  1. If audio is your life and that is a serious question then well.................. Every size gauge wire is only rated up to a certain power point, above those levels you need more. Pretty simple and audio is "not" my life
  2. Cant go wrong with either, but for the money and power I say Crescendo all day. Sundowns are beast, but the Crescendo is no slouch. Go with your gut and budget on this one.
  3. Ok looks like I am at 20cu ft. net tuned at 30.5, with 275in of port area. I think this will be fine. May not meter the loudest but should murder the lows, anybody find a good priced 5500 let me know.
  4. Really nice of you man, I know how time consuming it can be to design good enclosures. Thanks for your help with mine. Hope you get better soon.
  5. Looks brutal!
  6. Thanks alot, I know my truck peaks pretty low so I'm sure that will have some effect also. Did port area change that graph much?
  7. swift replied to Budah93's topic in General Audio
Not if you have a well build box, its totally fine. My box is the single most stable thing in my truck.
  8. New thread for the new build, The quest for insanity continues. I wont build this one for numbers either but will be active at Meca meets and just having fun. The goal here is to be very loud, low and sound good doing it. I'm hoping for 154's but want to do it peaking low, I would like 152's+ around 30hz, but main goal is to sound good, this will not be a burp box. Updated Equipment List for this build Power / Electrical Mechman 370amp alternator, over 200amps at idle.... props to Mechman Adjustable voltage regulator set at 14.7v 4 XS D3400's, 2 XP3000's (may change that up some) 4 runs of power, 2 runs of ground to back batteries wiring is Knu ofc 1/0 and also a lot of Coleman 2/0 ofc stage cable Head Unit Pioneer deh80-prs (running active) Mids and Highs Alpine PDX 4.150 on mids, Digital Designs SS2 on highs 2 Rockford Fosgate Punch Pro 6.5's 2 Rockford Fosgate Punch Pro 8's 2 Crescendo FT1 super tweeters, may add 2 more Subs, box and sub amps 2 Crescendo BC 5500's strapped at 1.5 3 FI SP4 18's, dual 1, cooling, spaced spiders, loaded The wall will be completely double walled 3/4in 13 ply Russian Baltic Birch with 1/2in all thread bracing 19.5cu tuned to 31-33hz with 250-300sqin of port Today I picked up SEVEN 5x5 sheets of Birch (420lbs worth) and will start making cuts maybe this weekend. I wanted to get the thread up so when I takes picks I can just add as I go. The best part is I can build this in my garage and slide box in when done, add the front beauty panel, seal the edges and done. I will be removing the bed of the truck to run all thread through the box and cab to secure it. Dont need a 600lbs projectile behind me. haha
  9. Fuel costs plus paying the driver plus wear on the equipment. If you can do it for less than start your self a business! You can, its called the mail. LOL
  10. Like I said, I would do between 80-100. I am running 2 18's with more Xmax and just as much motor strength as the Zcons and I have 204in of port and it falls off quickly around 4-5hz below tuning. I wish it was a hair smaller. Just pick something close and run with it. Its easy to stress out and over think it. If your in that range and you build a good enclosure your fine.
  11. 29in of port per cube? dayum Thats 209 in of port total, thats what i run for my TWO 18's. I would do between 80-100sqin of port for that sub if you want it to be musical.
  12. I meant a 30 sec average full blast like in Park and Pound (Meca) Just seems pointless to be at half volume then go full tilt for only 7-10 seconds which its clear everyone does. Not knocking it, looks fun to me. I wish Meca did that here but I dont care either way Im in Tennessee, lol. Good scores on music and congrats on the wins
  13. I will be making the trip, not sure about both days but definitely one of them
  14. Take some thicker all thread or threaded pipe and cut it so it will fit in there (maybe 1/4 in short) then get a threaded foot for each side and screw them on. Put the brace in and unscrew each side by hand against the wood till its very tight. And put 4 screws in each foot to hold in place. You see the same thing in a smaller scale on the stripper poles guys use in major 4th orders. This will will help and I bet it will be louder when braced properly. Any questions just ask. I will help any way I can
  15. Please run some all thread between each sub from to back and use lock washers, flat washer and nuts. If a sub pops out full tilt you will unload the closest one and probably blow 2 subs at once. I hate to say it again but I honestly wouldn't even play it until I did that if it was mine. You could probably put a shoulder in it around the port and cave in the entire front baffle the way it is now.
  16. Get some bracing in that box or you will keep breaking screws, and not from the Dcons but from baffle flex. The port is not acting as a brace so you have six 15's on a big double baffle surface which is no where near enough!!!!!!!! Sorry to be critical but I think it needs pointed out
  17. Cool!! I thought the XP's were not suppose to be under hood in that heat? Look forward to seeing the build
  18. Nice!! Although that class doesnt make much sense to me. Why dont they let you burp music and be done? Seems like if they want 30 seconds of music they would do an average... Nice scores BTW
  19. It will probably sound like your farting in the bathtub, (straight ass) Do two PSI built 15's instead and you will be much happier!

The Meca state finals were this weekend so I decided to go check it out. The comp bug has bitten me alittle and its been fun going and seeing all the different builds. I have placed in every event so far but the nature of my build makes me a huge underdog. (Tuned low, not below window line, actually sounds good, lol jk) But its fun none the less. It almost makes me want to sponsor myself and turn my 2002 Dodge Caravan thats sitting at my office into a monster build, LOL But I did sit in a 157 blazer and that mofo was actually painful, it peaked at 44 he said and the punch of each note was quite brutal. Also sat in a minivan that was a low tuned 4th order that peaked low and that did a 154.5 at 31hz. Thats more my style and was a damn wind tunnel. I get stuck in Mod 4 going against the big dogs, lol. I did a 150.2 at 34hz at the headrest. I need to get a meter from Shizzon so I can play around at different locations, I think a 151+ at the windshield or kick is doable. But really my current setup is for demoing and music and it does that very well. This event I picked up 3rd place in Mod4 and 1st place in the show and shine, Phat truck, best rims and best paint (not sure why). Here is a pic of some trophies I have gotten at the last three events. Here is a quick vid of the 157 blazer. It has 4 18in IA DP's on 2 IA 40.1's in a 4th order. I figured I would share, Senchez was there and his Explorer was getting lots of attention, Must be that killer box he has, haha
  21. no reelfish Just read that, was that the box with the 2 Fi Q 18s on S10 forum? Yes
  22. no reelfish
  23. x2 Looks like its beating that truck up. Very nice. I sent you a pm a few days ago, lol
  24. Having alittle fun behind my office on a Saturday Morning. Volume is about 3/4 since I'm just walking around at idle and not monitoring voltage although its not much a issue with this new badass alternator.
  25. I would do 6-7cubes with around 100sq in of port for one 18. You current box is all jacked up.
