We did hill climbing, trail riding, drag raced at an old abandoned airfield, tore it up in a quarry, hit some riverbeds, jumped... oh, and we stopped for gas/drinks twice. Those specs on the Earthquake are complete and total bullshit. Absolutely zero possibility the Xmax is 90mm peak to peak. It's a lie, plain and simple. It might have an Xmech of 3.5" peak to peak. But that is most definitively not it's Xmax.

So the last thing I was able to finish up today was the front bumper thing. For some reason, looks as though the front bumper is darker than the Grille and Grille Lip, I'm assuming this is becasue the finish on the Grille/Lip is a glossy finish, so I'll have to come back with a layer or two more, easy fix. sorry for the dark pics, will share more soon.

The biggest lesson learned here, 30 minutes prep work, 5 minutes painting lol The hood lip panel: It was painted orignally gloss black to match the aftermarket grille, which paint begain to fade horibally. Time to go move some computer servers!

Looks to be a busy day here at work :/ But I was able to finish the grille. I'm here till 11, so I'm gonna see how much I can get done. I'm definately learning how to work with this stuff. It looks like the best way for me to apply this stuff, is to be about 7-8 inches away, and apply many light cloats vs a few heavy coats. I'm really picky when I do things, and pay a great deal of attention to the smallest of details, so using the previous method, of swaying back and forth, I can see "heavy" spots from the overlapping, which I don't like. But yeah, this is some great stuff lol.

With that airspace, I say pull the trigger on the 18. Why not, and your heart will be happy! Also with that power, your box will be more efficient also. In theory you have recommended RMS wattage, but I also know sundown is underrated some what. Bottom line, I personally think the 18 would be great in that enclosure with your power. But im far from any expert.

i didnt take pics of what i cut.. but on the back of the door pannels it has a 5x7 shape on the door pannel its self.. so that it meshes with the factory location so the 5x7 is kinda sealed to the pannle... i shaved that flat, used two 8 inch MDF rings.. mounted siliconed, and then dropped my speaker in and put the door skin on.. the driver side took me alot more time(it was the first) i had to mount it a few times..put the door back togather.. then try again,,, 3 times... the passenger side i got it with out shaving.. but then when i got my amp installed it made noise.. so i took it off shaved it and it worked fine.

Thanks for the reply. Thats kinda what I had to do when I put my crescendo 6.5s in the door make a ring then mount panel, shave repeat. Can I ask why you made 2 mounting rings? a few reasons.. it was the only way the basket would sit into the 5x7 hole and its an 8 so its a little deep, and the depth on these cars is shallow. so to insure i had depth, (so the window would roll down) and do make it to where i did not have to cut the sheet metel in the door up.
