Looking into bying a new desktop
2 points1 TB of HDD space, lol. When you said memory i almost had a stroke! In all honesty, you could get a computer built for around the same price and have it OC'ed to outperform computers 2-3x the price. ANY branded Stock clocked computer will not satisfy you for the money if you only knew how much you get with an OC. You want a workstation computer and workstation computers need to be OC'ed more than any other type of usage out there. Contrary to belief, gaming computers need not be touched.. Try and find someone who does this kind of thing in your area. I'd do it for you but have never shipped a computer before and feel leary doing it.2 points

Looking into bying a new desktop
1 pointYou will want Intel Core I57 Line 100% Unfortunately, if you cannot find a tuner, you would really want an I7 and those are not in the ideal $500 budget. I have successfully OC'ed I5 dual-core to outperform stock I7 quad-core benchmark for benchmark using Photoshop Benchmark. I5s are cheaper and the overall system should be too. If you feel like splurging on yourself, you can get 16GB of RAM for under $100 It's DDR3-1600 but after doing lots of research, going any higher in the XMP profile abilities show no immediate performance increase all the way up to DDR3-2200+ If you can figure out a way for me to ship you a computer safely, i'll build it for you. You know.. now that i think about it.. I wonder if purchasing cases separately come with plenty of foam padding? IF they do, then i can just add some more for the extra items and BAM! Whole new PC. If you serious about it, let me know when you want the computer. I'll start getting a price list of everything and review it to see if it's what you want to pay etc.. then when it's all finalized, we'll buy it all, build it, ship it to you. Tuning this computer will take about 1-2 weeks FYI. Once it's done, it will be ready for some db metering... . uh.. I mean performance use. Got confused there, lol.1 point

Are you about to make a thread asking about box design? READ THIS FIRS
Hello there! If you clicked this thread it is because you are considering making a thread asking about a box design! (Or you are wondering, what's this thread about?) Well I am here today to help you and make your box designing dreams become a reality! Follow these 4 easy steps to correctly pose the question "Is this a good design for a box?" By following these steps other members will be able to better assist you in your goals! STEP 1 (Research): Research! Hop on Google and find your manufactures recommendations for the enclosure. Go up in the search bar of this fine forum and search! You will be surprised to find that someone has probably already asked "How good is sub xxx tuned to 34 hz?" And whats awesome is if you do some snooping you can see if they made a build thread, and then find out how well their plan turned out! You can even PM the person and get their opinions on how it turned out! that's the best part of an online community. STEP 2 (Answer "The List"): Check out this cool list below! These are the type of questions that people are going to ask about your box design goals when you make a thread! So have them ready up front! Copy and paste this list to your new thread and fill in the blanks! If you are not sure on an answer simply put a question mark (" ? ") in that space! That way members will be able to provide the best answers for your questions! (See something I should add? PM Me please!) The list: Vehicle : Location in the vehicle: Space available (Length x Width x Height): Subwoofer make and model: Subwoofer Size: Number of Subwoofers: Type of Port (Kerfed, Slot, Aero, etc.): What type of music do you like?: Is your goal SPL or Everyday Music?: Tuning Freq (Hz): Volume : Questions: STEP 3 (Make a good thread title): Now that you have your list filled out go ahead and make a thread, but I strongly encourage you to put as much info about your design in the thread title. This is a VERY IMPORTANT step! By putting information about the thread you are making in the thread title someone will be able to much more easily search for your thread! And not only that more people are likely to respond to your thread as they will be like: "Oh an Fi BTL, I had one of those, I''m gonna help this dude out!" Here is my recommendation for a format of your thread title: Recommended Thread Title: Design Questions for : (Subwoofer Size) (Subwoofer Manufacturer) (Subwoofer Series) in (Cubic Volume) (@Tuning Freq) Enclosure Here is a sample using the above format: "Design Questions for 12" Fi BTL in 2.5 Cubic Ft @ 34 Hz Enclosure" Trust me, if you take the time to have a good thread title, it will attract much more interest and help! Again, if you don't know the freq you want to use or any other part of the tile just leave it out! For love of all that is holy DO NOT make a thread title "Box help" Thread titles like that are the devil! STEP 4 (Do more research!): As the answers start rolling in keep researching! There are plenty of useful tools out their for designing! Part of the fun of this whole hobby is learning how to do things! Then you can impress your friends and make boxes for others! LEARN LEARN LEARN! These videos are just a sample of what you can find on youtube that may help! I hope you enjoyed this thread! With these steps you are on your way to getting accurate answers to your questions from the members of this forum! And not only that you are bettering the forum by allowing information to be more easily found! Take care and stay loud!1 point

*Swift's Rebuild* 3 SP4 18's, 12k Walled F250
153.0@37hz headrest in Meca yesterday. Did a 131.0 in Park & Pound DB4. That was on 300amp of fusing. Two 1st place trophies, best truck and best install medals as well. I really want to pull a 55 at the headrest though. Now its time to add more batteries, distro blocks, more 2/0, add the second 5500 and also incorporate this DD 2 channel amp I have to run just the tweeters while the 4 channel runs the mids. Also gonna be doing my doors and will probably be running all Rockford Pro Audio gear soon. Crescendo cant seem to keep anything in stock so I will probably switch tweeters too. Will more than likely have 3 6.5's in each door and one or two tweeters in each door. Whichever one disgust M5 the most is what I will probably go with. lmao1 point

1 pointBiggest thing you need care with is graphics. The intel one has none and the other desktop has a poop one. It would be nice to know what software exactly you'd be running besides cs5 or 6. Just for info....1 point

Another Q or Bl post......I know
1 pointIt has nothing to do with no love for the Q. Personally if I had to choose it'd be a no brainer to take it over a BL. The reason you see responses like that though is the classic misconception that most people have. Q = SQ, SQ <= shitty sound, BL = Loud, My wants are LOUD and sounding good so I must need the Q. Then the question becomes Q or BL and when that is asked it is always asked by someone who doesn't know (otherwise the answer is obvious) and I have yet to meet someone who doesn't know that the Q is better for. There are exceptions but they just haven't surfaced on this site yet. The decision needs to be based on enclosure and goals. Then it's really easy. In this case that screams BL. I'm just curious on your opinion, if you were in my place and had one Q 15, how would you design your box? Perhaps you didn't read my comments. First off you design a system, not just a box. Knowing nothing about the rest of then what I'd have I can't really answer. And of course, more importantly I seriously doubt my goals and yours would line up. Like not even close. That being said, if I had 3cuft and someone gave me a Q15 if you were wondering what I'd do with it, well I'd sell it and buy something that fit my goals better.1 point

Another Q or Bl post......I know
1 pointwrong anology. IT would be better to say would you pick a luxury family vehicle over a sportscar for the same price? Both can go over the speed limit easily but each vehicle has it's own features that are a lot easier to obtain if using the correct car.1 point

^^ ill tell u right now, the zcon compaired to any woofer is going to be a close on... between the zcon and the bl, the zcon will SMASH it IMO. iv owned every size zcon in the past and they are by far my favorite alltime woofer (even over the fi btl 18) here is a video of my buddies single zcon 15 in 4cubes IRRC on a audiopipe 3k in a trunk...1 point

Sell that damn capacitor. It is nothing more than another load and the ESR of the big caps make them pointless for anything in the first place. As for your subs, you don't seem too concernced about anything other than getting loud and feeling the beat, so I really would just pick the the cheapest thing you can find that will fit your application, build a proper enclosure and be done with it.1 point

1 pointTry living in South Bend. . . . . . . It is nice for the community though, and the whores really come out when they win. I'm getting a sitter for next Saturday. Win win for me. They beat Southern Cal and the chicks drink so much, they are easy. They lose, they drink away their sorrows and look for a penis bon bon.1 point- Can I fit 2 Zcon 18's in 14.25 cu. ft?
So I can just cut a hole in the crate and run them that way? Yea you don't even need a port. The cardboard acts as a passive radiator1 point- NEM's Evilinator!!
