  1. I want to extend a thanks to the SSA forum members that have been with us for a while and have supported my expansion of the SSA product offerings. 10 years ago it started with the SSA Icon 12D2, and we have slowly expanded from there. After years of just sub woofers, I was finally able to move into smaller speakers. Our latest offering is the Evil6.5 mid. All that being said, I need to take care of the people who are apart of the SSA family first. So to our SSA forum members, if you want to try out our new Evil6.5, I will place a $10 SSA Store credit on your SSA Store account for each SSA Evil6.5 you want to order. This is available to SSA forum members with an SSA Store account until September 15th, 2016. _________________________________________________________________________ All you have to do is follow the below example and post in this topic: SSA Store account email address: [email protected] Number of Evil6.5's: 2

Sending the Zcon off for a re cone, really excited to get it freshened up and back booming. Will be re doing my build also. Planning on new amp, wiring, batteries, and box. Maybe ill do a build log this time around but dont hold me to it lol.
  4. You will hear absolutely zero difference going from 3000w to 4000w. Even if the amp were a free trade I wouldn't bother. As for the box size, again for music you should avoid that. You are sitting in a good position. If there were certain frequencies, notes, anomalies or the like you wanted to change then perhaps a different box design could be the fix but there are also probably better ways to do that.
  5. Sailor fixes everything... right?
  6. I still suspect something behind the head unit. There's about a dozen different ways They could've hooked it up. Wire nuts, but connectors, twisted and electric taped, push connectors. Either way I would still suspect the Red wire however it is connected behind the head unit. The other scenario I described above is the connector on the hu is forced into something behind the stereo when fully installed. The amp would not have that effect. The fact it happens when you touch the head unit pretty much points to the connection directly behind the head unit. Hopefully not the head unit itself, gulp.
  7. I like the $1 solutions. May not be fast, but will show you a long term oh shit. Plus you can embed it somewhere how you want. I did the same with an AFR gauge in my Escalade. I cut up the factory clock and shoehorned it in the casing. Bad shot from a long time ago, but you get the idea. 14.69 at idle...glad I am not in boost at idle with that AFR
  8. Definitely one of those things that is usually much more obvious once taken apart.
  9. Quick simple way to check for a short on a coil would be a 9v battery on the speaker wires with them disconnected from the amp. Hold the neg. wire to the neg. post on the battery and quickly scratch the pos. wire on the pos. post on the battery, this will cause an audible sound and make the cone move. It's ghetto....but in a pinch it works if you don't have a meter to check for continuity.
  10. You probably broke some of the stud post that bolt the glass. Quick fix maybe if you can't get to the inside of the glass to check the small nuts that fasten it to the hatch & the glass sealant (same stuff used on windshields) might be to get some black silicone caulk and fill the gap around outside edge.
  11. Email me your resume...
  12. Weatherstripping or amazing goop, depends what you are going for.
  13. Your enclosure looks really nice. Great design idea. I'm tuned in...
  14. First need to see if it is the subs or the amp: 1) DMM VC 2) Apply another voltage source to the subs (battery can work, audio is better) If those are both okay it is upstream from the subs most likeyl.
  15. I knew that sub wouldn't collect dust forever..............
  16. check your voice coils with a multimeter.
  17. Really pretty box!!!
  18. Yeah , I definitely missed who said it. I thought it was the op when I replied. As for the other stuff, I've seen a few others over the years try to prove him wrong. Some finally open their minds and understand, some just ignore him, and others get mad and leave. I'm just sitting on the sideline waiting to see which way it happens in this instance.
  19. Sorry you had to learn that way. Even worse is that it sucks at deadening too. To make you feel better I have seen worse doing test work for the oe's in their deadening application. Crazy what some manufacturers try to do to save money.
  20. What made you choose that much port area? Just curious amd trying to pick your brain, as my last Icon enclosure was 3.5 cubes with 54 square inches.
  21. No, the voltage isn't constant. It goes up and down with the volume and the audio signal that's being played. The 2v, 4v or whatever rated signal is the maximum rated output of the circuit.
  22. It will sound worse than just running the 2 way you have. The whole benefit of having a 3 way is getting to use a single driver optimized for the great majority of the musical range without giving up midbass or top end sparkle. You will gain non of that. The two most important steps in deciding on a logical 3 way setup are 1) driver choice and 2) setting up the crossover appropriately. The 2nd one either requires some serious savvy in making passive crossovers after measuring your speakers in place or a flexible processor with the capability of providing the crossover portion electronically.
  23. All final inspections have been completed! It is nice to be complimented by the code guys for all my hard work and being transparent on every inspection.
  24. Sorry. NYC has more. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._cities_with_large_Polish-American_populations I knew Sloan NY had a big population by volume, and the Southtowns of Buffalo had a big population too. The Broadway Market is awesome for Polish food. Everyone in the Southtowns seemed to be a "SKI". You should see me old yearbook.
  25. Speaking of Hawaii, I just booked a 10 day trip for Christmas week!!! Now to decide what to do when we get there. The agreement is no Christmas presents in exchange for the trip. What's not to like About that?
  26. You watching the men's diving?

not possible , unless you build inside the trunk. I've played around with many boxes in my imp ss, some examples , 35"w 15"h 28"d . Or 35"w 14"h 34"d , if you decide to mount subs up you have to remove 1 inch from height on those dimensions ^^^ My single ported 15 box is 34w 16height, and 22 depth and that's a squeeze . Such a big trunk with dumb opening. Hope that helps.
  28. pretty simple set up here Ill let the pics do the talking, step by step guide basically.
  29. bout 30 mins of sanding later to 220 grit these are getting bedlinered but as you can see they are damn close to being paint ready bedlined installed
  30. 5 layers of 1.5 oz mat sanded with 80 grit on a DA sander milkshake applied (3:1 mix of resin to bondo, spread on with a chip brush, saves hella sanding/finishing time, shit sands like butter)
  31. subbbsssss loading teh subs all by myself, suckkedddd
