  1. the angled connector is beneficial if you are going to be hiding your wire. This would mean your angled cables would penetrate through the flooring the amp is mounted on and run to wherever. Many installs can't be done like this for various reasons and i believe the installs that can't\don't run their cables like that outweighs those installs that can or do by a large margin. Technically, even in my big builds, i could do that.. but it would hinder how i build and mount my own fuse blocks for easy access.
  2. I hate the angled ones.
  3. thanks for the compliments. Leedogg: silver is the way I'm leaning to match the exterior finish, but we'll see.
  4. Can't say I didn't try. Just remember, horns are more forgiving as they crossover a bit lower and have a much larger bandwidth. Plus, if tuned correctly they sound like hercules farting rainbow colored unicorn cum in your ears!
  5. Indeed don't waste your time
  6. cars and beer whats not to like haha? Mercedes are the best cars evaaaarrr Fixed
  7. well, since my last post, after more sanding, and more puttying, followed by more sanding again... I sprayed a second coat of primer, which was subsequently followed up by more sanding, to get to today. So I just got in from spraying a third coat of primer, and hopefully the last. Currently airing out the garage, and waiting for this coat of primer to dry, before more sanding yet again, before deciding on and buying final color. So on to why you all look at this thread, the pics...
  8. I prefer to use the phrase "FDA approved, just not for this".

Yes you do. But you're assuming way too much. Your speaker is not a perfect 1 ohm deviceYour amplifier has some sort of impact on that resistanceYour amplifier is most definitely not 100% efficient. And all this is besides the point. As others point out your settings on your amplifier and the signal it is receiving is what determines your output. It also takes power to make power. It's possible that your electrical system isn't up to the task to provide a proper amount of current for your amplifier to make it's rated/claimed power. To your original post, I ran two 15" dcons and absolutely adored them. Ported with aeroports like you were suggesting tuned to about 33hz. They are delectable woofers
  10. I just want to say, quentin, I love reading your posts. Always well thought out/presented with tecnical data/testing to back up your point.
  11. Without going into details of why, I'll explain why there are truths in both. It takes a certain amount of moving mass weight to get a low. Look and compare any speakers specs from any big brand on the market. There cheaper speakers will not play as low as their higher end drivers. This is due to the weight of the moving mass. Other factors dictate this however those factors are dictated by the moving mass which is directly related to frequency response. For example you can take a JL W1 12 and add mass to the cone and it will have the ability to play lower. This however creates bad side effects due to the motor not being to accurately control this extra mass. Which leads to why some larger drivers may sound sloppier. Most all smaller companies in the same series will use the same size motor a 10 as they do for a 15 or 18. Just like a heavier vehicle needs more horsepower to compensate compared to a lighter vehicle a sub is the same weight. A 15 inch sub will have a heavier mass than a 10 due to the extra material making the cone and the air load that it is pushing against. To fully control this extra mass the 15 will need a stronger motor than the 10. This will vary depending on the expected reponse of the subs but for the car audio application with the typical 32 hertz tuning this is true. This is the reason why a JL W7 13 motor is bigger than a JL W7 8. To combat this I design my motors to handle the weight of an 18 or the largest cone I plan on using. I then add mass to the smaller drivers to compensate for the extra motor force to weight ratio. The more than needed motor force will lower total Q and can give an funky response and give a high gain in response at resonant frequency. This can be observed in larger motored spl type drivers.

Are you being sarcastic So can you please help me find a simple folded horn subwoofer box design
