Foam sub box lining affecting tuning?
Also, I have two of these subs, and putting it in a ported box is a bad idea for fast double bass. I think you would probably rather go sealed. I have mine sealed and they handle fast double bass drums perfectly.

Foam sub box lining affecting tuning?
I think you're going to have to be a bit more specific when you say, "it's obnoxious nonsense."

sundown vs sundown
as was I, thanks for finding that link!! not sure why but my reply got put above part of the quote, where the "?" is. Lol, I noticed that. It threw me off for a second, because it was like you were talking about the link and then you were completely contradicting it. I thought you went weird for a second

Why DVC?
I like Memphis I was looking at one of their amps one time that said it did 4,000 watts, but I could never find out if that was RMS or max.

sundown vs sundown
Actually your wrong, they are made outside the country thats why Jacob has to wait a little longer to ship out amps because US Customs holds them for awhile as they come into the border. if the amps were made here in the usa they wouldnt be nearly as affordable as what they are and yes the 1500D will do 2600 watts under the proper conditions which if I remember right is 16v and wired down to 1/2 ohm with a rise to around 1 ohm Yeah, but that's really just if it's just playing a sine wave.

What kind of music are you going to be playing through this sub, anyway?

Big 3 Question
Go ahead what are you waiting for? Well, I managed to snap the water inlet pipe right off of my heater core, so that kind of has first priority right now.

Btw, I just looked up the dimensions on the box, and the box is way too damn big. Like, twice the size that it should be. Under powering it wasn't such a bad idea, but I recommend getting a box that isn't twice as big and actually feeding it enough power. That's just a personal preference though.

Well, generally building a box to specs is going to make a difference no matter what unless the box it is already in is right. What size sub is it, anyway? I have to say this though. The answers to these questions are almost painfully obvious.

sundown vs sundown
Umm..yeah. Good question, actually. Why IS this in the Fi forum. I've seen this guy twice and he's typed in all caps the first time and then posted in the wrong forum the second.

The relationship between Xmax and SPL
This was a really good article. I love reading on these technical and how to forums because I learn new things like Xmax not being all that important.

Single Reflex Bandpass Enclosures
I'm not 100% sure that I'll say all of this right, but I'm going to wing it. Let's just say you want to build a single reflex bandpass box, but you want to use a sub that isn't recommended for sealed enclosures. How do you find out how large to make the sealed part of the enclosure?

Sub position
I remember when I only had my two 10's, i tried having them firing in all kinds of other directions for a little while, but there wasn't any real bass. There was a little bit, but there was a lot more when I finally just left them firing down.
-
Sub position
Give it a shot and let me know how it turns out. I'm curious if this is universal.

Sub position
Well, I'm not sure about your car, but I got the best results from having them firing down. Just gotta make sure the sub doesn't slap against the carpet (or whatever you have under it)
