The response of larger subs being slower than smaller subs is a myth. The response has to do with the box. Both get loud and sound amazing, but I am a little bias with me owning a Xcon.

ohhh shiz. m5 steppin in with the smack down. anyways, as for musical ability of the subs, thats 90% box... i built a box for my single dd 9518 that was more musical and played lower than any single btl set up i've ever heard... same sub i burped a 147.7 with on less than 2500 rms. either way, this will simply prove that in this particular set up, one sub is more inclined to be successful in that particular scenario. the real test would be doing 20 different boxes, with power ranging from 1k rms to 4k rms, and seeing which subs hold up the best, put up the highest numbers, and are the most flexible in the variation of set ups. that would actually give you an idea of which sub is "better".

out of curiosity why is bass boost there? what is its 'intended' function? it seems odd to me that a dial that has no positive effects would be on every amp.

I can understand just caught a glimpse of the meter in that video. I am curious as to where your taking the voltage measurement at though, at the battery or at the amps terminals. for now.. i have it just on my fused box for my car.. im using a empty slot... so its reading my over all power... i may or may not get another one to run right on my amp input power to read the instant power.

How the hell are you gonna do that? if you don't have clamp meters? .. So this test is already worhtless before you begin it.. If the DD wins this one i'll take off my hat for this one. My friend will have his clamp meters We are just doing a basic test man. It's not going to be in all professional That's exactly it. If the all mighty DD wins when it has the power disadvantage we will know who is king. No..it is not a definitive answer, there is no definitive answer. It is not black and white like that..the only thing that can be said is speaker X was louder then speaker Y in this very specific install. It does not remain constant at all what so ever . Some speakers work better in some applications..for reasons that simply is a waste of time to find out.

What is the goal of the "drop in test"? You state you are trying to see which has the highest score, but the real question is why and what information do you plan to glean from this?

so me dani and my dog stewie love going swimming in the summer.. we live in a very uniqe spot of texas.. we have a spring river that starts in out town, and we live close to a hand full of lakes, but me and dani both have leather in out cars, and stewies nails are huge not to mention neither one of have a trunk to speak of so its a pain in the ass to take coolers chairs and so forth... so i bought a SUV for about 700 bucks.. it needs some love.. i got it off a collage kid that haddent a clue about cars so.. and ill post of pic of why i bought it trail to the river looking back it needs a few things, main thing the tranny slips a little in first... not a huge deal for what we need it for.. just locally, barn door latch is broken, a/c does not work ignition switch is screwy ( classic chevy) inside driver door handle does not work driver side break lights not working carpet is filthy paint is sun faded badly the gas gauge does not work radiator leaks a little spare is mounted on the front, OEM is flat needs to be repaired and swapped driver inside door handle not working, driver side window now is not working ill add and strike things that as i repair them... today was a hot day but i got some work done!! so this will be the river caddy!

That will be more dependent on the box not the sub or the size of the sub. Why do you keep making all of these threads?

Never ever use the bass boost on your amplifier, it creates distortion which anally rapes your sub

If wanted to amplify bass from a source that is weak or does not have an equalizer, using the bass boost could be acceptable certain old music and metal has quiet bass too, this boost would also be helpful in those situations
