  1. Oh, and when you type in black no one can read it. 90% of the mods and techies here use a black background...
  2. i would try to correct the issue with attenuation like m5 suggested or with the aiming/location first before eq'ing it. though figuring out what range of frequencies are "hot" would be a good idea.
  3. Zed used to make US Acoustics, I do have some Zed Mikros for sale in the For Sale section. They are tiny and a more affordable, no frills amplifier from Zed.
  4. If I was going to do matching amps honestly I would either do Incrminator Audio because of the quality and footprint or I would go Rockford Fosgate or ZED for the same reasons. The large Sundown and Crescendo 4 channels are just plain huge and no way I would buy one just to run my front stage unless it was a huge SPL build.
  5. People seem to be drawn to the Q because they advertise it as their Sound Quality line sub that gets very loud. Thats what drew me to the sub when I bought it. I was in the exact same place the OP is in. I wanted to do a nice loud system since I could finally afford to do it the right way now that I'm older. Had a vision of what I "thought" I should do and basically did it. I bought a Sundown 1500, FI Q 15, Alpine 4 channel, Rockford Components for the front and ran my Alpine Type R 5x7 coaxials in the rear all in stock locations. I loved the setup and everyone that heard it was blown away as I was for a couple years. Now that I have alittle more knowledge and gradually went for more and more I realize some things I could have done better. Even now I am kinda starting over for this new truck I have and will likely be going back to a simple, loud and clear sounding setup. Staging and how clean something sounds to me is two different things. Yes I would like a properly staged system but I have also heard a few SQ vehicles with perfect staging that sounded very dull to me and some I have heard sound incredible. My opinion and this is only my opinion, some would disagree and say that it would sound like ass and Im stupid...idk But I would do a good headunit that offers a nice EQ and hi / low crossovers. A nice 1200-2000 watt amp for the sub. (the Q is fine and will get loud and clean. Mine did 147db in my single cab) A good 4 channel amp, IA, Rockford, JL or Alpine, just a few examples. The new Crescendo line may be fine but idk. A good set of components for the front, and a decent set of coaxials for the rear fill if you want to. It wont hurt if you have a suv and have rear seat passengers alot. If your by yourself more than not then just turn the gain way down on the rears or fade more to the front. Take the whole family on a trip and your not blasting the fronts while you listen to your kids BS teenie bopper music because you only have front speakers. Make sure you sound deaden really well and if the installation is done right it will sound great and last as long as you want it too. Then after a year and the bass bug hits you can go really big and in the meanwhile you can read and learn what you like and dislike about your setup and improve from there. Just my 2 cents
  6. Realize that then you will only get responses of what people bought. Not like people try 10 sets of components like you do ice cream. Go listen first, really.
  7. You have a decent budget but no need to buy things just because. I would ditch the Crescendo 1100 and grab a Incriminator Audio 6.4 or the smaller one. Its around the same cost and much much smaller. The C1100 is a HUGE amp and isnt needed for your install at all, its almost as big as a BC5500. Alpine also makes good 4 channel amps. The Q is a great sub and will likely exceed anything you expect. I ran one for 3-4 years and it was a awesome sub. I would also just grab a Crescendo BC2000 and run it at 1ohm on that sub and just watch the gains or another comparable 1500w amp. I have found that I really like the sound of JL components, I was also happy with my Rockford and Alpine sets as well. Proper sound deadening will make a huge difference in how it sounds.
  8. watts are watts. i'm sceptical that you actually found differences in amps if you compared them correctly. changing amps in your situation likely wont improve a thing. imo, OP should be looking at used or refurbed korean amps for the subs. Or if he is looking to save some space, ppi 1000.1 are super small and very solid. the ppi 900.4 or any of the variants using the same board (polk, hertz, etc) are also solid. i feel its important to point out that op will likely need to upgrade the alt in his car if he's running much more than 1500w (depending on the music he is listening to, of course). you also gain little output running more power comparably.
  9. No interest in doing cocaine, but I think doing a cocaine angel would be kinda fun. If I was some old billionaire it might happen.better off deadHey man, YOLOYou are obviously too young to catch the reference. 11. I sell both HSK's and HSK-XL's. I prefer the HSK's. Hertz is very good in a "somewhat" on-axis installation. The Helix P236P is much better off axis and within your budget. Retail is normally 499.95, we sell them normally at 399.95, argue with a dealer and you should get them at 349.

They are out their damn mind. That product cost no where near that much money to make. I should know.
  13. You don't want SQ. Read the terms and conditions of the site it will clear up the confusion for you there. You are near the polar opposite. Buying a component set that can "take" 180w is akin to buying a car that can run on 93 octane. Yep, pretty pointless. In the past you've ran MB Quarts, Pioneer and Rockford. Now that is a step. Why did you change from one to the other and what did you gain? 60lbs is a HUGE fucking waste. Go onto SDS and read about proper deadening. Deadener quantity can be VERY small and in some regards is the least important part of treating your car. Critical sure, but the easiest to do right.
  14. It's everywhere. Have YOU any IDEA what the street value of this mountain is?

  17. ^^EXACTLY!!^^ What on earth makes you think you need that much crap going on up front? I have a single pair of 6.5" components in the front of my wife's van that have no problems getting loud enough to make her happy (not easy by the way, she's the biggest reason I've been through so many setups in that vehicle). For that matter all I have for the highs in my Jimmy are a pair of 3" full range drivers and they get loud enough to make my ears hurt. You need to rethink what you're doing. A quality installation will trump a quantity installation any day. All this time, effort and money you're trying to throw at this multiple speaker setup can be better spent by going with one good set of speakers up front and ensuring they have the best installation you can possibly give them. It doesn't take a lot of reading to figure out what makes up a decent installation either. Now, your plan of using separate amps for the highs and subs is spot on. The only way you're going to output that will satisfy your craving for output and remain clean while doing it is to put a real amp on the highs as HU's don't deliver crap for power. The JBL MS-62C's are well reviewed but everyone has a personal taste and these may or may not suit yours. You need to go out and listen to as many sets as you can to get a feel for what you like and dislike about each one of them. It will help you a great deal in deciding on a set you like. As for the subs, don't go thinking you need 4,000 watts worth of amp and subs to give you great output. A pair of simpler 12's such as the SSA GCON's (DCON's even, they'll be available again soon) or the Fi X series will yield tons of output in a properly designed enclosure, sound great doing it and not cost you an arm and a leg in subs and an amp but first thing is first you need to do some studying. Go to as many shops and stores as possible and listen to as many sets as you possibly can to get an ear for what pleases you and what doesn't. While you're at it study up on what makes a good installation. Sound deadening will be a priority and the best information available on that is at Sound Deadener Showdown. Not only is there a comprehensive and complete explanation on what and how the different products work the best way to install them is covered and there's even a break down of a simple yet effective way to install speakers in your doors. Do all these things, get some more information under your belt and we can and will continue to help guide you through this process. The main thing to do though is ditch the ideas of all these unnecessary speakers and concentrate on making the best install possible.
  18. to the fourm, and back to the hobby! Fellow hoosier as well!! Where about in the great state of Indiana are you? I would assume that since you mentioned wanting something in the 2kw to 2.5kw power range that you'll be investing in a new amp and sub(s). The ZCON is definitely a killer sub and from what I've read and who I've talked to does a fantastic job of sounding good as well as having monster amounts of output. Keep in mind though that everything any sub can and does do as far as it's performance is completely and totally installation dependent and the biggest part of that is the enclosure. Having the right enclosure will mean everything whether you choose to go with the ZCON, ICON's, or any other brand and model of sub that you've had your eye on. There are several members on here who either currently have an install done in an Impala (or equivalent vehicle) or have done one. They would be the best ones to comment on the enclosure sizes and tuning that would best suit what you're looking for. Either way you're in good hands!
  19. Pro audio products should be bought for pro audio companies, they provide you with all kind of specifications to see if they are meant for your application or not. I should be obeying the speed limit to and we all know how that goes.... How often do you recommend speakers that the manufacturer does not publish parameters? Why wouldn't SQ provide them? Better analogy is driving a car blind, without eyes how can you possibly know where you are going? Or not crash?
  20. If it didn't weigh 85 lbs.

I was reffered to this thread because I was considering some SQ HDC312s and I would have to say after reading almost every single reply about your product I'm completely convinced that Quentin has some of the best customer service and honesty about your product that when my taxes come back I'm going to be ordering a pair of your Etho 12s they are absolute beasts and love how sexy they look. I am looking forward to doing business with you hands down! Major and the utmost respect for your honesty and the pure performance and appearance of your drivers. This is the exact reason I am turning this hobby into a life style! These have definitely inspired me. Once again I can not wait to do business with you Quentin!!! Jaime
  23. If two people tell you the same story at the same time how will the words sound? Clearer or mismatched and muddy? Ditch the rears.

  26. Yeah, I'm not help with component sets lol.
