  1. Love the video! Looks like something I would do. Bet it sounds better with the sundown.LOL
  2. I would take what you spent on four sets of components (I can assume over 1k?) and buy an active capable head unit (pioneer 80prs), sound deadening (sound deadener showdown), and raw drivers from parts express or madisound.
  3. You can easily achieve that with a good front stage.
  4. You don't need four sets of components.
  5. Nope. Sony is just like Alpine, as is Kenwood, Eclipse, and Pioneer. I have yet to measure a head unit that does differently, Sony makes some of the best HUs in the game and their stuff from the 90s is still years ahead of some of the stuff out today.
  6. Your avatar represents a woman's hand. It's common for women to have a longer index finger compared to the ring finger. With males it's the other way around, the ring finger is longer.

I have bought and amp and a Sub from Sean- Great Seller. Like stated- packs product VERY securely. Ships quick too.
  8. how about we go through what already is installed and see if improvements can be made before throwing more money at the problem.
  9. what i dont get is.. you are the GOOGLE AGE .... your generation has the WORLD at your finger tips... all you have to do is read.... but no.. you just post and expect people to do the research for you . in my day there was no online... you walked your ass to the library and you read... and believe me there was never much about speakers... so then you would walk your ass around town to the stereo shops hoping someone would let you watch.. .. i say watch because no one wants an annoying kid asking questions... you have it so easy and still your not even trying.
  10. Power needed to move the cone to xmax in a particular alignment is RMS power rating. The following is an example. Subwoofer A uses a 8 layer 80mm long coil that weighs 400 grams (total MMs). This sub takes 6,500 watts to hit 35mm in a 5 cubic foot box tuned to 32 hertz. Subwoofer B has the same T/S parameters but uses a 4 layer 80mm long coil that weighs 200 grams (total Mms). Due to the lighter weight this sub only needs 3,200 watts to hit xmax in a 5 cubic foot box tuned to 32 hertz. Couple this with the fact inductance will double with subwoofer A than sub B above 35-40 hertz. Sub B is not only as loud as sub A with 3,000 less watts it will be 2-4 DB louder above 40 hertz due to inductance. This means Sub A would actually need 12,000 watts to be as loud as Sub B on 3,200.
  11. I hope I will never blow aything in my system ! My bass amp is never really hot, and the sub neither (a BTL N2 on a 1500 w amp). A friend of mine is running a Sundown NS-1 (@ 2 Ohms) on a fi btl N2 : after a loud listening session, the sub and amp are not even hot !!! You can say, by touch, that they were playing, but you can never guess they were playing so loud and for so long. People are, first, impressed with the output and the sound quality, and then, when they touch the equipment, most do not understand how it can be so cold !!! I live in the Caribbeans : hot weather all year-long, and lots of rain too ! We both have no DD-1, no O'scope, only our ears. When it sound weird, turn it down or back the gain down, and that's it. Good luck.
