  1. I asked if it would have more output, OR if it would hit the lows alot better? and not another sub and bigger amp because Id then need to buy larger power/ground wire, reroute it all. alot more time and money then just a baffle and new sub... its the wifes car, I drive it sometimes and ride in it sometimes so I would appreciate more bass in there, but... its the wifes car! so I am not gonna put too much more time/money into right now.
  2. I didnt spend much time, only plugged box volume and port size into winisd, but 1.72 cubes of air space with a 2"x12.5" port needs the port to be 30 inches long to be tuned to 33.
  3. probably being a bit impatient but did I put this in the wrong section or something?
  4. I have one of those "blinged up" REX12's ported off 200 watts and its pretty impressive for 60 bucks, I also spent 65 on some PCX102's that were pretty nice as well.
  5. right now the wife drives a 01 accord coupe with a single RE REX12D4 off around 200 watts from a RF 300.1 in a 1.5ft^3 box tuned to 35Hz front firing right behind the back seat. would it hit the lows alot better or have more output if I were to replace it with a SRX15D4 in an infinite baffle setup off the same amp? I know Id probably end up lowering the gain seeing as that SRX might not even handle 200 watts in an IB setup. and another idea, what about just using the REX12 in an IB setup since its already in my possession?
  6. oh, this thing has 5.28's stock and still on stock 205/75/15's. there is NO such thing as low RPM driving. when I take off from a stop sign, turning a corner, I am shifting into third right before I even straighten it out. at 60MPH in 5th I am revving over 3500. I cruise at 30-35 in 5th gear around here on the slow roads. I havent swapped over the equipment yet, wife hasnt turned her car in yet, and I dont need to swap equipment until then. I might have my hifonics amp, and PPI subs sold. I was thinking of a single DCON 10, but theres no D2, and a need a 4 ohm load, so to save money I was thinking of just getting a PCX102 again(have em all sold for basically what I bought em for) unless of course it wouldnt hurt the sub to bridge the rears to one coil, and the fronts bridged to another, the front channels might go to some coax's, so I doubt Ill be using the full 75x2 on the front channels.
  7. I just got a daihatsu rocky, and the wife is going to take over my accord, so Im ripping out my stereo equipment. 2 problems though, no room in there for 3 subs and tools, and also, not enough alternator for 1150 watts. I am going to sell my hifonics amp, and put her fosgate amp and RE sub in my accord for her. I am going to get a cheap used 2ch for the comps and take my infinity amp back as well. I was thinking about running this in the rocky and either running the front channels to the coax's, and bridge the rears to one of my 10's. OR I will just run the coax's off my deck and bridge the fronts to one 10, and the rears to another 10. but I am just wondering if a 50A alt is going to be enough for around 350 watts... and I can run this off of 8 gauge, right? its a SHORT vehicle so the whole power run will be about 6-7 feet probably.
  8. ppiflat10s replied to steveo50's topic in Incriminator Audio
just thought Id clear that up, I think you meant to say theres no such thing as underpowering
  9. only thing I can say, is I wouldnt think that crunch stuff would be at the same level as incriminator audio.
  10. well, I can vouch that my product manuals that came with my ppi subs have "designed and engineered in the USA by Directed Electronics, INC" actually printed on the back, and then sort of an address label that says power acoustik electronics with their address stuck to the back of each manual, and out of all 3 manuals, no sticker was put on to cover the directed logo.
  11. is the powerbass a 2ch bridged also? does it do its power at 1 ohm or 2? if its a true mono that does its rated power at 1 ohm then that would be a good reason why the audiopipe does more at a higher ohm load.
  12. now that I re-read that line after you posted it again, I dont know what the hell I was talking about... "for the price (disregarding price)" I know I typed it out, and then changed the wording a bit before I posted it. I guess I should have re-read the whole sentence before I posted it.
  13. I recently bought some ppi pcx102's, on the back of the manuals theres a sticker with their address, and the main company name on it is power acoustik. they were only 54 bucks shipped. Im sending each one around 275 watts they are in 1 cube at about 35, and I want to try them in a bigger box because I think theres more there, but I am pretty impressed with them so far. Im pretty sure I couldnt have gotten anything much better (if any) for the price (excluding price).
  14. the new alt had the smaller of the 2, so he put a bigger pulley onto it, so it actually spun at a lower RPM than with its original belt.
  15. you might want to rethink the wiring, especially if buying an even bigger (true rated) amp. run 0 from the front battery to the back battery, and possibly if its a short run, you can get away with 4 gauge from the rear batt to the amp. or if the amp accepts 0 gauge you can run 0 from the rear batt to amp.
  16. I know a kid that used to run a W7 off a lanzar vibe 1200D (from reading though it was one of their good amps) and he never had any problems with it. Ive owned cheap crap like legacy "1600" watt amps, and while they dont compare to the big name, high quality amps, I never had one of them fry on me or anything. but for 160 bucks and only looking for 100 watts/channel you should be able to get much better. I got my refurbished infinty 4x75 amp for 77 bucks shipped.
  17. what do you need to write, I might be able to do it, or at least put it in terms that will at least get the point across. I know when my brother in law gets hammered he speaks it fluently, he does alright sober. I can ask him maybe, depending on what/how much you need to say.
  18. lol, old guys can be kinda weird. I was on my way to work once, and I went over the the yellow line, and then spit, and swerved to the white line to avoid it(I know it will rarely land on the car, but I had just washed and waxed it, so I was being cautious) and the guy ahead of me was this old guy that lived a few houses down from me in my neighborhood. when we got to the next stop sign he got out of his truck and came back to my car and started yelling at me for driving drunk... lol back to the topic though, Ive realized that honesty works alot better than trying to make excuses or hide anything. like a friend of mine, had his stereo on in the driveway. nothing too loud, but you could probably hear the bass a little bit in a couple of the neighbors houses. anyways, he gets up and goes and turns it way down (to where even we could barely hear it) because he said it was getting late and didnt want a complaint (about 8pm). the cops had already been called though and showed up about 4-5 minutes after turning it down. and instead of just telling the cops that they had just turned it down because of the time or anything like that, his wife tells the cops it couldnt have been them because she "literally just pulled into the driveway". I just went inside so I wouldnt have to be involved at all, but they were there for about 20 minutes checking id's and arguing with this chick because she thought a lie would be better than the truth.
  19. I had one probably 4+ years ago, and I have to say I was happy with it. I didnt pay the 350 or whatever it costs, I got mine for 250 I think in some kind of sale. I never had it tested so who knows the power it put out but the system it was in was damn loud, and Ive read that its been tested to easily push over its rated power. and while I wont put down a sundown amp, they dont have anything for 195 bucks that does that kind of power, that is if the ed amp is still on its preorder sale. once their sale is over, then buy sundown)
  20. I hate to tell you, but really their gonna do what they wanna do. you get to court and tell the judge it wasnt you and now its your word against the officers. guess who wins. its not like it used to be where the citing officer has to show up to the hearing or the ticket is dropped. Ive been pulled over because it was "visually apparent that I was travelling 37 in a 25", word for word, thats how the officers report read, and I still got stuck with the ticket in court, because I had no proof that I wasnt, and I had no lawyer by my side. I got pulled over once because of my stereo, he came up behind me at a stop sign, and when he pulled me over I told him I didnt think I had it that loud so he told me that when I drove by the chevron he was inside it shook the buildings door (one ported 12 off maybe 500 watts/HIGHLY DOUBT I shook a building 100 feet away) but he went to his car and I guess saw I had a speeding ticket 10 minutes prior (was in a bad mood about the ticket which is why I had the system cranked) so he let me go. and signing the ticket they give you isnt an admission of guilt, but if you really get uptight about the fact that you didnt do it then your probably going down to the station (which maybe backs up your case more/maybe not). thats almost happened to me, but I figured Id rather sign and sleep at home that night. if they want to be uptight about it, you cant get away with anything, I heard the law is 50 feet away you cant be heard, well I can turn about any stock stereo up loud enough for that.
  21. put it in the box, power it up, and see if it bottoms out. the box size affects the mechanical power handling, generally a smaller box lets the sub handle more power (doesnt change thermal power handling though, so even if its in a small box and you can feed it a shitload of power without bottoming out, you could still smoke the coil/s from too much power)
  22. hopefully you typed independence rise as a joke this time, its impedance rise.
  23. Im pretty sure if you have left and right side mirrors, you can get away with it, think about trucks with campers or trucks pulling travel trailers, they get away with a rear view mirror that serves no purpose.
  24. why did you set the gain with the sub out at -2, everything ive read says put the sub out all the way up, the way you have it set, you have to turn the gain MUCH higher to make power than if you had the sub out turned up and the eq flat. Im not sure but id assume its easier to turn the gain up and into clipping at the amp if your amplifying such a low signal so high.
