am still waking up every morning, we'll call it good. Hope everything works out for you.1 point- Welcome to the IHoP

1 pointswapping them out for the xcon? I sold the xcons a long time ago. Then had an 18" icon for a while, but didn't play it much. Now I got tired of having that lack of bottom end, so the dcons were perfect. Plus the price was a steal.1 point- Welcome to the IHoP

Well Steve, the only reason I ever found out about SSA is when I saw the Camero in action. Definatly some very good products coming from Sound Solution Audio! BTW, this forum im my mind is held to a higher standard. Good luck on the future build, and I cant wait to see what you come up with Steve1 point- *Swift's Rebuild* 3 SP4 18's, 12k Walled F250

1 pointi myself have found that ssa subs (particulary zcon obly cuz its all iv had lol) are very efficient. im running my saz 3k @ 1ohm to the 18 and i dont drop below 13.4 at full tult. my port is a little to big for my sub (150sq inchs) so sound quality aint the best. thats why im either getting a seccond zcon in my truck with a new box, or getting 3-4 sundown sa 8 v2s on my 3k Voltage drop has nothing to do with how efficient a sub is.1 point- Lets see if I remember how to do this
Still getting everything set back up. It's a tedious process. How bout a teaser?1 point- "SQL"?
1 pointWelcome to SSA!!! "Sql" is looked at as silly because once your sub setup reaches a certain loudness sq goes out the window. If you want a loud sub setup that can blend with the front stage when turned down, and get loud enough to "keep up" with the bass, that is what most people consider to be "sql".1 point- Welcome to the IHoP
1 pointWhat we have in stock is available on the SSA Store. You need to get the dang black hats back in stock !! navy blue could still be alright. def. in need of a new hat though Once you go black..... I like black hats. That's all I wear.1 point- Welcome to the IHoP

1 pointWell in 30 minutes I leave for my hearing, which takes place in an hour. If they agree with my lawyer and myself I will be getting my medical discharge. If not, its left up to the Commanding General to make a final decision. I am not a 'spiritual' man by any conventional means. For those of you that are, all I ask is that you throw a little something up for me. J1 point- 92 Volvo 240, SSA zcon 18!
1 pointi did think about walling the wagon off so bad but i dont think im ready for that yet this is enough for my needs. If i ever purchased another volvo i would and make it my weekend daily car. For now it turns heads and makes the cops stay on high alert!1 point- SSA's Evil SS Camaro. 4 Evil 15s and 2 DC 7.5ks
i was thinking your intermediate power issues would have very well been that 1 terminal cutting your power down in that one sub/amp causing your frustrations would have been sweet to see if after the new terminals were put in if it would have constantly put up 160's then go from there with different equipment but it kept throwing cones. sucks. it will be nice to see the changes, for better or worse1 point- SSA's Evil SS Camaro. 4 Evil 15s and 2 DC 7.5ks
Was going to retire it but I would like to try some new equipment in here since I know it can already perform.1 point- What would you have done differently?
Welcome, I wished I had found this site before getting back into car audio. I would not have bought a 5 channel amp. I wouldn't have settled on what the local shop brands were. My ultimate goal is a get a 10" or 12" Icon/Xcon in a ported box in the trunk pushed by a ZED minatour. I am happy with front stage- older German made MB Quart 6x9" component system getting 75 watts and EQ'd by an Audio Control unit.1 point- Saz2500d

1 point- What would you have done differently?
Sq wise it is one of the best subs that I have ever heard. The enclosure will have a lot to do with how it sounds and how low it will play. As far as "sql" subs go I don't think you can beat the Xcon.1 point- 2003 Dodge Dakota crew with 2 15" Icons
Been working like crazy on the truck this long weekend (Thanksgiving up in Canada) and made some good headway, First thing I did is tear everything off including door panels, rear panel, back half of headliner etc. Then I used dynomat, great stuff (went a little spray happy and some camper mouunting foam to deaden and stop vibration of headliner and other panels. Very happy with results already, hitting the back wall or roof no longer gives that nasty tin sound but instead a hearty thump. Other thing I did today is build my false floor which my box and amps will be sitting on. used seat belt mounts to bolt down the floor and its very strong . Also rockguarded the box today, (except the front baffel) pretty happy with the finish, couldnt get a perfect finish on front baffle so got it pretty good and gave up and just sprayed it black. (will probably put on a beauty panel in future.) Heres a few pics, sorry for lack of them, always just work and forget to take pics. let me know what you think. also ran all wiring.1 point- SSA XCON dual 1 ohm re-cone?
1 point- Wired SSA Icon 12 to 200w(4 ohms) today...
Single Icon 10 with about 900 or so watts in an Explorer...Holy hell! And this is not an spl driver....It sounds entirely too good.1 point- 2003 Dodge Dakota crew with 2 15" Icons
Yes you can just Y the remote. I don't use relays unless I'm hooking up so many things it will create a large current draw. Often a relay will pull more current than a couple devices will. The way I do mine is run a single remote wire to the first amp. Then add a wire from the first amp remote to the second amp. Kinda like a daisy chain. I just think its a little cleaner looking but whatever works.1 point- 2003 Dodge Dakota crew with 2 15" Icons
No more picture updates yet, been busy with life lately figuring out where I should go to school and for what. Anyways on a more exciting note, I went to the shop and didnt want to get all dusty sanding as I was going out right away. and wanted so bad to hear the Icons so I test fitted them in the box, wired em up quick to four ohm, backed my truck into the shop and hooked up the subs to my Kicker kx700.5, so only getting about 100rms per sub and bumped them for a bit, wow the amount of air those things move with only 100rms is crazy, im very excited to hear them on some real power. Hoping to rip everything out of the back of my truck this weekend and get wiring and some deadening done. will upload more pics as I make progress, Also on a side note, will I be alright making a Y in the remote wire for 2 amps vs using a relay? Will be running a Crescendo BC2000d (if it ever gets here ) and probably my Kicker KX600.4.1 point- 4 SSA Zcon 15's in a Taco

1 pointHaha not bad for 26hz! Keep up the good work. i was also on 3 subs. 1 of the wires to 1 of the subs came loose sometime that weekend, which sucked but i got it fixed as of now The ZCON's are making a huge statement lately. Good luck with your build, I'm tuned in for sure! agreed. im more than happy with the zcons. very great subs thanks i really appreciate it1 point- 4 SSA Zcon 15's in a Taco

The Start of the box build. This is only the third box i've built so its gonna be far from perfect, previous ones were for a Kicker CVR 12" and a IA I10" so nothing to this extent, so far i'm happy with how its turning out. These pictures are before hours of sanding to get joints perfect and clean up extra PL Premium. Thanks for looking I know holes aren't perfect, thought I had a circle jig but I didnt and wanted to get the top on so i freehanded it with a jigsaw, it turned out alright. That's where I left it last night, will be putting on top baffle and test fitting subs tonight. Probably will rock guard the whole box except the port and top baffle, then will paint the top and port blue to match truck and then make a black vinyl beauty panel for top similar to the design. Let me know what you think,1 point- 2003 Dodge Dakota crew with 2 15" Icons
Please forgive my picture sizes. if someone could give advice as to how to resize that would be great. Anyways this is one of my Icons next to a 12" type R. 40 feet of KnuKonceptz OFC 0 guage. Also got a fuse holder, RCA's etc. Its really nice stuff. My Speaker amp, Don't know where I will mount it yet but Ill find a spot.1 point- sa-8 v1 sa-8 v1.5????
