  1. wow.. pictures give it that wood grain look.. in person its real dark and glossy lol. never seen it look like that before.
  2. I got this a god 8-9 years ago from some guy for dirt cheap. we can just say it was in my worse days and he used to bring me all types of weird stuff.. I was told this was valuable at one time but I could never find it on the internet or even make it sound good.. although i could have been doing something wrong.. Basically what im asking you guys is to tell me what his is if you know.. dont sugar coat it.. if its junk then tell me, been sitting in the closet for ALONG time. here is some pics... I have atleast 4 of the smaller speakers and 1 of the centers. I might have even more than the 4, i dont want to dig them all up just yet lol.
  3. Im about to go thru this same thing with my 18" btl.. I bought bolts and tnuts just like you did, ill probably end up doing the same thing you just did. looks like it worked just fine.
  4. Ill be doing the same in my build, 4 bolts thru the box representing both coils, 8 ga directly to the bolts then take it from there.
  5. the belt could be replaced, i was planning on that, but i didnt consider it being my problem.. ill for sure look into the belt, although i think its the alternator, it even mentioned on the website i bought it that it doesnt make its rated output at idle, so i should have payed more attention when i bought it. ill get a few pics up here in a day or 2.
  6. Small update with no pictures yet.. Hooked up my alternator, Kinetik hc2000 and did the big 3 only today while i gotta wait till the end of this week or so to get the last battery in. Im not very happy with this so far. I knew i screwed up with this damn alternator i got. it was from db-electrical.. i mean..my stock voltage meter hopped right up there when i started the vehicle. a strong 14+ volts.. then the rpms kicked down and it was a low 13 or so.. give it gas and bam.. right back up.. let off then right down. not what i was lookin for at all.. Ive had that damn alternator sittin around since i first started buying shit for this install.. never heard people mention that type of alternator here.. even my stock alternator didnt have so much movement in voltage.. just irritates me now.. idea is steady voltage and unless im 1300+ RPM my voltage is shitty. Hope when i add a 2nd HC2000 battery it decides to sit still.. As far as pictures ill snap a few when my side mount terminals for the kinetik battery comes in.. its a mess now, damn battery was wayyy bigger than my stock battery tray.. had to do some manipulating to make it fit. This is the first time ive done a big 3 and the first time ive worked with 0 gauge wire.. shit is hard to work with at first.. took me a while to start doing it right, not to mention all the soldering for the terminal rings.. but its in there, gonna continue with the install till its done and if that damn alternator gives me anymore shit im gonna go buy a quality one like i should have from the beginning. if you guys have any recommendations please let me know. Looking for no more than $350 if possible.. really like something cheaper, but like ive heard here a million times.. "you get what you pay for" and my $250 piece of shit alternator sure is what i got.
  7. i see what your sayin lol.. it does have carpet so a dead on measurement might not happen, i just took the tape measure outside and got a quick measure. Ill get out there soon and get another measurement for you, either way i look at it im kind of stuck with this box.. just wanted to see how full of it the guy who built it was. it looks decent.. its huge.. but sticking the speaker in there and hearing it will be the test im going to need. Guess its just me.. always think someone's tryin to get over on me lol.. thats the internet for ya
  8. It's not mine m5 or I would, already got me a sundown amp phi I'll pm u in a few when I'm on a real computer. On iPod touch now. Thanks everybody
  9. ok i checked out both of those.. the n-22v is a last option kinda thing.. rather just have another one from audiopipe that plugs directly into the amp, ebay doesnt have any bass knobs for the audiopipe by themselves.. just amps and EQ's with bass knobs.. any other ideas? thanks for the effort guys i appreciate it. just a dumb problem, wish it was a sundown amp lol, we would have a knob already
  10. anyone? Audiopipe's customer service isnt so good.. 2 days no response isnt good. Maybe there is a bass knob i CAN get my hands on that will work with this amp as well? give me somethin guys appreciate anything you guys can help me with.
  11. Appreciate the post, Damplifier would be something i would love to have, but ive blown my budget already as it is. sure its some of the best, just cant afford it at this time. as far as the fatmat lol.. glad i asked the question. Figured there was a catch.. and you just named off only a few thanks again.
  12. Does anyone have an info for me on a replacement gain knob for the audiopipe 1500 amp's? Up till today this amp has been great but it seems the wires inside have came loose and im not the type to bust it open and put it back together.. This isnt my amp its in a good friends car. I have sent emails to the company with no response. Any suggestions? the knob plugs in with a "headphone" looking jack, not the phone cable looking one.
  13. the video's i see on these things make them look sweet.. do they hit the lows well? thinkin about throwin 2 of these in my extended cab s10 because of the enclosure size needed for them.. Ive never owned an 8" subwoofer before and im looking for some low bass... would I be better off with a Fi BL 12 rather than 2 of these 8's? i know its one of those questions we hear so much about here.. this vs that.. as i said.. want low clean bass.. I have the room to put 2 8's in an enclosure the size they will need or enough room for one of those BL 12's.. If im off topic forget about it or someone PM me thanks Steve, ill get a hold of Jacob when i can make my mind up
  14. Sorry to post this 33 pages into the thread, im sure this questions has been answered on previous pages but im not really ready to dive in and read the whole thing.. i see people have these sa-8's (youtube and here).. SSA's store still says pre order. Is it still to early for me to get my hands on one of these? I would like to order 2 of em for my truck soon.
  15. Good thread, i was thinking the same thing about my 18" BTL which hasnt gone in yet.. but you guys make good points.. Keep your ear on the sub for any signs of stress but give it what it wants... lots of power
  16. Are you saying what the guy told me is wrong or I didn't measure right?
  17. yea i tried the re calculator also, but there is other factors i think, bracing and the 1.5 inch baffle. the sub displacement.. hope this box turns out alright
  18. wow.. no reply's at all :-/
  19. doesnt matter to me what people do.. you guys are on your own, ill go ahead and add my review of the Q ive had my hands on.. damn thing sounds great.. For everyone talking about it not being a SPL sub it sounds awesome, moves quite a bit of air for a single 12" in a trunk. I was very impressed.. we put it in a 2.5 cu ft box after displacement.. just a simple L port box.. people dont believe its a 12" when they hear it. that damn Q also makes me wonder how much louder a BTL is, and now that i have a 18" BTL sitting in the garage its driving me crazy soon enough
  20. I got the box built a few days ago.. just wondering if I could throw the dimensions out here and you guys can tell me what it is size wise. He told me its around 8.7cubic feet and i think he said 32 hz is what its tuned too.. damn thing is huge, but here is the measurements 48 1/4th across, 20 1/8 height on the face plate, 24 1/2 tall.. the port i wasnt 100% sure how to measure properly so ill tell you what i did and if im wrong correct me and ill run out in the garage and re measure. I basically stuck the tape measure in the port, hooked on to where the inner port board stops and took that as my port depth measurement, which was 17", port is 6 7/8 wide, 18 1/2 tall, its an L port and for measuring the inside board i just ran my tape measure up against the wall and out to the end of the 2nd port board.. hope you understand what i just said lol.. port board 1 is the one you see when you look inside of the port, port 2 is the board you see when you look inside the speaker cut out.. i put the tape up against port 1 and measured to the end of port 2 which was 6" long... if you guys could see what that calculates out to and how well you guys think it will sound with a 18" btl fully loaded. here is just a few quick pictures i took the other day..
  21. Let me go ahead and add this is my first BIG install.. built a box or 2, used a shitload of pre fabbed boxes for misc. 12's.. all garbage compaired to this.. so if you guys see me doin something wrong please chime in im thinkin ill be ok though.
  22. need another battery and some deadener. ive been planning it out down to the last connector.. ive got my mind set on a 2nd battery as my "distribution block" in the back. plus when i run this wire im yankin out all the seats and carpet and running everything under there.. would be pointless not to deaden it while its out. i just got the box today.. damn its big.. guy told me it was 8.7 or so cu ft tuned to 32hz.. I havent checked his work, but its gonna fit in the tahoe real nice. I personally think it could use some bracing.. but i donno, box building hasnt been to great to me lol. see you guys when its that time
  23. This is about 2-3 weeks pre build. But I finally got pics so there gettin posted. when the build begins ill just add to this thread. here is what ive got my hands on so far... all Knukonceptz wire.. 8gauge,4 gauge and 1/0, rca's, fuses, remote, all connectors 220A Alternator This is the only thing i bought used in the entire build so far. has a small scratch on the front, but powers up and sounds good, price was un beatable so i had to get it one more kinetik and some deadener and this all gets put into the vehicle..i would have a picture of the tahoe but it looks like shit right now, maybe another day
  24. I want to see other people's designs.. come on people, make something no matter how bad it looks. MS Paint is your friend
  25. Didnt know that was the owner of SDS, but glad to know. When i make up my mind on what I want to do.. its sds all the way
